Recently released footage has shown the moment a man killed his girlfriend’s seven-month-old girl after allegedly kidnapping her and driving his car into a home in Ohio.

Johnathon J Baker, 23, of North Baltimore, Ohio, allegedly took the child while armed with a gun. Soon after, he contacted the girl’s mother and told her that he was feeling homicidal and suicidal and said he killed the child.

Police dashboard and bodycam footage now reveal the moments before Baker accelerated in his yellow Camaro during a police chase and it crashed into the side of a house, killing the baby inside.

The alleged kidnapper is still in critical condition in hospital and police have launched a murder investigation.

At about 3:43 p.m., the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the kidnapping by Wood County deputies and told them that the kidnapper was headed their way with the Camaro.

Tiffin police said an off-duty officer located the man in the yellow Camaro and radioed the information to the emergency room.

Baker’s car was followed by police for several minutes before suddenly “erratically” jerking to the left and going off the road.

It took emergency responders an hour and a half to remove 23-year-old Baker from his vehicle.

Law enforcement did not confirm whether Baker was related to the child.

Chief David W. Pauly said in a statement: “The incident began yesterday, June 27, 2023, in the city of North Baltimore, Ohio, as a dispute between the child’s mother (name withheld) and her boyfriend, 23-year-old – old Johnathon J. Baker. Baker took the 7-month-old child and left in his vehicle.

Tiffin resident Jason Miller said he was at his home Tuesday afternoon when he heard the loud crash.

“There were seven or eight officers who stopped, got out, guns drawn, ran to the car,” Miller said. “Then I saw the paramedics pull over… they took the baby out right away.”

Police said when they searched the car they found a gun and two blank cartridges.

“My heart breaks for the family of this innocent child and rest assured that this case will be thoroughly investigated to determine exactly why and what happened today,” Tiffin Chief Pauly said.

“This was an unfortunate tragedy today and these things are also taking their toll on our first responders. My thoughts and prayers are with them too,” he added.
