Shreyas Iyer to play Ranji semi-final for Mumbai amid rumors of central contract abolition: report

New Delhi: Indian cricketers Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan made headlines following reports claiming that BCCI will ax their central contract as IPL takes precedence over international and domestic cricket.

Ishan Kishan was last seen in the T20I series against Australia just after the ODI World Cup. He was also part of the Indian squad that played two Test match series against South Africa, but he requested a break due to mental fatigue.

Shreyas Iyer was left out of the Indian squad for the last three Tests against England and had opted out of Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy quarter-final against Baroda due to back pain.

However, Shreyas Iyer will play in the Ranji Trophy semi-final for Mumbai, TOI reported.

Earlier, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had warned the centrally contracted and India ‘A’ cricketers against non-participation in domestic cricket, arguing that such a move by them to prioritize IPL over domestic cricket would have dire consequences.
