Special Forces’ Tyler Cameron Calls Reality TV ‘Psychological Warfare’

Tyler Cameron’s time on The Bachelorette wasn’t exactly a walk in the park, but he’d rather look for love than find himself in yet another season Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test.

“Both [shows are] psychological warfare,” Cameron, 30, exclusively shared We weekly on Monday, November 27, ahead of the season 2 finale. “But I would definitely say so Special forces is more difficult. Cameron joined season 2 of Special forces, which premiered in September along with other reality stars like Bachelor Nick Vial, Vanderpump Rules’ Tom Sandoval And JoJo Siwa. The Fox reality show follows a group of celebrities to a remote location where they are forced to conduct training exercises led by special forces agents. While season 1 was set in Jordan, season 2 saw the recruits battle the harsh winter months in the mountains of New Zealand, where they faced rugged terrain, freezing temperatures and more.

For the final course of Season 2, Cameron – along with Siwa, 20, Sandoval, 41, Viall, 43, and Olympic gold medalist Erin Jackson– were ‘captured’ and forced to run all night before being put through a tough interrogation process designed to push them to their limits. After eight grueling days, Cameron learned he had passed the course.

“I was on the edge the whole time,” he said Us of the last challenge. “I thought: I don’t know how to continue. I feel like they’re going to kill me in this sentence. I’m past freezing. It feels like I have hypothermia. I’ve never had it before, [but] I was hammering and shaking.”

Tyler compared his time to Special forces to that of playing in a “video game,” noting that what his brother does is “real life.”

“But to hear him say that, it’s like, ‘Damn, I did it in front of him,’” he continued. “That’s one thing. I wanted to get: his respect. … So that’s something that kept me going through it.”

While Special forces makes it clear that no gifts or rewards will be given out for taking part in the show, Cameron joked that he hoped there was “something more” to completing the course. ‘Give me a trophy. You know what I mean?” he joked. “I thought, ‘Did I really pass?’ I was so insecure. And I was so cold that my mind just shot.

Cameron added that it took him “a minute” to register the accompaniment, which is why viewers likely saw “no emotion” on his face during the season 2 finale.

“I’m not even in my own body anymore,” he said. “I just checked out, hoping to survive. It’s not until they come up to us and give us a hug or whatever that I think, ‘Oh wait, I actually passed and did this thing.’ And then I think the whole feeling of joy and relief comes. Afterwards I had so much more energy.”

As the recruits come in Special forces As individuals, they are often confronted with group tasks and find themselves asking each other for strength throughout the process. Tyler in particular was noted by his fellow castmates as a leader and a huge team player — something the reality star said he learned early in life.

“It’s almost like you’re just trying to push people past places we’ve never been before,” he explained. Us. “And I think when you go through something like we went through, it brings you together and builds a bond. That’s something I love about football. We would get up at 5:30 in the morning and do crazy workouts, workouts and all that stuff. It created a bond because we were trying to do something bigger than ourselves.”

While Tyler managed to succeed in New Zealand’s tough terrain, another round of trying to find love on TV still seems out of the question. The model, which came second during by Hannah Brown season of The Bacheloretterevealed in August 2021 that he was asked to take up the mantle next Bachelor education but ultimately declined.

“I wanted to see what the world has to offer me,” he said during an episode of BroBible’s “Endless Hustle” podcast. “I took a chance on myself and went my own way. I think it worked.”
