A secondary school in Coventry has been evacuated after a ‘threat’ was received this morning.

Students were rushed home from Meadow Park School just before classes were due to start at 8.30am.

Children in Year 11 were rushed to another nearby school so they could continue lessons ahead of the summer GCSE exams.

It follows a series of school evacuations in recent months, including one in nearby Warwick less than three weeks ago. In November a London The school was forced to evacuate students twice in four days after a false bomb threat.

Following the latest incident in Coventry, a spokesperson for Meadow Park School told The Sun: ‘Following a threat we received before the start of the school day, we informed the police and contacted parents to saying we had to close the school.

“The safety of our students is our first priority and our established contingency plan was activated to minimize disruption to students and the wider school community.”

The school has said it plans to reopen as normal tomorrow morning.

“Due to an evacuation, the school is closed to all students except for group 11,” the school said this morning.

‘Alternative arrangements are being made for their exams. Send Year 11 students to school as normal where they will receive further instructions.

‘The school was closed today as a precaution. Tomorrow morning (June 11) the school will open normally again for all students.

“Thank you for your support on this.”

MailOnline has contacted West Midlands Police for comment.
