'Friendship, love and respect. That is what drives them,” a good friend of the King and Queen recently told me.

'They are very different people in many ways, but at the core you have two people who really love and respect each other and still laugh a lot. It's really sweet.'

It is a judgment emphasized by Annabel Elliot, Camilla's sister, who described them in a BBC interview last month as 'yin and yang' but as an extremely 'brilliant' team.

And that is why I have no doubt that Queen Camilla will be more of a rock for the King than ever in the coming difficult months.

Naturally, the disturbing news that her husband has been diagnosed with cancer will be a huge blow to Her Majesty.

From the moment they first fell in love in their early twenties, Charles and Camilla's lives have been inextricably linked.

While their story may not have been a conventional love story – the late Queen Elizabeth at one point feared that the couple's passion could spell the downfall of the monarchy – it is one that can ultimately be regarded as one of the most enduring of our time.

Their Majesties will celebrate their twentieth wedding anniversary next year, a milestone that many once thought utterly impossible.

But the Queen is also stoic – the definition of the British stiff upper lip – and someone who takes things very easily.

I'm sure her approach to this devastating news will be typically calm and pragmatic, and she will insist on being by her husband's side and supporting him every step of the way.

I can tell you that she was with him last night at Clarence House when he returned to London to begin outpatient hospital treatment.

And I am told that while she is understandably concerned and preparing to 'play an important role in supporting the King during his period of treatment', she plans to continue a full program of public duties at the same time.

That British stiff upper lip again.

“She's a fucking brick,” says a friend.

Ironically, in the early days of their marriage, it was Charles who protected Camilla the most because he knew the magnitude of what she had taken on to be by his side.

On their first official trip to the US after their wedding in 2005, I watched as the future king instinctively reached into the aisle of our plane and squeezed his wife's shaking hand as we took off, knowing how terrified she was of flying (although I also subsequently heard him shout during one particularly bumpy flight, “Honey, please don't hold me so hard!”)

But over the years, Camilla has blossomed, becoming increasingly confident under the often very cruel public spotlight and gaining admiration for her work ethic and confidence in taking on old-fashioned causes.

Of course, things haven't always gone smoothly.

Camilla's relationship with William and Harry has always been extremely complex.

But privately, William recognizes how happy Camilla has made their father and appreciates the fact that she never tried to interfere in their lives.

There is also admiration for the way she has zealously embraced royal duties at a time in her life when most people would be slowing down – without a peep of complaint.

'The King and Queen know what their role is, why they do it and what they want to achieve. She has become increasingly bold in the work she does, tackling difficult issues such as domestic violence but not stepping on any toes. They work well together and there is a lot of mutual trust,” the friend said.

The same band is also visible in private.

'They get along great, they share the same sense of humor and make each other laugh. They have the same interests: the countryside, walking, their dogs… and yes, the Queen also knows when to make a hasty retreat. She knows when to give him space,” another source added.

Although she strongly supports her husband's dedication to the causes he holds dear, Camilla also doesn't mind poking lovingly at that seriousness every now and then.

More than once over the years, I've caught her eye as her husband waxes lyrical about a cause close to his heart, a knowing smile on her lips and a mischievous glint in her eye.

During an official visit to Egypt several years ago, the entire royal entourage was forced to rough it somewhat in modest mud-brick houses because Charles was eager to visit an eco-friendly, electricity-free village.

His wife later confided to me, amid much amusing eye-rolling, that the lack of electrical outlets was “all well and good if you don't have to use a blooming hairdryer.”

But don't mistake her ability to sometimes laugh at the absurdities of the position she found herself in as a sign of casual disgust. Queen Camilla is fiercely loyal to 'her husband' – and woe betide anyone who disrespects him.

“It sounds so terribly cliché, but she truly respects her husband, his drive, his passion to change the world for the better,” says another confidante.

“She is his fiercest champion and no one should underestimate her loyalty to him. They come as a team. Disrespect him is at your peril.”

In all the years I have worked with her, I have never heard Camilla refer to her husband as anything other than 'His Royal Highness, the Prince, the King or His Majesty', even in private.

“She has enormous respect for her husband as a king, but also as a man, and for the institution of the monarchy,” another source added. “That's something Queen Elizabeth also came to admire.”

And a friend tells me that as Camilla becomes tolerant of her husband's idiosyncrasies, he is just as patient with hers.

“He has, how should I put it, brought a bit of discipline to her, er, somewhat disorganized routine,” they noted wryly, with a nod to Camilla's notorious sloppiness and previously rather “relaxed” attitude to life.

Of course there is friction every now and then.

The king can become irritable if his wife talks too much. She wishes he would go slower, just a touch.

But they are small, everyday marital disputes and the king is clearly grateful to have someone with whom to share this rather strange and sometimes lonely life.

You only had to see the smile of undisguised pride that lit up his face as he watched his wife walk out of Buckingham Palace in her coronation get-up last May to understand how much she means to him.

They still have separate homes: Camilla has Raymill in Wiltshire, bought as a single woman, where she lives an informal existence away from strict palace life, while Charles still loves the formality/informality of Highgrove in nearby Gloucestershire .

But they are still close, so confident in their relationship that they can just sit in a room and read, without saying a word – just the occasional smile.

Charles has also embraced Camilla's family like his own. He has a huge bond with her sister Annabel, who will provide a shoulder to cry on for her sister who lost her husband to a long-term illness a few days before the coronation last year.

And he adores her children, Tom and Laura, and her five grandchildren.

During an interview five years ago, Camilla told me how her husband was a brilliant storyteller, who regularly read to the children at bedtime, especially Harry Potter, and did all the different voices for them. They were always fascinated, she said.

It is a side of the King that few get to hear about.

Above all, there is laughter. The kind of painful, heart-wrenching laughter that makes you weak in the knees.

At royal engagements, you'll often see the couple literally crying over a shared joke, appearing again and again as they grab each other's attention – no mean feat after 18 years of marriage – especially when things don't go quite to plan.

Laughter is something they will need more than ever as a couple as they face the King's current health crisis.

And like everything in life, it is something they will tackle together, united.

King and queen, but more importantly, husband and wife.

EastEnders actor Max Bowden was caught telling fans he was 'so bloody excited' to get out as he filmed some of his final scenes for the BBC soap.

The 29-year-old soap star, who was axed from the series after four years, was filmed by a fan holding him back as he left the set in a clip obtained by the Sun.

Max was spotted by fans after filming at Elstree Studios, Borehamwood, as he shot his character's exit scenes, which will air in the spring.

During the clip, Max told the Sun: 'Anyone listening to this audio will hear clearly that this is not a foul-mouthed rant. I talked about my excitement for the future and what's to come.'

Max's contract as Ben Mitchell's player was not renewed after he reportedly received warnings from the boss about his behaviour.

The sun on Sunday claimed that the decision not to renew Max's contract was made after they disciplined him.

A source said: 'Max is ready to move on. He is proud of his time on the show and what he has achieved, but he is focused on new projects and what he will do next.”

It was reported that the actor had made decisions with bosses for a talk with executives about his off-screen drama in 2022.

A TV source said: 'Max was called by executives for an interview. He is an extremely talented actor and was always a true professional on set. However, there were concerns that his partying lifestyle away from the set could prove a distraction.'

Off-screen, Max had been dating his co-star Shona McGarty, 32, for six months before they decided to call time on their romance. Shona will also leave the soap in the coming weeks after 15 years.

Sources claimed the pair were 'inseparable' following his split from girlfriend Roisin Buckle, and they made their relationship official on Instagram in August 2022.

However, Max and Shona split in October 2022, with sources claiming the pair had decided to remain friends after Max welcomed a baby boy with his ex Roisin.

Their relationship started when his ex-girlfriend Roisin, 38, was pregnant with their child.

In September 2022, Max revealed that he was a father for the first time after the birth of his son.

Roisin and Max both shared a sweet black and white photo of their son, who was born on September 19, 2022, as they revealed they named him Reginald.

They revealed they were expecting their first child in April 2022. The soap star met Roisin in a pub in June 2021. The pair quickly bonded and went on holiday to Madeira in July.

His final scenes will air in the spring, but it is understood that his character Ben, who has been played by numerous actors in the past, will not be killed off.

An EastEnders spokesperson told MailOnline: 'Max will be leaving EastEnders next year. We wish him all the best for the future.'

A TV insider said this The sun: 'Max has been playing Ben for the past four years and the bosses decided his time on the show was over.

“There's been a lot of noise around him for a little too long and that can take away from the drama in the show.

In photos obtained by The sunthe soap star emerged from the scene without any injuries, despite the vehicle's bumper being completely destroyed.

A source told the publication: 'It all happened very quickly. We just saw that this car was completely demolished and then my girlfriend said, “Is that Ben Mitchell?”

A Surrey Police spokeswoman said: “We were called to a collision involving three vehicles in Sunbury-on-Thames on Friday.

White House staff had to be 'relocated' after thousands of pro-Palestine supporters forced their way into the building, threatening to breach the security fence and wave over bloodied dolls as part of a huge demonstration calling for a ceasefire against Gaza demanded.

Law enforcement officers defending the People's House donned riot gear as a baying mob pelted them with dolls and other projectiles.

A video taken during Saturday's event shows the metal perimeter being shaken so hard that parts of it were redirected, forcing Secret Service agents to rush to one section to prevent a breach.

The Secret Service later confirmed that the anti-limescale fence suffered “temporary damage,” which was “immediately repaired.”

The meeting is part of a global day of protest marking 100 days since the October 7 Hamas attack that killed 1,200 people and took hundreds of others hostage.

Since then, Israel's retaliatory bombing campaign has killed more than 23,800 people in Gaza, according to the Israeli Health Ministry.

Tonight's demonstration is the second largest in support of Gaza to be held outside the White House in Washington since the war began.

The temporary destruction caused during the meeting meant that White House staff and journalists had to be evacuated from the area.

“Out of an abundance of caution, some members of the media and staff near Pennsylvania Avenue were temporarily relocated while the matter was addressed,” the Secret Service said. Fox news.

“The Secret Service made no arrests in connection with the march and there was no property damage to the White House or adjacent buildings.”

Protesters calling for a ceasefire used emotional symbols to convey their message. At one point, women in Palestinian clothing staged a protest with bloodied dolls tied in sheets.

Nearly two-thirds of the 23,843 people killed in the conflict are women and children, according to the Health Ministry.

Protesters also carried Palestinian flags and held up signs questioning President Joe Biden's viability as a presidential candidate because of his staunch support for Israel.

Some signs read: “No votes for Genocide Joe,” “Biden has blood on his hands” and “Let Gaza live.”

Vendors also sold South African flags as protesters chanted slogans in support of the country whose genocide allegations against Israel prompted the International Court of Justice in The Hague to hear the case.

Dan Devries, a New York resident, said he attended the protest because he wants to see a free Gaza, but that he would not vote for Biden or possible Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

“I see this war as part of the American effort to compensate for the economic decline by constantly waging war,” Devries said.

Washington resident Phil Kline held up a sign calling on Pope Francis to excommunicate Biden.

'I know he's a devout Catholic. Maybe he will take this issue seriously if the Pope deposes him Ffrom the church. There is no justification for bombing civilians,” Kline said, although he added that he still plans to vote for Biden in the November election.

The meeting was organized by the American Muslim Task Force for Palestine and other groups.

It took place alongside demonstrations in London, Paris, Rome, Dublin, Johannesburg and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

Relatives of Palestinians killed in the conflict, grief-stricken stories with thousands of protesters gathering in downtown Washington.

Adam Aboshirieah, one of the speakers, said more than 100 family members, including his 83-year-old father, mother and brother, have been killed in Israeli airstrikes.

“Dozens of bodies of my relatives are still buried under the rubble,” said Aboshirieah, a pharmacist from New Jersey. “President Biden can easily put an end to this genocide… He can easily pick up the phone and call Israel to stop this madness.”

The demonstration came a day after the US launched a second round of attacks on Houthi targets in Yemen, a move that also sparked protests in New York and Seattle.

The attack was in response to months of attacks by the Houthis on ships in the Red Sea, which they said were aimed at ending Israel's siege of Gaza.

However, the ships targeted by the Iran-backed rebels had become increasingly indiscriminate and they were warned that they would face consequences if they did not stop their attacks.

While Biden has long been a staunch supporter of Israel, he has expressed concern about civilian deaths as the war has dragged on.

He previously described Israel's bombing campaign as “indiscriminate” and said Monday that he had been working “quietly” with the Israeli government to encourage it to reduce its attacks and “significantly leave Gaza.”

Retired BBC royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell has revealed that Charles hasn’t spoken to him for ‘years’ after a story he wrote enraged the then-future king – and sparked those famous hot mic comments.

The veteran royal correspondent, who steps down next year, was the target of the then Prince of Wales’s annoyance during a photo shoot with William and Harry in the Swiss Alps in 2005, just eight days before Charles was due to marry Queen Camilla.

The then-Prince of Wales was angry when Witchell asked him how he felt about his upcoming wedding, prompting the future monarch to say quietly, “Bloody people.” I can’t stand that man. I mean, he’s so terrible, he really is.’

In an interview with Sunday times, the journalist has now explained exactly why Charles was so angry, saying that a piece he had written about a holiday he took with Camilla on a friend’s yacht had fueled the anger.

He said: ‘I had likened it to holidays taken by a former Prince of Wales [Edward VIII] with his mistress [Wallis Simpson], and I know he really didn’t like that. He was very angry.’

The ex-BBC man revealed that Charles stopped speaking to him for several years, something the journalist said did not hurt his career as it proved he was not ‘blowing smoke into the back of the royal family’.

Witchell said he and the monarch were eventually reconciled, and the king had even become patron of the Normandy Memorial Trust, which the journalist co-founded.

Earlier this year, Witchell revealed he was ‘shocked’ when he realized exactly what Charles had said about him in 2005. He said his question to the royal family had gone ‘terribly wrong’, adding: ‘I was shocked, but to be completely honest ‘we’re all mumbling under our breath, aren’t we?’

The journalist, who has been reporting on the royal family since 1998, announced last week that he will retire next year.

He joined the broadcaster in 1976 as a graduate news intern.

King Charles had been on holiday at the Klosters resort when he was contacted by Mr Witchell, who asked: ‘May I ask how you and Princes William and Harry feel about the prospect of marriage?’

Speak with The Telegraphthe journalist said he hoped with his question that Prince Harry and William would ‘endorse the wedding’.

“But it just went terribly wrong,” he said.

‘People were not in the best mood that morning. It actually sounds like the most idiotic and pathetic question: “What do you think of the wedding?”

‘But if you unpack that a bit, as the then Prince of Wales did straight away… I could see his face change color slightly.’

Charles initially interrupted him before Mr. Witchell had completed his question, saying, “You’ve heard of it, haven’t you?”

William said politely: “Very happy, very satisfied. It’s going to be a good day.’

Before Charles began his tirade, he said again, “I’m really glad you heard about it.”

Aides suggested Charles was annoyed because William and Kate Middleton – then the prince’s girlfriend – had been photographed the previous day.

Paddy Harverson, Charles’ press secretary at the time, said: ‘We recognize that we cannot stop photographers from taking these photographs, but we hope every year that they will respect the privacy of family and friends and their need for a private holiday.’

Harverson later said: “Nicholas was in the line of fire when the prince expressed his general frustration with the paparazzi and it boiled over at the first person who asked a question,” he said.

‘It wasn’t personal. He regrets saying it. He really didn’t mean to take it out on Nicholas.’

Mr Witchell said this weekend that Charles had not apologized, but he had not expected to either.

He said there was “no contact” between the pair for “a number of years” before they had a “rapprochement” in Saudi Arabia.

Mr Witchell broadcast the confirmed news of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales on August 31, 1997, and provided live radio commentary from outside Westminster Abbey at her funeral.

The 70-year-old first joined the BBC after completing a law degree at the University of Leeds, and later became a BBC reporter in Northern Ireland in 1979, where he covered the murder of Earl Mountbatten, among other things and the IRA hunger strikes.

One lucky fan can now walk a mile in Travis Barker‘s shoes after the drummer sold a pair of his favorite Vans for $4,000.

Barker, 48, offered the kicks – which he wore during Blink-182’s 2023 world tour – through the collectibles website Trophy. As can be seen from the images on the website, the size 9.5 vans look worn, distressed and covered in Barker’s own blood. The shoes were shipped in a “museum-quality display case” and each trophy came with a signed certificate of authenticity. The identity of the customer who scored the shoes has not yet been released.

Blink-182 – includes Barker, guitarist Tom DeLonge and singer Mark Hoppus – kicked them off Hard tour in May, taking a break after the birth of Barker and his wife Kourtney Kardashian‘s first child together last month.
