The anonymous bargain hunter found the deal at Heron Foods and was amazed at the price – and how the items tasted.

The shopper posted it on a Facebook group called Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK – a group where Brits keep each other updated on the latest deals they’ve found.

The message read: ‘I thought this might help some people.

“Here’s Heron Foods’ freezer deal this week – and all I can say is the nuggets taste like McDonald’s.”

The deal includes frozen chicken nuggets, a 1.8kg bag of chips, popsicles and the choice of beans or mozzarella sticks.

The deal costs just €5 and is more than enough to feed a family of five, making it just €1 per meal – an essential saving for families struggling with the cost of living.

The spotter went on to say that she was “pleasantly surprised” by the taste of the meal, noting that the nuggets tasted “just like McDonald’s” after cooking them in her air fryer.

Commentators were quick to share their thoughts on the deal.

One user said: “Heron always has the best deals, it’s the best store to save money.”

And a second user said: “I wish we had one near Morecambe.”

A third agreed with the original poster, saying: “We buy these nuggets all the time, they actually taste like McDonald’s.”

But one disgruntled customer wasn’t as thrilled after trying another item in the deal.

They said, “However, the chips are like french fries cut in half.”

LITTLE KNOWN SUPERMARKET: HERON FOOD

Heron Foods has hundreds of branches across the country, and prides itself on offering ‘big name bargains for less’, helping to save Brits money on their monthly groceries.

The frozen supermarket – which also stocks chilled items – was a family business until it was bought by B&M Stores in 2017.

Since the takeover, the company has multiplied its retail offering and now employs more than 5,000 people across 300 stores.

Most locations are in the North East and Midlands, but the network is expanding and there are already some stores in Cardiff and Luton.

Shoppers often discover bargains in store and quickly spread the word so that other punters can take advantage of the items on offer.

MORE BASKET VALUE BARGAIN

Recently, choco-holics went crazy with deals on “party size” bags of M&Ms that were deeply discounted.

And last month, besotted shoppers rushed to Heron Foods to grab their epic Valentine’s Day deal.

But it’s not just Heron shoppers enjoying money-saving bargains.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, another family favorite supermarket is selling a Cadbury chocolate box at a discounted price.

And finally, deal-chasers were delighted after a savvy shopper found luxury chocolates on offer for just £1.
