A desperate search for a missing teenager continues after a boy was swept into the water near a blowhole.

Two boys who were at the site at Cape Bridgewater, near Portland, about 365 kilometers southwest of Melbourne, on Tuesday fell into the water about 7.30pm.

The teenagers, aged 14 and 15, were on the rocks before a wave is believed to have swept them into the water.

The 14-year-old is still missing and authorities resumed their search for the boy Wednesday morning.

The 15-year-old boy managed to get out of the water safely before being taken to hospital.

Authorities have resumed their search for a teenage boy who remains missing after falling from rocks at a blowhole in south-west Victoria.

Ambulance Victoria said the 15-year-old was taken to Portland District Health Service in a stable condition after suffering minor injuries to parts of his upper and lower body.

Victoria Police confirmed search and rescue efforts are ongoing and police issued a notice earlier this morning.

“Police have this morning resumed the search for a missing teenager in the waters off Cape Bridgewater, near Portland,” they said in a statement.

‘A large-scale search operation was launched in the area with the assistance of Police Air Wing, Water Police, Coast Guard, HEMS ambulance helicopters and Marine Unit boats.’

The rescue effort for the teenager was halted at around 11.30pm last night after paramedics arrived on the scene following reports that the boy was in trouble.

Concerned family members were also in the area at the time, as a rescue helicopter flew over the beach in search of the boy.

Previously, Parks Victoria warned those planning to visit the blowholes near Portland that strong currents are a hazard, as are slippery rocks and unstable cliffs.

The campsite has a 400-metre gravel path where you can view the rock formations. Many visitors describe conditions as windy.

Cape Bridgewater is known for its beautiful beaches and coastlines, popular among locals and tourists.
