Temperatures are expected to drop as a polar explosion hits Australia this weekend.
During the second week of winter, a strong cold front moves across much of southeastern Australia, bringing frosty mornings and significantly cooler temperatures.
Weather Zone meteorologist Quincy Tut told Daily Mail Australia the showers would continue throughout the weekend.
“A low-pressure system that has brought rain in recent days has moved towards the coast and showers are expected to occur from this afternoon,” he said.
Rain will begin over Victoria on Friday morning before the system moves on New South Wales and then Brisbane on Saturday.

“A southerly eruption, associated with a deeper low over the Tasman, will begin to move along the coast,” Tut said on Friday.
“Showers will continue across most of NSW from this afternoon.”
Showers are expected to taper off Sunday afternoon as the low-pressure system moves further offshore, but temperatures will remain frigid.
Mr Tut said temperatures in Victoria in June were one to two degrees below the maximum average temperature.
Temperatures are also slightly below average in NSW.
Sydney
There is a high chance of rain, ranging from 5 to 15 mm in Sydney from the afternoon to evening on Friday, with temperatures reaching 17 degrees Celsius.
Morning showers are also forecast for Saturday, especially on the Sydney coast, with temperatures between 11 and 17 degrees Celsius. However, showers should taper off on Sunday.
The cold front will bring significant snowfall to the Alpine resorts after a less favorable opening of the ski season. The Bureau of Meteorology predicts 5 to 20 cm.
Sydney has already received almost double its average June rainfall in just two weeks, with showers expected to continue this weekend.
The heaviest falls of 30mm to 40mm are expected in the NSW metropolitan area and Hunter region.
Temperatures are expected to reach highs of 18 degrees and lows of 7 degrees this weekend.

Brisbane
Brisbane is expected to remain dry and avoid frost, with sunny conditions and light winds forecast. Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 23 degrees Celsius and a low of 9 degrees this weekend.
Canberra
Meanwhile, Canberra is forecast to plunge into negative figures on Sunday morning with an icy forecast of -1 degrees Celsius, rising to just 13 degrees Celsius over the weekend.
These conditions are expected to persist until next week, when the country’s capital is expected to see lows as low as -3C until Tuesday.
Melbourne
Melbourne was on track to experience its coldest day in five years, with a high of just 10.1 degrees Celsius at 3pm on Thursday – 4 degrees below average.
“Today was by far the coldest day of the year so far in Melbourne, which certainly pushed the goalposts closer and closer to mid-winter,” Sky News meteorologist Alison Osborne said of the low temperatures.
Late showers are forecast in the city on Friday, but temperatures may rise to a maximum of 13 degrees.
Temperatures are expected to reach a low of 7ºC and a high of 15ºC on Saturday. A temperature of 5 to 14 degrees is forecast for Sunday, with a small chance of showers in the northwestern suburbs.
Perth
Perth was unable to escape the rain and was warned to brace for a very high chance of rain on Saturday, with as much as 7mm on Sunday.
Weekly rainfall totals exceeded 100mm and there were isolated totals of more than 200mm in the Illawarra district of NSW, while parts of the Central West and Gascoyne districts of Western Australia recorded weekly totals of more than 100mm.
High temperatures are expected to remain around 20 degrees Celsius, with a low of 10 degrees Celsius.
Adelaide
Adelaide is expected to receive heavy rain, with a 100 per cent chance of up to 8mm on Friday, tapering to 2mm on Saturday.
This weekend temperatures will reach a minimum of 5 degrees and a maximum of 17 degrees.
Hobart
Hobart’s weekend forecast includes temperatures dropping as low as 6 degrees Celsius, with a high chance of up to 7mm of rain, especially on Sunday afternoon.
There is a moderate chance of showers on Friday, most likely in the morning, followed by rain over the weekend.
Darwin
Darwin is the place to be this week for those who hate the cold.
The Northern Territory’s capital is expected to experience sunny conditions with high temperatures expected to remain around 30 degrees.
