Rahul Gandhi was summoned by the civil court in Sultanpur in connection with a 2018 case of using derogatory remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a conference in Bengaluru.

Sultanpur: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was granted bail on Tuesday in a defamation case over his reference to Union Home Minister Amit Shah as accused of murder in 2018. Rahul Gandhi was granted bail on Rs 25,000 bail and a personal bond of the same amount. He pleaded not guilty in court and denied any wrongdoing.

The civil court in Sultanpur had summoned him 36 hours earlier to appear before it in a defamation case filed by a BJP leader in August 2018.

“This morning, Rahul Gandhi will appear before the civil court in Sultanpur, which had summoned him 36 hours earlier to appear before this court in a defamation case filed by a BJP leader in August 2018. Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will not be derailed. Rahul Gandhi will not be silenced. The Indian National Congress will not be intimidated,” he said in a message on 'X'.
