It is Holly’s first show outside of terrestrial television.

A show insider told MailOnline: ‘It’s a great and exciting new series and of course a great challenge for Holly.

“It’s a great opportunity for her.”

In the show, which is produced by Grylls’ company, he will chase celebrity contestants and when he catches them, they will be eliminated.

Holly’s new job comes just days after Cat Deeley replaced her on This Morning, five months after she announced her departure.

She will begin filming the program later this year and it is expected to air in 2025.

In a statement to the Mail, he said he was ‘deeply sorry’ for lying about the relationship with ITV, his colleagues, friends and agents.

He said: ‘I was in a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning.

“Contrary to speculation, while I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him get on television, it wasn’t until he started working on the show that it became more than just a friendship.

‘That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It’s over now.’

However, his comeback was short-lived as he withdrew due to illness after just six holes of the second round.

As the 48-year-old continues his recovery from ankle surgery last year, it has been revealed he will play at the Masters from April 8 to 14.

He has won the event five times and last wore the green jacket in 2019.

Woods returned to Augusta in 2022 and finished 47th, just 14 months after nearly losing his leg in a car accident.

And last year he withdrew in the third round due to back pain.

The 35-year-old reportedly took advantage of tomorrow’s public holiday in the Emerald Isle by fighting on Sunday night.

However, as the boxing match could not be viewed or streamed, fans were left guessing as to the outcome.

As it turned out, the Brixton native wasted very little time in dispatching his opponent, winning via TKO in the third round.

There were reports that the Romanian injured his shoulder and had to retire.

However, fans weren’t having the faintest idea of what was happening.

And some went to X to express their frustration at not being able to see the fight, or some just not even knowing it was happening.

A fan asked: “Is he fighting?”

A second posted: “Wild it’s 2024 and this wasn’t even televised.”

A third said: “What kind of devious event was this? Don’t look over…”

A fourth added: “Forgot everything about Whyte.”

While a fifth wrote: “Whyte should have challenged for world titles, not against a Romanian traveling companion in an Irish pub.”

Last time, Whyte defeated Jermaine Franklin by majority decision.

But last August he was banned after a positive drug test ahead of his proposed fight against Anthony Joshua.

However, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation reversed the ban after determining that the positive test was caused by a contaminated supplement.

Kylie Minogue stated during an interview with Kylie Minogue that she refused to slow down amid her current ‘wave’ of comeback success Billboard.

The 55-year-old singer is back on the global music scene after the breakthrough hit Padam Padam from her sixteenth studio album Tension.

The performer — who recently duetted with Madonna — told the outlet that while she was happy with the warm reception to her new projects, she didn’t want to be in a position where there would be “no hope” for her career.

Minogue stated that while she was creatively inspired, she was also “at a point in my life where I know it’s not forever.”

‘I just want to maximize this brilliant wave. If you’re not paddling when the wave comes, you have no hope,” she added.

The artist won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Dance Recording last month, and her Las Vegas residency, titled More Than Just a Residency, has become a favorite among visitors to Sin City.

Minogue, who described her recent success in the United States as “a great victory for longevity,” then noted how American listeners had lost and gained interest in her over the years.

“I’ve had this kind of back-and-forth with America. “I was the ‘Loco-Motion’ girl for a long time, then I was the ‘la-la-la’ girl, and I think I’m ‘Padam’ now,” she noted.

She then added that with the advent of “streaming, the algorithms will lead you to discover more of my music.”

The Can’t Get You Outta My Head singer then told Billboard that she taught herself several production tools during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The performer admitted that she found the experience of taking control in the studio particularly ‘liberating’.

She said: ‘I’ve had a lot of awkward moments [in the studio]. No one would have known because I pretended to go through it. But to have my own microphone and do it on my own time? It is awesome. I could go on for hours.”

Minogue went on to say that she had ‘matured’ both as an individual and as an artist, which she described as ‘so pleasant’.

The hitmaker also noted that her creative process “became more vacuum-tight” the more time she spent in the studio.

The Love At First Sight singer then stated that she had learned to love her singing voice after years of doubting her abilities.

‘To accept that I don’t have a big voice, but to be proud that I have my voice, and to really own it? That took a long time,” she says.

Minogue added: “But I can adapt and have many voices, just like my own [visual] presentation I am chameleon-like. That’s who I am.’

Of those nearly 5,000, only THIRTY-NINE were considered curve or plus-size.

From Chloe to Victoria Beckham and Yves Saint Laurent, designers unleashed hordes of heroin-chic skinny models onto the catwalk, in a cavalcade of pronounced thigh gaps and razor-sharp collarbones.

It felt like the nineties all over again.

As a model who became famous at the time, I was right in the middle of it.

Between leading a high-profile Wonderbra campaign for Gossard and walking the runway for Vivienne Westwood and Ralph Lauren, I saw firsthand how damaging the size-zero obsession was.

This was the decade of cigarettes and addiction.

Size 12 was plus size, and girls quietly fell into anorexia and bulimia while officers turned a blind eye – until it became a problem.

Jodie Kidd recently spoke about models of our time who go to great lengths to stay thin, from eating cotton balls to taking speed.

It was a surprise to me – I’ve never seen this before, but girls were encouraged to be a size zero.

I was only 16 when I walked the catwalks of Paris for the first time, with my adrenaline pumping.

It was great fun, but really it’s no wonder these girls look exhausted; there was barely time to eat, not that you would even want to.

While I survived on a diet of coffee and cigarettes, I viewed food as ‘bad’, and there was no information telling me otherwise.

Love Island host Maya Jama looks stunning in a black mini dress at Paris Fashion Week

Size six, with 34 inch hips, I would never fit into the heroin-chic category and of course I was aware and hypercritical of my body.

I can still vividly remember the hundreds of eyes that followed me down the catwalk, and to this day I can’t weigh myself, I can’t bear it.

I remember having a measuring tape wrapped around my waist and male officers telling me they had to lose weight to stay the same size I was advertised as.

Today that would be seen as abuse, but at the time it was part of the job.

If your chart said you were a size zero, you had to measure size zero.

It may sound cruel, but that’s what we signed up for.

In 2009, I changed my priorities and my entire lifestyle. I focused on nutrition, health and fitness and found a good balance.

I’m now 46 and although I’m still a size six, I’m mentally and physically healthier and have never been happier with the way I feel about myself.

Meanwhile, the fashion industry seemed to be on its own journey towards embracing body positivity.

In recent years, runaways have become noticeably more diverse, with plus-size models like Paloma Elsesser and Ashley Graham fronting Vogue, and Valentino being praised a few years ago for sending size 10 and 12 British models down the catwalk.

We’d come so far in learning to love our bodies, but now it seems like all that progress could be undone.

I have three stepdaughters and would be devastated if they looked at those photos from Paris Fashion Week and thought they should look like that too.

I constantly ask them not to see women on social media and runway shows as the norm.

So many children today have body dysmorphia because people edit their own bodies into shapes that are impossible to achieve.

Stars like the Kardashians have suddenly lost their curves, while social media has been awash with thigh gaps and protruding hipbones in low-rise jeans.

TikTok may have banned the hashtag #thinspo, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t content under another name.

So how can we stop the full return of size zero?

In addition to attracting more plus-size models, the industry also needs to pay attention to models’ extreme schedules and how they can manage their health.

I’d like to think that agencies these days don’t knowingly cast models with eating disorders, and that they would offer encouragement to seek support from medical professionals and nutritionists.

These girls are not livestock, they are human beings, and they have a duty of care to give them the support and education they need about their bodies.

Take it from someone who’s been through it: a return to the thinness of the ’90s would be a disaster for both the fashion industry and girls across the country.

Today, diversity should be a given on the catwalk, not a novelty.

It’s time to turn the clock back to 2024 and celebrate every body, not just one.

The game was already won when the puck slid to Cody Hodgson for the tap-in.

The Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League, the Nashville Predators’ top minor league affiliate, had a comfortable 3-0 lead over the Chicago Wolves. On a historic win streak — they were en route to their 18th consecutive victory — the Admirals juggled their lines.

Off of a rush chance in the final minute, Predators prospect Juuso Pärssinen pulled off a slick toe-drag deke and waited patiently for a lane to open up. Then he feathered a perfect pass to Hodgson for the goal.

As the Wolves goaltender broke his stick against the post, Hodgson’s Admirals teammates mobbed him. Captain Kevin Gravel went to the net front to retrieve the puck. Netminder Yaroslav Askarov skated nearly the length of the ice to celebrate with his teammates.

And as the seemingly over-the-top celebration for a 4-0 goal unfolded, Hodgson didn’t think about the 2,920 days that had elapsed since he last scored a goal in a professional hockey game.

Hodgson didn’t think about the mysterious illness that caused him to walk away from the game. Or the tests for lung cancer, brain cancer and liver cancer that he’d endured in a fruitless quest to figure out what was making him sick.

He wasn’t thinking about the months of on-ice work and yoga and a grueling weight-loss regimen that led him to this point.

He wasn’t even feeling the blunt soreness of the broken rib he had sustained in his first professional game after his long layoff.

All he was thinking about was the gimme pass he’d just received.

“If I hadn’t scored on that one,” Hodgson joked, “I might’ve had to shut it down.”

Back in the locker room, Gravel gave the puck to Admirals equipment trainers and an informal debate broke out about what to write on the tape that’s commonly used to wrap milestone pucks in hockey.

“That was the joke in the room when we gave him the puck. ‘What do we call this?’ I suggested ‘Second First Pro Goal,’ but we were laughing about it after the game,” Gravel said.

“First goal in a very, very long time,” was another suggestion, but it was too many words.

So Hodgson posed with an unwrapped game puck.

If the milestone was undefined, it was still significant.

As a younger man, Hodgson had been one of the NHL’s brightest young stars. He was a top-10 draft pick of the Vancouver Canucks and set scoring records on a line with Toronto Maple Leafs superstar John Tavares at the World Junior Hockey Championship. For a time, he was one of the highest-rated prospects in the sport.

His professional career, however, was set back by injuries early, including a bulging disc in his back that he sustained during the season he turned 20. He was eventually productive in Vancouver, but struggled to cement himself in the lineup. At the 2013 NHL trade deadline, Hodgson was dealt to the Buffalo Sabres in a surprising trade. In Buffalo, Hodgson quickly became one of Buffalo’s most productive forwards, leading the club in scoring in the 2013-14 campaign, after which he signed a six-year, $25 million contract.

Suddenly, however, Hodgson’s career derailed. Following up on the 20-goal, 44-point season that secured Hodgson that big extension, he managed just 13 points the next year. He was becoming conscious of repetitive muscle strain and shortness of breath. He was fighting for his career, and battling through an illness that appeared to be worsening.

Bought out by the Sabres, Hodgson caught on with the Predators. And his symptoms worsened.

“It’s a scary feeling waking up in the middle of the night and your lungs aren’t working and you can’t breathe in,” Hodgson said. “Your body is shaking, you get super hot, you can’t stand up without passing out. I was on about five different medications for blood pressure, and muscle relaxants, everything you can name.

“I knew there was no way I could possibly play.”

In addition to the extreme susceptibility to temperature and struggles breathing, Hodgson was dealing with repeated muscle strains.

“I couldn’t shoot, my mechanics weren’t the same, my skating was stiff,” he said. “I couldn’t turn, I’d torn all these muscles in my neck, and below my shoulders, and throughout my whole body, and for no reason. The muscles were just tearing.”

“He was skating with me in the summer, but he would be really sick,” said Brad Wheeler, Hodgson’s longtime trainer and coach. “He’d say stuff like, ‘I can’t hold a hockey stick,’ or ‘I can’t skate,’ or ‘I feel like I’m going to die.’”

By December of his sixth professional season, Hodgson was out of the NHL. By January he was out of professional hockey entirely.

Hodgson, with the Predators’ support at the time, furiously searched for the cause of his muscle issues, shortness of breath and liver problems. In the process, he was tested for brain cancer, lung cancer and liver cancer.

Eventually, Hodgson decided to get tested for malignant hyperthermia, a genetic disorder that various members of Hodgson’s family had contended with in the past — although not to this extent.

For most patients, malignant hyperthermia presents as an adverse reaction to general anesthetia. About 50 percent of those afflicted, however, including Hodgson, are also susceptible to exertion-induced reactions.

These reactions can be extreme, as they were in Hodgson’s case. The symptoms that presented sabotaged his ability to play professional hockey. At the time he was dealing with rhabdomyolysis, a type of muscle breakdown in which damaged tissue releases proteins and electrolytes into the blood that attack various organs.

“There was always an understanding among our family that if I had a car accident or got hurt on the ice, and couldn’t speak for myself, that I’d already let people around me know that I couldn’t use general anesthesia,” Hodgson said. “Trainers all knew, my teams all knew, my circle knew I had this thing that would matter if I had to go in for surgery, but we never put it all together.”

Once the source of Hodgson’s illness was identified, it was clear that he would have to retire.

It was a tough blow, but also a relief, given that many doctors who initially treated him suspected the source of his ailments might be terminal.

“Knowing I couldn’t play hockey sucked, but in the grand scheme of things, I knew that people deal with way worse,” Hodgson said.

For eight years, Hodgson was mostly away from the game. He was able to live a normal life, closely monitoring his exercise levels while working with the Predators organization in their Learn to Play program and building a career in real estate. He got involved in the RYR-1 Foundation to try and use his story to educate folks about his disease.

Publicly, Hodgson would occasionally give interviews and describe himself as lucky and at peace.

For those who knew him best, however, the way it had all ended was still a source of real pain. That desire to compete, to still play hockey, wasn’t extinguished.

“When he got the test and they found out what it was, that killed him,” said Wheeler. “That’s all he ever wanted to do: play hockey.

“He’s been sad for eight years. … He’d go to the park on a Saturday night and just shoot pucks at the local rink, just pushing the local guys. He’s just so passionate about it”

Occasionally, Hodgson would play. With some close monitoring of his creatine kinase (CK) levels, he was able to work out and attend an on-ice session once a week, often with Wheeler and his NHL clients — a group that, in the summer, includes NHL-level players such as Dylan and Ryan Strome and Mark Giordano.

Hodgson would push it on occasion. In at least one of those instances, his symptoms returned so harshly that he was hospitalized.

Then last summer, something flipped.

In May, Hodgson moved back to Ontario. His brother had just had a child and his sister was pregnant.

Going home to Canada, however, brought him close to the game he loved.

“It sounds kind of crazy, but everything kind of switched this summer,” Hodgson said. “My body started being able to respond to physical activity. I was going out with buddies and playing some hockey and I noticed that I could keep pushing it. Normally, when I skate, even in the summers just for fun, my body would have some of the symptoms I’d have when I was playing.

“Suddenly I realized I could respond a lot better. I didn’t need to shut it down right away, the same way I used to.”

Hodgson consulted with his doctors, including the University of Toronto’s Dr. Sheila Riazi, a leading academic anesthesiologist who has focused her research efforts on understanding malignant hyperthermia.

In consultation with his physician, Hodgson got the green light to monitor his symptoms and health while ramping up his exercise levels.

Through caution and some trial and error, an appropriate method of managing his illness was found, although he’s still under the close observation of his physician and gets his CK levels tested weekly.

“I got a little excited,” Hodgson said. “I’m always cautious, but I always told myself that if I had the ability to play I’d at least try.”

Hodgson started skating more regularly, first one session a week. Then two or three. And then three or four.

He put the call out to old teammates and pro-level players asking for an invite to their summer scrimmages. He’d join alumni games hosted by former NHL superstars like Eric Lindros, just looking for reps.

By early August, Hodgson was beginning to think about a comeback. And that’s when he enlisted the help of Wheeler.

“What is it going to take, Wheels?” he asked.

Wheeler told him, “You can do it if you want to.”

Hodgson called Wheeler “a driving force” in his training.

The first thing he insisted Hodgson do? Drop 40 pounds.

“In this business everything is first impressions,” Wheeler said.

Hodgson traveled to Florida for a noninvasive procedure called a disc seal to strengthen his back, an injury that had troubled him on occasion in his playing career. And then he went about shedding 40 pounds in two months, going from about 235 to under 200.

“Once I had a goal, a bigger purpose, it seemed to melt off,” Hodgson said. “I changed a lot of my eating habits, sleep patterns to give me more energy.”

Despite his sensitivity to severe temperature changes, Hodgson found a way to integrate cold tub recovery into his regimen. He got deeply into yoga, Wim Hof breathing exercises and various stretches to target his muscles. And in the early fall, he headed back to Ontario to work with Wheeler.

“Before, the harder I worked, the more my body broke down,” Hodgson said. “Now it’s completely flipped. Now the more I work the better I get, the more confident I get.”

Despite some early trepidation from his family, they “got on the bandwagon.” And Wheeler, familiar with the work rate of NHL players given his star-studded roster of clients, put Hodgson through the ringer.

“If he isn’t sick and hurting after those skates, he’ll never be sick and hurting,” Wheeler said. “I pushed him so hard that anybody else might quit hockey. And his body didn’t hurt. He didn’t feel bad. His muscles were good.”

By December, Hodgson was ready to get into game situations. The feeling was that there wasn’t much he could do to improve any further by simply training. He had to find a team.

Hodgson asked former NHL head coach Terry Crisp how to structure a professional tryout, how to manage his expectations, how to target getting back in the game.

He offered to pay his own way to practice with a minor league team in an effort to earn a professional tryout. His contacts put the word out, and Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported about Hodgson’s attempted comeback on “Hockey Night in Canada.”

Hodgson was overwhelmed by the response. He began hearing from old friends, former general managers and experienced hockey people offering advice. And eventually the call came in from a Predators organization that Hodgson knew well, offering him a spot on a tryout deal with the Admirals.

“(Admirals general manager) Scott Nichol, when I called him, I think he was a little bit skeptical to get that call at midseason,” Hodgson said. “I told him that I’d been training for a while and I’d love to get a chance, even if it’s just to come practice with them, then if they thought I could help the team they could sign me to a PTO.

“For him to take a chance like that and then push to put me on this team, it’s something I want to reward their faith in for sure.”

Hodgson showed up, 33 years old, eight years removed from his most recent professional game, with off-the-shelf gear and 10-year-old skates, and earned a spot. The club signed him to a professional tryout and had him take warmups before he actually made his AHL re-debut.

With his brother and brother-in-law in attendance, Hodgson stepped onto a professional ice sheet. And in the very first period of his very first game back, Hodgson broke a rib and bruised a lung.

“He told me he feels like he’s 17,” said Hodgson’s longtime trainer, Brad Wheeler, of his return to professional hockey. (Courtesy Milwaukee Admirals)

“Yeah, I was hoping it would go a bit smoother,” Hodgson said with a laugh.

“I played the rest of that game,” Hodgson said. “I moved some equipment around and then I played the next one. By the third game, I was having trouble breathing. So at first I thought, I just got back and I probably triggered this thing, but my CK levels were low, we tested everything. It was fine. … It was just a broken rib.”

Hodgson was concerned he would get cut.

The Admirals, however, were impressed by his toughness. Hodgson was just the kind of veteran they wanted to complement their young players.

Once he was cleared to return, however, the Admirals were on a double digit win streak. When The Athletic caught up with Hodgson in Winnipeg in mid-February, he was a healthy scratch.

“Our team is playing great, everyone is performing, so I understand it,” he said. “But when I get my chance again, I’ll be ready.”

Hodgson’s chance arrived five days later, the game in the Chicago suburbs when he scored his first professional goal in eight years. Two days later, he was in the lineup again and scored again — this time off the rush, a goal that showed real speed and skill.

“I don’t know how he’s doing it,” said Gravel of his teammate’s form after so many years away. “But we’re lucky to have him and he’s helped us out a ton.”

The next day, in the second leg of a back-to-back, Hodgson dressed again and scored again, extending his goal-scoring streak to three games. The game after that, he scored twice.

“He told me he feels like he’s 17,” Wheeler said. “He feels better and faster than ever. And every game I watch, he’s getting better every shift.”

And he’s back to doing what he loves.

“It’s just nice to be back in the rhythm of things,” Hodgson said. “You feel good when you’re scoring, but I want to keep going. A four-game scoring streak is great, but I want to keep pushing the envelope.”

IN June 2023, players were left extremely disappointed after it was announced that one of the best free games would be taking a break.

Originally released in 2022, thousands of players have enjoyed the game and even spent money on in-game characters and cosmetics.

Despite this, MultiVersus was dropped after the eleven-month open beta, meaning that all in-game content became virtually worthless until the game returned.

MultiVersus’s servers were shut down in June 2023 and the game was pulled from stores, allowing only players who had previously downloaded the game to continue playing offline matches.

Because offline play was retained, these players were not entitled to a refund for the in-game items they purchased during the open beta.

The announcement statement claimed that the break was intended to add to “the content cadence of new characters, maps and modes to give you more ways to enjoy the game, along with updated netcode and more matchmaking improvements.

“We will also be reworking the progression system based on your feedback and looking at new ways for you to connect with your friends in the game.”

The team claimed that the platform fighter would return in 2024 and that people’s in-game purchases with the game would return.

Finally, a release date has been announced for the return of MultiVersus, and people can return to MultiVersus at May 28, 2024.

The team announced some of the content and changes made during the hiatus.

MultiVersus has been completely rebuilt in the Unreal Engine 5, which probably gives it better performance and graphics.

It also adds a new PvE mode and more ways to earn rewards.

People were already enjoying MultiVersus before the break, so many are happy to get back into the game.

MultiVersus will be available on PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

To prepare for the game’s return, check out all the characters in MultiVersus.

From Rihanna’s papal-inspired Met Gala look to Kate Moss’ wedding dress, some of the most famous moments of 21st Century fashion have come from the brilliant mind of John Galliano.

Born in Gibraltar to an Italian father and Spanish mother, and raised in south London, his quirky aesthetic has been synonymous with British fashion.

But while he’s lead a very glamorous life, rubbing shoulders with A-listers and supermodels on the red carpet, Galliano has also struggled with addiction, alcoholism and substance abuse.

Now, a new documentary is set to explore the designer’s life, scandals and triumphant return to Paris Couture Fashion Week, after being dropped in 2011 for hurling anti-Semitic insults at a group of Jewish women in a Paris bar.

Directed by Oscar-winning Kevin Macdonald, High & Low: John Galliano, will show the peaks and troughs of the 63-year-old’s high-flying career.

Now 10-years sober, he sat down with Macdonald to discuss his rise, fall and return – from the pits of Paris Fashion Week to one of the most sought-after names in the industry.

Raised the child of a plumber, in south London, Galliano says he was inspired by his Spanish mother, who dressed him and his sisters in immaculately pressed and starched clothes whenever they left the family home.

At the age of 16, he left school to study textile design at East London College, before enrolling at the prestigious St Martin’s School of Art in 1980.

He worked as a dresser at the National Theatre and threw himself into the London club scene – experiences that undoubtedly imprinted his design aesthetic.

After starting an eponymous line in the 1980s, Galliano was appointed as the designer of Givenchy in 1996.

He soon transitioned to Dior, before being spectacularly fired after he was filmed expressing admiration for Hitler and telling a woman, who he thought was Jewish, that her parents should have been gassed.

Heavily intoxicated, he then allegedly ranted to an Asian man sitting with her: ‘****ing Asian b******’.

During his one-day trial in June 2011, Galliano admitted two instances of making anti-Semitic and racist comments and, that September, was given two suspended fines, totalling 6,000 euros.

In honour of Dior’s memory, Galliano designed 47 breathtaking costumes, each evoking the spirit of the couturier’s favourite artists, for the brands  60th anniversary

Galliano’s lawyer cited his struggles with drugs, alcohol and work, noting that he was designing up to 32 collections each year.

Additionally, he was ordered to pay three plaintiffs and five antidiscrimination groups 1 euro each in damages and a combined 16,500 euros in costs.

Face of Dior, Natalie Portman, was among those outraged by his outburst more than two decades ago.

At the time, the Oscar-winning actress said: ‘In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr Galliano in any way.

‘I hope at the very least these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.’

Galliano consistently maintained that he is not anti-Semitic or racist but acknowledged struggling with addiction to alcohol, Valium and sleeping tablets, leading him to seek rehabilitation.

It seems that this was the tip of the iceberg for Galliano, who had a string of drunken indiscretions to his name.

Years earlier, coming off the high of another Fashion Week, Galliano stripped naked and spent four hours in a lift at The Ritz, telling guests who tried to enter that he was a lion, while growling at them.

Inside John Galliano’s career

As a student of St Martin’s College of Art (now Central Saint Martins), Galliano garnered attention for his degree collection, heavily influenced by revolutionary France.

His graduate collection, Les Incroyables, was immediately purchased by the fashion boutique Browns and displayed in its South Molton Street windows the following day.

Galliano founded his eponymous label with long-term collaborators Amanda Harlech, then a stylist with Harpers and Queen, and milliner Stephen Jones.

The St Martin’s School of Art graduate won four British Fashion Designer of the Year awards and was celebrated for his unconventional work, which frequently challenged the industry.

Initially, financial support was provided by Johan Brun. When this arrangement concluded, Danish entrepreneur Ole Peder Bertelsen, owner of the company Aguecheek, which was also supporting Katharine Hamnett, took over control.

However, this agreement ended in 1988, influencing Galliano’s decision to relocate to Paris the following year in search of financial backing.

The designer secured the backing of Faycal Amor, owner of fashion brand Plein Sud, who invited him to set up his base in Paris.

Galliano’s first show was presented in 1989 as part of Paris Fashion Week. But the financial agreement with Amor was short-lived and ended in 1993, resulting in the designer’s absence from that season.

With the help of American Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and André Leon Talley, then European correspondent at Vanity Fair, Galliano was introduced to Portuguese socialite and fashion patron São Schlumberger, as well as financial backers of venture firm Arbela Inc, John Bult and Mark Rice.

‘Of course, I’d heard of him. But it really wasn’t until Andre and I started to help him with his shows in Paris that he and I became… friends,’ Wintour explains in High & Low.

‘It isn’t often you meet a great designer. If you think of the Brit designers that have really changed the way women dress, or look, or how we think about fashion… but immediately when you saw what John was doing, you realised that he was one of them, so we had to help him.’

This partnership provided Galliano with the financial backing and social endorsement necessary for establishing credibility in Paris.

His next collection – in which Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss modelled for free – played a pivotal role in the development of Galliano as a fashion house, and is regarded as a ‘fashion moment’ in high fashion circles.

In 1995, Galliano was named the designer of Givenchy by Bernard Arnault, owner of luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, marking the first time an Englishman took the helm of one of France’s luxury houses.

While the news sent shockwaves through the fashion world, it did not seem to affect the supremely confident designer.

His long-time collaborator, Amanda Harlech, once described him by saying: ‘I did only once and I can only compare it to being hit by a massive surfing wave. His indifference was absolute.’

Galliano showcased his first couture show for Givenchy at the Stade de France, receiving widespread acclaim from the media. Additionally, a number of designs were licenced to Vogue Patterns.

In 1996, he made the transition to Dior under LVMH, with Alexander McQueen stepping into the role at Givenchy.

‘Something evoked in me, I felt like Rocky,’ Galliano enthuses in the documentary. ‘I thought I’m really going to go for this.’

Galliano’s assurance won him a roster of celebrity supporters, including actresses Charlize Theron and Marion Cotillard, who frequently donned his designs.

One of his first dresses for Dior was worn by Diana, Princess of Wales at the fashion house’s 50th anniversary party in New York.

The dress, described by critics as an ‘unsupported petticoat’, caused a stir and made the front pages of several newspapers.

In 2001, Galliano was made a Commander of the British Empire for his services to the fashion industry, and received his award from the Queen at Buckingham Palace that November.

For the investiture, Galliano – with long blond hair and pencil-thin moustache – wore a traditional morning suit, eschewing a shirt.

‘I was surprised when I was awarded a CBE,’ he said. ‘It’s one of the greatest honours I’ve ever had – I’m very proud.’

Another notable career moment was creating a showgirl costume for Kylie Minogue to don during the Showgirl, The Greatest Hits Tour in Europe, 2005.

Additionally, Galliano designed Kate Moss’ dress for her wedding to Jamie Hince in 2011, as per the mode’s request during his tenure at Dior.

Recalling the big day, the designer says: ‘Before she came out, she held my hand, she was shaking and said, “Who am I?” I said, “You’re fabulous and he’s about to discover your want past”. And the rest was just Kate.’

The dress featured an understated silhouette with a figure-hugging fit and intricate golden paillette embroidery, reflecting the delicate couture touch synonymous with the designer’s work at Dior.

The hotel called his office in Paris, who offered to cover the bills of any guests who had become inconvenienced.

Now admitting his demons, Galliano begins the documentary by saying: ‘I’m going to tell you everything’ – from dealing with his devout Catholic parents’ horrified reaction to his homosexuality to his abuse of Valium, bromides, amphetamines and sleeping pills.

‘I was committing suicide, slowly,’ he says.

He also revealed struggles with his workload and depression following the deaths of his father and close friends Steven Robinson and Alexander McQueen.

Despite his explanations, the fallout from Galliano’s rant resulted in the termination of his 15-year tenure as creative director at Dior – where he was earning £4 million-a-year.

The designer was exiled from fashion – yet only temporarily – and he designed Kate Moss’ wedding dress the same year, calling the project his ‘creative rehab’.

In an interview with WWD, Kevin Macdonald recalled being in New York when videos of Galliano’s anti-Semantic outburst emerged online.

‘I was kind of repulsed by him and the way he looked,’ the film director said.

‘I have lost family in the Holocaust and my grandfather’s family all died.

‘That’s a part of why I felt a personal repulsion, but at the same time, I’m always interested in films about ambiguous characters who you’re not quite sure what to think of them.’

A number of John Galliano’s friends and former employees share their thoughts on-screen, including Anna Wintour, Naomi Campbell, Charlize Theron, Amanda Harlech and Kate Moss.

‘We’re both shy and a bit awkward, ’til we’ve had a drink,’ Moss says, chuckling.

The supermodel starred in Galliano’s first show in Paris, admitting ‘I was so nervous’.

She goes on to explain that Galliano, now a good friend, taught her how to walk down the catwalk: ‘He said put your hips and your pelvis forwards… and lean back.

‘No one gives you direction like John, there was always a story in every show. It’s fantasy, and that’s what fashion should be.’

‘He’d say, “You’re a princess and you’ve just escaped the castle… and the walls are after you. You’ve got to run Kate, run!”‘

Edward Enninful, former editor-in-chief of British Vogue, adds: ‘For other designers, they were just models. But with John, they became actresses.

‘He would take them on a journey, through countries, through time. And they would come up feeling so enthused, so excited.’

There is also an appearance from Philippe Virgitti, the target of the designer’s anti-Semitic comments.

During the 2011 court hearing in Paris, Virgitti stated: ‘I don’t think he’s racist or anti-Semitic. I just think he’s very ill.’

However, in the documentary, he explains how Galliano’s verbal attack has negatively impacted his life – and does not forgive him.

Galliano insists that he apologised to Virgitti, but Virgitti denies this.

‘There is no real explanation for the designer’s behaviour. His psychiatrist believes he looked, at random, for a hateful stereotype in our culture,’ he says.

Meanwhile, Sidney Toledano, the Jewish boss of Dior, suggests that anti-Semitism could have been weaved into his Catholic upbringing.

The film also shows a clip of the designer the day after his father’s funeral in 2003, where Galliano’s voice appears slurred, and his pupils gigantic, as he prepares for his next fashion show.

Following a two-month stay at Cottonwood Rehab Clinic in Arizona, Galliano briefly joined Oscar de la Renta in New York.

The move was reportedly arranged by Anna Wintour, American Vogue editor-in-chief, and Jonathan Newhouse, chairman of Conde Nast International.

Mr Newhouse is also said to have put Galliano in contact with Rabbi Barry Marcus, who, at the time, was the senior minister of Central Synagogue in London.

Rabbi Marcus educated the designer in antisemitism, introduced him to a Holocaust survivor and invited him to services at his synagogue.

‘Over time, we built up a relationship and I’m absolutely satisfied that to brand him as an antisemite would be an injustice,’ the rabbi explained.

‘His knowledge of Jews and Judaism was actually very limited.’

In 2014, John Galliano was appointed creative director of Belgian brand Maison Margiela, which described him as one of the ‘greatest undisputed talents of all time’.

‘Margiela is ready for a new charismatic creative soul,’ said Renzo Rosso, president of the label’s parent company OTB, in a statement.

‘John Galliano is one of the greatest, undisputed talents of all time. A unique, exceptional couturier for a Maison that always challenged and innovated the world of fashion.

‘I look forward to his return to create that fashion dream that only he can create, and wish him to here find his new home.’

Galliano, who oversees the design of all Margiela lines, including couture and women’s ready-to-wear, presented his first collection for the house during Paris Couture Week in January 2015.

Marking the first time Rihanna wore Margiela to the Met Gala, Galliano created the singer’s iconic Pope-inspired ensemble for the 2018 event, following the theme, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.

The extraordinary look, featuring a heavily beaded robe, matching mitre and mini dress, referenced Galliano’s Dior Couture 2001 collection, which was inspired by papal regalia.

The release of High & Low coincides with a catwalk comeback as Galliano made a triumphant return to Paris Couture Fashion Week with Maison Margiela’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection.

Galliano transformed the left bank underbelly of the Pont Alexandre III in Paris into a 1920s dive bar, illuminated by a subdued glow from spotlights

In January, Galliano transformed the left bank underbelly of Paris’ Pont Alexandre III bridge into a 1920s dive bar, illuminated by a subdued glow from spotlights.

The Artisan collection, which showcased unique fabric techniques and porcelain-effect make-up, earned the designer a thunderous, five-minute standing ovation.

Now a decade sober, Galliano, who was once recognised for strutting down the catwalk at the end of a show, has adopted a low-profile approach and no longer makes an appearance.

Galliano told Macdonald that he wasn’t expecting to be forgiven following the documentary, but instead to be ‘a little more understood’.

The collection received worldwide critical acclaim, with Anna Wintour telling The Times ‘the Maison Margiela couture show captured so many people’s imaginations’ and ‘it was a reminder that when John’s work soars, it lifts fashion higher.’

Australian Jack Della Maddalena has risen into the top five of the welterweight division with an impressive victory over former title contender Gilbert Burns.

The Next Big Thing of Australian combat sports, 27-year-old Della Maddalena picked up the biggest win of his career on Sunday at UFC 299 in Florida.

It was a hard-fought fight until Della Maddalena blasted his Brazilian opponent with a knee to block a takedown attempt during the third round.

The knee hit Burns flush and wobbled him, with the West Aussie jumping on top to end the fight with elbows and punches.

“Jack Della Maddalena is definitely on his way to the championship and stuns the masses of Miami,” John Anik said on commentary.

The West Aussie star has rocketed towards title glory with another huge victory

Joe Rogan said on commentary: “Wow, what a huge Jack Della Maddalena moment.

“It feels good,” Della Maddalena said afterwards.

“My plan was to come here, take the money and run. I knew I had hurt him. He is the man. There are some scary people in this division, but I’m the scariest king.

Della Maddalena called up undefeated welterweight boogeyman Shavkat Rakhmonov after the fight, hoping they could get into a title eliminator with the winner facing champion Leon Edwards.

“Shavkat Rakhmonov,” Della Maddalena shouted.

“I think you and I would make a great title eliminator.”

Della Maddalena said during the week he heard whispers that a Perth card would be announced in August or September and he would like to appear in it.

“I feel that if I beat Rakhmonov, no one can deny me a shot at that title,” he told News Corp.

“That would be prospect versus prospect, with the winner getting a title shot.”

The Australian indicated he would also like to fight Colby Convington or Ian Garry, two of the biggest names in the division.

“Look, it would be a dream to fight Colby Covington,” he said.

‘But what happens? I don’t think so, no.

“I think Colby is going to fight someone else, put in a terrible performance and then he’ll be gone.”

Air has announced a reunion tour.

The million-selling electronic duo consists of Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel and the duo first came together in 1995, but did not release their debut album until 1998.

They became known for hits like Sexy Boy and All I Need, but the French music stars haven’t released anything new in ten years.

But to celebrate the milestone of their first album Moon Safari, the pair will perform the record in its entirety on a series of dates across the US.

The tour kicks off on September 19 in the Canadian city of Vancouver before heading to other major cities such as Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

The Playground Lover singers will continue their jaunt in Minneapolis, Chicago and Detroit before wrapping up in Austin, Texas on October 30.

A special anniversary edition of Moon Safari will be released on March 15, containing previously unreleased demos, live sessions and more exclusive material.

Upon its initial release, Moon Safari sold over two million copies and a string of five albums.

They also composed the soundtracks for The Virgin Suicides in 1990 and Music for Museum in 2014.

Outside of the band, both members have recorded solo material, but the upcoming tour will mark the very first time both members have come together to perform the entire debut album live.

Nicolas recently teased that the record is made up of an “incredible number of small elements” and that he never believed such a tour would ever happen.

He told Crown: ‘We always thought that we would not be able to perform this album live in a dignified way.

‘It is very delicate and consists of an incredible number of small elements and many details that can quickly be lost on stage and take the charm out of the songs.

‘We had guest singers and different arrangements and didn’t know what to do with them live.’

‘We also promoted the album extremely heavily and got a little tired.

‘It just wasn’t the kind of music we liked anymore and we consciously went in a completely different direction.

‘But after all these years we rediscovered the magic of the album and wanted to make it happen.

‘I don’t want to compare myself to classical musicians, but we always had the same approach when we composed
