“There was probably a point where I thought I didn’t want to be an Olympian anymore, if I had already given up on that dream,” Jack said.

‘But I didn’t and I know that my family, friends and my partner are really proud of me, whatever happened tonight, and that the rest of this week is about me and what I wanted to achieve since I was young. girl.’

After her tough journey, which saw her appeal her ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Jack said she wanted to enjoy the moment.

“I definitely went into this thinking, I really want to enjoy the journey,” she said.

‘I really don’t want to go through a phase where I don’t like the sport anymore.

“So I really wanted to go into this, enjoying the journey, and remembering that whatever I’ve done, I’ve put in the work, given it my all, and basically be proud of myself no matter what.”

Jack could still compete for Australia in the 100m and 50m freestyle if they perform well in the heats on Friday and Saturday respectively.

“Last year I was lucky enough to be part of the 4x200m relay [at the Commonwealth Games] that did break the world record,” said Jack.
