On Tuesday, Penn updated his athletic record books in line with the adopted policy of the NCAA van transgender Athletes, who contain three markings set by Thomas during the 2021-22 season.
The switch to add asterisks to Thomas’s data comes after the US Department of Education for Civil Rights (OCR) has announced that it reached an agreement with the school on Title IX violations with regard to the participation of Thomas.
Those updated records also come when Trump has called on the NCAA to prohibit biological men, who identify themselves as transgender, to compete with women’s sports.
Gaines, who participated in Thomas, has built up her career of the fame she has won from Development of Thomas’ participation. Olbermann wanted to be the first to congratulate Gaines in his own way after the changes were made.
“I wanted to congratulate Whiny Gaines with the fact that she could now say that she had finished fourth place not for fifth place in the Lia Thomas race,” said Olbermann on X. Thomas won a national championship in the 200-meter freestyle in 2022. Gaines Bond in that race.

School records at Penn set by Thomas now include asterisks because of updated NCAA policy
‘Thank you! And while you keep track of, make sure that you congratulate Emma Weyant, the right national champion in the 500 Freestyle, also “replied Gaines. “(If you insinuate 5th in the nation is bad, what do you call a man who is 462th nationally in the men category?)”
Thomas became the first openly transgender NCAA champion with the victory and has become the face of the discussion about whether biological men should compete in women’s sports.
Earlier this year, a statement from Quakers said that the school and athletic department will meet the new policy of the NCAA.
“The university will not exclude – based on sex – female students from participating in participation in female students the benefits of or subjects of female students in discrimination under, athletics programs,” read a Penn statement.
“In addition, such facilities related to Penn Athletics intimate facilities and bathrooms in the female student athletes such as changing rooms and bathrooms must be provided on the basis of sex and provided comparable to every gender.”
Gaines has received recognition from those who approve the prohibition of transgender athletes in women’s sports of the decision to add asterisks to Thomas’s data.
The victory for Gaines arrives less than a month after she was in a feud with Simone Biles on the subjectwho also took place on social media.
