With just a day to go for the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the entire nation seems to be deeply immersed in religious fervor. Several states have declared half-day holidays, while others have opted for a complete closure of educational institutions. Meanwhile, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), a prestigious institute, has asked students not to participate in protests on the campus here against the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple on January 22. The institute has warned them of action from law enforcement agencies in case of any resistance. However, the TISS student union denied that any protest is being organised.

“Strictly warn students not to participate in such activities or demonstrations,” TISS warns students

‘Gaushala IIT, recitation of a poem on the epic Ramayan: IIT Bombay plans events to mark the day

On the occasion of Ram Lalla’s ‘Pran Pratishtha’ in Ayodhya, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay will conduct programs such as inauguration of a ‘gaushala’ (cow shelter) and recitation of a poem based on the epic Ramayan. Nevertheless, this move was criticized by the Ambedkar Phule Periyar Study Circle, a student organization with left-wing perspectives at IIT Bombay. In a message, APPSC IIT-B wrote, “A series of events held on campus by the @iitbombay government shows that it has come to grovel to Hindutva political forces and abandoned the principle of secularism in the Indian Constitution. ”

A ‘Shobha Yatra’, a musical event titled ‘Ramdhun’ and the inauguration of a ‘Gaushala’ have been given permission by the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay to be held on the campus before and on the day of the inauguration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on Monday, January 22, 2024.
