State of Origin 2024: Blues star Jake Trbojevic becomes a meme as his face speaks volumes during ‘hipster’ rendition of national anthem

Blues captain Jake Trbojevic has become a meme on social media after his reaction to a ‘hipster’ version of the national anthem.

Ahead of Game One of 2024’s State of Origin, Australian Idol winner Dylan Wright delivered a stripped-down version of Advance Australia Fair to a packed house at Sydney’s Accor Stadium.

As the camera panned over the teams in NSW and Queensland, 30-year-old Trbojevic seemed rather unimpressed by Wright’s interpretation of the national anthem written by Scottish-born Australian composer Peter Dodds.

His expression quickly became a meme on social media, with viewers posting a screenshot of the moment from the broadcast, along with what they thought Jake was thinking.

“Jake is all watching that guy butchering the national anthem,” wrote one commenter on X, formerly known as Twitter.
