Rachel Zegler and Josh Andres Rivera comment on the ‘Hunger Games’ set

Rachel Zegler And Josh Andres Rivera just proved they are relationship goals.

During filming The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes in 2022, Zegler, 22, and Rivera, 28, revealed they had passed notes to each other. Rivera said the tradition of passing notes on set started when he was “scratching in my little academy notebook one day.”

“[Rachel] told me to draw her like a flower,” Rivera explained during a Friday, November 17, interview appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. “So, you know, I made a really rough drawing of a flower with a little smiley face on it and some legs, and I just gave it to her.”

In one clip you see Rivera sliding Shazam! Anger of the gods actress a comment. At first, Zegler is visibly touched by the gesture – she said she thought it was “something cute!” found. – but laughed after she opened the sheet of paper.

“After that I started drawing a little. I feel like I’ve gotten a lot better,” Rivera said jokingly, while Zegler added, “He’s really maxed out his abilities.” Rivera then brought out a drawing of a dog he had created for Kelly Clarksonwhich looked like it was done by a novice.

The pair previously confirmed their relationship in February 2021 when Zegler wrote to X, formerly known as Twitter, “I love Josh Andres Rivera.”

Zegler, who plays Lucy Gray Baird in the film Hunger Games prequel, Clarkson, 41, said she initially turned down the role. Rivera, who plays Sejanus Plinth, recalled calling Zegler immediately when he was cast and telling her, “That thing you were going to do, that’s what I’m going to do.”

Ultimately, Zegler changed her mind, and she said she was “very glad” she did. “I’m pretty sure we officially said yes on the same day because I remember that FaceTime conversation,” Zegler said.

This isn’t the first time Zegler and Rivera have shared the screen. The couple met on the set of Steven Spielberg‘S West Side Storythe recording of which started in the summer of 2019.

In March 2022, Zegler paid tribute to her friend during her National Board of Review acceptance speech, where she won Best Actress.

“Thank you for holding my hand in my dreams and in my reality,” Zegler said. “I love living with you. Thank you for making me laugh.”

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes opened in theaters on November 17.
