IN June 2023, players were left extremely disappointed after it was announced that one of the best free games would be taking a break.

Originally released in 2022, thousands of players have enjoyed the game and even spent money on in-game characters and cosmetics.

Despite this, MultiVersus was dropped after the eleven-month open beta, meaning that all in-game content became virtually worthless until the game returned.

MultiVersus’s servers were shut down in June 2023 and the game was pulled from stores, allowing only players who had previously downloaded the game to continue playing offline matches.

Because offline play was retained, these players were not entitled to a refund for the in-game items they purchased during the open beta.

The announcement statement claimed that the break was intended to add to “the content cadence of new characters, maps and modes to give you more ways to enjoy the game, along with updated netcode and more matchmaking improvements.

“We will also be reworking the progression system based on your feedback and looking at new ways for you to connect with your friends in the game.”

The team claimed that the platform fighter would return in 2024 and that people’s in-game purchases with the game would return.

Finally, a release date has been announced for the return of MultiVersus, and people can return to MultiVersus at May 28, 2024.

The team announced some of the content and changes made during the hiatus.

MultiVersus has been completely rebuilt in the Unreal Engine 5, which probably gives it better performance and graphics.

It also adds a new PvE mode and more ways to earn rewards.

People were already enjoying MultiVersus before the break, so many are happy to get back into the game.

MultiVersus will be available on PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
