RTX 5090 from NVIDIA is now one of the most popular GPUs in Steam – while AMD’s RX 9070 XT is nowhere to be seen, and I find this astonishing

- AMD’s RDNA 4 GPUs are not even in the best -ranked graphics cards of Steam
- Blackwell GPUs from Nvidia, on the other hand, have improved
- The GPUs of Nvidia are also too much on Amazon on Amazon and it starts to feel that Team Red has a losing battle – which is not good news for consumers
As July starts, we have a few sets of GPU figures to digest: the Steam Hardware Survey and the rankings for best-selling graphic cards on Amazon In the US. And it seems that these are careful for AMD.
Let’s look first Steam’s survey for last month (June), in which Nvidia‘S Blackwell GPUs (introduced from the start of this year) do much better than the newcomer RDNA 4 graphic cards from AMD.
When Tom’s Hardware noticed itNVIDIA now has 3.7% of the steam gamers that its Blackwell performs GPUs, and that includes 0.99% with an RTX 5070 (the top performance), with 0.55% using an RTX 5070 TI. Even the powerful (and powerful) RTX 5090 has now registered in the ranking of Steam, albeit near the bottom, with 0.19%.
Of course, given his price, Blackwell -Flaggenschip is a very niche proposition for gamers -and yet it is ahead of the RX 9070 XT, which does not have enough market share to even register for the Valve ranking.
In fact, the same applies to each model of the new RDNA 4 range of AMD, which none of all are present in the survey in June. (They are all combined with the ‘other’ category that represents 8% of the GPUs that do not have enough share to be registered – less than 0.15%, to be precise).
Transfer to Amazon’s sales figures, as provided by regular Leaker Techepiphany on x (Marked by WCCTech). This is a less extreme photo for AMD, but still a worrying one.

Fortunately, the RX 9070 XT is not completely off the radar here, because it is on steam. I would also not expect this to be – reports from the past of retailers (applies herbs) that it was shifting at a rapid pace. In the Amazon (US) sales statistics before June, however, the AMD GPU is still lagging behind its large Nvidia rivals.
The best -selling graphic map on Amazon in June was the NVIDIA RTX 5070 with 5,450 units, followed by the RTX 5060 TI (4,950 units) and the RTX 5070 TI was third (4,400). The RX 9070 XT is the fourth most popular GPU with 3,800 units sold, but other RDNA 4 models are far from the pace (the vanilla RX 9070 sold only 850 and even reached the top 10).
In general, Nvidia cries 70% of sales (and almost 80% of the turnover, not surprising, given some of Blackwell’s heavy price tags), and AMD has to scratch its head to a certain extent.
Analysis: Bad news for consumers
Okay, so the RX 9070 XT does not sell anything in any way, we know that. But it sells 15% less than the rival RTX 5070 Ti, at least against these June figures from Amazon (again, add salt). That must be a bit worse for Team Red.
This is an AMD -GPU that offers almost the same performance level as the 5070 TI (DLSS 4 aside) – with the frame reasons of the 9070 XT considerably stimulated in recent times Due to the improvements of Radeon Driver – and you still pay much more for the Nvidia -Graphic card. As we discussed yesterday, the value proposition of the 9070 XT is currently much stronger, and It seems like a good time to buy the GPU. Remember that all this is poured against a background of the technical clutter of Nvidia with its RTX 5000 range, and a whole load of driver misery who have thrown a bleak cloud over Blackwell.
To be honest, it is fully astonishing that the RX 9070 XT should not even be registered in the GPU ranking for the Steam Survey. I mean, I can only imagine that this AMD -Grafic card is just outside the graph and it is about to make it next month – even then it would still be very slow (if it happens). Especially when you consider that, as noted, even the stupid expensive RTX 5090 is now in the ranking.
All this seems rather astonishing in many ways, and it is of course bad news for consumers. RDNA 4 is a large number of graphic cards, the RX 9070 XT is a strong performer In particular. And yes, granted, real selling prices have not been so close to the MSRP, which is disappointing, but not from RTX 5070 TI – And the AMD GPU is currently a much better value proposition.
So what gives? I honestly don’t know, but hope they were pretty fiercely burning of AMD who finally took grass rod from Nvidia in the Desktop gpu -earlings Seems to die now.
Of course we cannot write off RDNA 4 in any way. It is just starting to feel that AMD has a steep, or even vertical, climb to get back on the same way with Nvidia, to meantfully challenging team Green’s long-term dominance of the GPU world. Despite all the problems surrounding Blackwell, Nvidia does not seem to break, and indeed the sale of medium-sized graphic cards in particular the RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti-Beginnen to collect more pace.
