Shand's online comments follow the king's decision to release an unusually detailed statement about his own health. Buckingham Palace explained that he needed treatment for an enlarged prostate. Royal sources said he was 'very keen' to share his condition with the country to encourage other men who may be experiencing symptoms to get tested in line with public health advice.

Ayesha, whose mother is Shand's ex-wife, French former actress Clio Goldsmith, will no doubt be supported by the Queen. She has talked about how her aunt helped her cope with the loss of her father.
