Rooney Mara drapes baby bump in maternity top during solo walk… after sharing pregnancy news on Berlinale red carpet

Rooney Mara draped her baby bump in a flowing, casual ensemble as she stepped out in Los Angeles this week.

The 38-year-old actress is expecting her second child from her fiancé Joaquin Phoenix, with whom she has been in a relationship for eight years.

She announced the news of her latest pregnancy by cradling her blossoming bump as she posed on a red carpet at the Berlinale just two weeks ago.

Then, with the cat out of the bag, she was spotted walking around Los Angeles on Tuesday in a comfortable-looking outfit, including a maternity T-shirt and a jacket.

She pulled her brunette hair into a high ponytail, put on a pair of sunglasses and enjoyed herself with her headphones on.

She debuted her baby bump during the Berlinale premiere of her film La Cocina, a drama about a Manhattan restaurant by Mexican director Alonso Ruizpalacios.

Rooney cut a radiant figure on the red carpet in a strapless black dress with soft ruffles that ended in a train with a touch of retro chic.

As the shutterbugs darted toward her, she wrapped her hands around her waist and pulled the fabric tight to give her burgeoning bump relief.

Rooney and Joaquin began their romance in 2016 and in 2020 they welcomed their son River, named after Joaquin’s late brother, a Hollywood heartthrob who died of a cocaine and morphine overdose at the age of 23.

Joaquin and Rooney are known for being studiously private about their personal lives. They wait months after their son’s birth before discussing the issue publicly.

News of River’s arrival emerged in September 2020 when Russian filmmaker Victor Kossakovsky leaked the information at the Zurich Film Festival.

The director premiered his documentary Gunda, with Joaquin as executive producer, and discussed the film’s star during an on-stage Q&A session.

“He just had a baby, by the way,” Victor told the live audience in a sound byte that quickly went viral. “A beautiful son named River.”

“That I’m like, ‘Oh, I’ll only go to work once a year if something feels right, and other than that, this is what I do.’ Most people don’t have that option.’
