At least 13 anti-Israel demonstrators were arrested at Stanford University on Wednesday when demonstrators stormed the president’s office and plastered hateful graffiti across the campus.

The takeover began around 5:30 a.m. on the last day of classes before spring quarter, when protesters barricaded themselves inside while others outside waved their arms and chanted, “Palestine will be free, we will free Palestine.”

The university said the protesters caused “major damage” to buildings on campus.

Photos posted to social media showed “F*** Amerikkka” spray-painted on a memorial to soldiers killed in the Spanish-American War.

The students have called on the school to divest from companies associated with it Israel‘s war Gazain addition to other requirements.

A video from the National Students for Justice in Palestine showed an activist wearing a piece of clothing a face covering, glasses and a keffiyeh says the group refused to leave until the school divests and makes public their investments for the 2022 financial year and grants amnesty to all student protesters.

According to the Stanford Daily, police used a crowbar to force their way into the building about two hours after the demonstration began.

Within about two hours, officers had entered the building and taken people into custody.

“Police have arrested 13 people and the building has been evacuated,” said university spokesperson Dee Mostofi.

“A public safety officer was injured after being pushed by protesters who interfered with a transport vehicle.

“There is extensive damage to the interior and exterior of the building,” Mostofi said. “No other campus activities are affected at this time.”

The university said 13 people had been arrested and the school newspaper reported the Stanford Daily one of the journalists was among those arrested.

Stanford is one of many colleges and universities across the country where pro-Palestinian campus protests have taken place.

In May, someone at the Stanford encampment was pictured wearing the the same green headband worn by Hamas terrorist fighters in Gaza.

In addition to the headband, they wore a face covering, glasses, a keffiyeh draped around their shoulders and looking at a phone, averting their gaze from the camera.

RRepresentatives of the institution issued the following statement about the photo: “We have received many expressions of concern regarding a photo circulating on social media of an individual at White Plaza who appeared to be wearing a green headband, similar to that worn by members of Hamas .

“We find this deeply troubling as Hamas has been designated a terrorist organization by the US government. We have not been able to identify the individual, but have forwarded the photo to the FBI.”
