Revealed: The F-bomb outburst Origin great Nate Myles screamed at Joseph Sua’ali’i after his horror tackle on Reece Walsh – as he doubles down despite getting busted by the NRL

  • Queensland’s assistant coach lost his cool on the sidelines
  • Joseph Sua’ali’i saw him achieve the fastest Origin send-off ever

Queensland Origin great Nate Myles repeatedly shouted ‘enjoy your f**king debut’ at Joseph Sua’ali’i after being sent off for beating Reece Walsh on Wednesday night – and refuses to back down after receiving an official warning has received from the NRL.

Myles was on the substitutes’ bench at Sydney’s Accor Stadium in his role as assistant coach of the Maroons and he jumped up to confront the Roosters star after his sickening goal in the seventh minute of the first match.

The 38-year-old only stopped his outburst when the NRL ground manager intervened, and he was later given an official warning by the league.

After full time, Myles explained why he was so furious about the goal, which leveled Walsh and saw him out of the match.

‘He [Sua’ali’i] I did it wrong and it’s a shame, it doesn’t look good for the game,” Myles said.

‘If you’re not good enough to fire that [make a clean hit] every time you have to keep it under control.

‘Controlled aggression is the key now. Controlled aggression is not hitting the right spot every time, but what you do on every play.

“That play on Reece at the back, they didn’t do well and it’s an unfortunate look at the game.”

When asked what he shouted at the Blues star, Myles joked: “I can’t remember… I’ve had too many head bumps.”

Sua’ali’i set a record for the fastest send-off in Origin history as he became only the sixth player to be marched off the field since the start of the interstate series.

Referee Ashley Klein’s decision to end Sua’ali’i’s evening was the subject of intense debate after the match, with two football legends coming under fire for arguing it did not warrant a dismissal.

Footy Immortal Andrew Johns said he was ‘really surprised’ the center of the pitch was marched.

‘In clubland it is indeed a farewell. But at this level, I’m really surprised that they sent Joseph Sua’ali’i away,” he said in Channel Nine’s reporting.

That wasn’t a huge surprise from one of the biggest names in Blues history, but the reaction from one-eyed Queensland supporter and Maroons legend Paul Vautin was a real eye-opener.

“Suaalii thinks he’s going to punch him in the chest but Reece Walsh ducks – it’s reckless and careless, but it’s not intentional,” he said.

‘I don’t think it’s a goodbye. [Referee] Ashley Klein looked down and saw Reece snoring, so he immediately thought it was a suicide note.”

Footy fans lashed out at their stance on social media, with one writing: ‘It doesn’t matter it’s Origin, it’s a dog shot.’

‘Anyone who thinks this is NOT goodbye: time to get out from under your rock and jump into your time machine. Not the eighties anymore. That action is career-ending. From the wrong angle: it’s a life-ender,” another commented.

Martin Lang – who played eight games for Queensland from 1998 to 2000 – added: “I applaud the match officials. Direct contact with the head. If it’s a broadcast in the NRL, it’s a broadcast in the state of origin.’
