Qantas plane headed to Auckland from Sydney forced to turn around mid-flight

a Qantas plane bound for Auckland had to turn back Sydney after colliding with a bird in flight.

Flight QF141, which departed around 7am, had to change course and return to Sydney, approximately 30 minutes en route to New Zealand on Friday morning.

Flight tracker data shows the Boeing 737 traveled over the Tasman Sea before making a U-turn and returning to Sydney Airport.

He landed safely around 9 a.m.

No passengers or crew were injured and it is unknown if there was any damage to the aircraft.

“One of our flights bound for Auckland returned to Sydney this morning following a bird strike shortly after takeoff,” a Qantas spokesperson said.

“We will rehouse customers as quickly as possible.

“We appreciate our customers’ understanding and apologize for the inconvenience.”
