Killer socialite Rebecca Grossman’s family arrive in court dressed in funereal outfits as she is sentenced for murdering two young brothers with her Mercedes

Rebecca Grossman’s family arrived in the South California The court wore matching funereal black ahead of the sentencing of the socialite’s killer on Monday.

Grossman, who turns 61 on Friday, was convicted in the 2020 hit-and-run deaths of brothers Mark, 11, and Jacob Iskander, 8, in Westlake Village, outside Los Angeles.

Because she shows no remorse for her actions, prosecutors have asked for the maximum sentence of two consecutive prison terms of 15 years to life – one for each young boy.

If Grossman, who has been in custody since her conviction in February, receives this sentence, she will likely spend the rest of her life behind bars.

Her husband Dr Peter Grossman, daughter Alexis (19) and son Nick have continued to support the socialite and were present in court before they were sentenced.

On the other side of the court sat the boys’ parents, Nancy and Karim Iskander.

Nancy wore a button with the photo of her two boys on her shirt and was in tears as she took a seat in the courtroom audience.

Grossman, the wife of prominent Los Angeles burn doctor Peter, fatally struck the siblings while speeding behind a car driven by then-lover Scott Erickson, a former pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Grossman was not charged with being under the influence, but former baseball player Royce Clayton testified that he joined her and Erickson at a nearby restaurant where Erickson had two margaritas and Grossman had one.

Prosecutors presented evidence that the data recorder in Grossman’s white Mercedes showed she was traveling at up to 80 mph (130 km/h) and hit the brakes, slowing her to 75 mph (120 km/h) less than two seconds before a crash that deployed her airbags .

In their sentencing memos, prosecutors said Grossman also “conspired with a friend to contact the Iskanders by giving them a necklace” containing their sons’ birthstones and tried to steal them anonymously last month to have it delivered.

“The defendant’s actions from September 29, 2020 through today demonstrate a complete lack of remorse and narcissistic superiority, which leads to only one conclusion: that she does not deserve any leniency,” prosecutors Habib Balian, Ryan Gould and Jamie Castro said . The Los Angeles Times reports this.

“The defendant has consistently demonstrated through her actions that she deserves the maximum sentence.”

They added: ‘She has led a privileged life and clearly felt that her wealth and fame would buy her freedom.’

The defense has portrayed Grossman as a “humanitarian” who helped burn victims and survivors of domestic violence and grew up abused and impoverished in Texas.

Her lead attorney James Spertus acknowledged that the Iskanders’ loss was “incalculable,” but added that the Grossmans suffered a different kind of loss.

In a letter to the judge pleading for mercy, Grossman wrote, “I am not a murderer, and I ask you to acknowledge that true fact.

“My pain, my recognition of the pain the Iskanders suffer, and the pain I see my family suffer, are punishments I have already suffered and will continue to suffer for the rest of my life.

Please take this suffering into account when considering what other punishment you can impose on me in this case.”

Grossman allegedly

Grossman allegedly “conspired with a friend to contact the Nancy and Karim Iskanders by giving them a necklace containing their sons’ birthstones.”

Grossman’s son Nick wrote in a letter to the judge: ‘Nothing compares to what the Iskanders are going through, but since the accident it feels like the world hates my mother and everyone is against our family.

“It’s like they just want the worst version of the story and never looked at who she really is and all the things she’s done her whole life, every day. They turned her into a monster.”

Prosecutors, meanwhile, also allege that Grossman induced her family to lie for her during her trial, including her daughter Alexis.

She has already been accused of using dirty tactics to overturn her convictions. Prosecutors previously said she told her husband and daughter from jail to track down jurors and find witnesses to try to get them to change their testimony and get Judge Brandolino to grant her a new trial.

Grossman also allegedly told her daughter Alexis to publicly release a sheriff’s deputy’s body camera video, which was sealed by the judge.

Even though Judge Brandolino sealed the jurors’ contact information, at least two jurors reported that three other members of the jury had been contacted by Paul Stuckey, a private investigator “for the family,” prosecutors said.

Grossman’s lead attorney at trial, Tony Buzbee, repeatedly blamed her then-lover Erickson for the deaths, suggesting that the retired baseball player’s car struck Jacob, throwing him into a curb and then hitting Mark, putting him in the path of Grossman’s Mercedes was thrown. .

Grossman was separated from her husband at the time of the crash and was in a relationship with Scott Erickson, who her defense said was the one who hit the boys.

An attorney for Erickson has said the former baseball player denies contributing in any way to the tragedy. Erickson was initially charged with a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving, but this was dismissed after he made a public service announcement, the Times said.

Nancy Iskander testified that the black SUV did not hit her sons, but could have hit her and her 5-year-old son Zachary. She said she dove out of the way and pulled Zachary to safety.

The mother said she did not see Mark and Jacob get hit, but three eyewitnesses said they saw a white or light-colored vehicle hit the boys.

Grossman’s husband, Dr. Peter Grossman, medical director of the Grossman Burn Centers, was called to testify by his wife’s defense. The Grossmans are founders of the Grossman Burn Foundation, which promotes the care and support of burn survivors.

Peter Grossman said he and his wife were divorced at the time and living separate lives under the same roof while dating other people. His wife was involved with Erickson in 2020, he testified.
