Queen Mary of Denmark looked typically chic in a navy blue trouser suit as she congratulated the winners of the country’s most prestigious research prize at a ceremony in Copenhagen today.

The 52-year-old royal wore a double-breasted jacket and matching trousers from British brand The Fold to present certificates to the winners of the EliteForsk Prize – which recognizes the achievements of five internationally renowned researchers aged up to 45 year.

The mother of four paired her outfit with pale pink snakeskin effect pumps from Italian designer Gianvito Rossi and a navy blue calfskin clutch from Danish brand Quidam Bags.

She styled her long, auburn locks into loose curls, revealing a pair of pearl earrings to match her necklace.

While Mary kept her makeup simple, she made a statement with her electric blue nail polish.

The EliteForsk Prize is awarded by the Danish Council for Independent Research, part of the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science, and is worth 1.2 million Danish Krone (£137,792).

Mary, who was an advertising executive in her native Australia before falling in love with then-Crown Prince Frederik, became Queen of Denmark just six weeks ago when his mother, Queen Margrethe II, abdicated on January 14 and he ascended the throne.

Earlier this month, the royal couple announced their first royal trips together since becoming king and queen.

The pair will visit Sweden, Norway, Greenland and the Faroe Islands this summer.

Announcing their upcoming plans, the palace’s Instagram account confirmed that the King and Queen will travel aboard the royal yacht Dannebrog.

At the beginning of May, the couple – who have been married for almost twenty years and have four children – will be the first to visit Sweden.

The following week, Frederik and Mary make an official state visit to Norway.

The palace also outlined plans for the king and queen of Denmark to visit the Faroe Islands and Greenland in June and July.

However, the company emphasized that the dates for these two trips had not yet been confirmed.

The palace said in a statement: “The first state visits will provide the new king and queen with the opportunity to meet monarchs in Sweden and Norway, marking the close ties between the Nordic monarchies.”

The Royal Yacht Dannebrog has served as the Danish Royal Family’s cruise ship since May 1932 and has traveled more than 800,000 miles.

The luxury yacht provides accommodation for the royal family during both their private holidays and during official foreign engagements.

The royal compartment of the yacht still contains furniture and accessories from 1879 that were on board the family’s previous yacht.

Frederik and Mary are keen sailors and took part in a yacht race in Sydney in December 2017 when they visited the Queen’s birthplace at Christmas.

In August 2022, the couple competed against each other in a sailing ‘Royal Race’ at the Rockwool Denmark Sail Grand Prix – with Mary narrowly beating her husband.
