THE Europa League is never short of entertainment and Thursday’s clash between Bayer Leverkusen and Qarabag was no different.

Qarabag defender Elvin Cafarquliyev hilariously tried to high-five the referee after a VAR decision, thinking he had been spared a yellow card, but was shown a red just seconds later.

Cafarquliyev was shown a yellow card by referee Anthony Taylor in the 61st minute after it was judged that he had grabbed the shirt of Leverkusen star Jeremy Frimpong, who was through on goal.

Frimpong fell to the ground as a result and after a lengthy VAR check, Taylor subsequently decided that his Cafarquliyev’s yellow card should have been red.

After making the brave decision, the referee signaled with a wave of his hand that the yellow card would no longer stand, leaving Cafarquliyev to think he had gotten off scot-free.

The Azerbaijani international wanted to celebrate by giving Taylor a high five and raised his hand, after which the strict referee reached into his pocket and waved a red card instead.

Cafarquliyev had used the gun thinking he could get away with the tug on his shirt, but was instead sent to an early shower.

Fans couldn’t believe what they saw and shared their reactions on social media.

One wrote: “Straight to the top of the list for funniest football moments ever. Excellent.”

While another said: “Taylor left him hanging and said please, you’re off!”

A third joked: “I’m on the actual floor.”

And a fourth wrote: “VAR can’t even downgrade the yellows so I’m not sure what he hoped his best case scenario would be there.”

Eight bizarre football rules you may not know

The one-man deficit initially did not seem to hinder Qarabag as just three minutes after elimination they doubled their lead over Leverkusen to 2-0.

But in the end, Xabi Alonso’s side made the most of their lead, pulling a goal back in the 72nd minute and adding two more through Patrik Schick in stoppage time to win the match 3–2.

Leverkusen not only secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League with the victory, but also kept their 37-match unbeaten run alive.

The Germans are top of the Bundesliga after an exceptional season with Alonso at the helm.

And with a ten-point gap over second-placed Bayern Munich, they look to be on course for a first-ever Bundelsiga title.

Celebrity Big Brother fans were left confused during Thursday’s episode when Marisha Wallace and Levi Roots broke down in tears after the nominations took place.

Viewers took to social media to express their frustrations with the celebrities getting emotional over nominating their housemates so soon after meeting.

Levi, 65, was the first to nominate Zeze Millz, calling her out because she said her job is to make people uncomfortable. His second nomination was for David Potts, as he felt they had not connected and claimed the reality star picks and chooses who he speaks to.

But it all became a bit much for Levi, who then asked for a few seconds before leaving the diary room, putting his head in his hands and crying.

Later, Marisha, 38, went inside to nominate and chose Lauren Simon and David before becoming emotional as she walked back into the living room.

“I didn’t know it was going to be this intense,” she told the other housemates, wiping tears from her eyes.

“It’s funny how most of the time I don’t care,” she said, as Zeze put her arm around her shoulder. ‘Why do I care so much, it’s stupid. I feel bad.’

But CBB fans weren’t exactly sympathetic to the housemates’ tears.

“These people are so emotionally unstable and it’s only day 3…” said someone on X, formerly Twitter.

“I laugh when they cry about nominating for three days like they’ve been family for weeks,” said another.

A third wrote: ‘What’s with all the tears over these nominations? As if you’ve known each other for five minutes.’

A longtime fan of the show added that the crying was something they never understood. “Almost 50 series later and I still don’t understand why people cry when they have to nominate… it’s part of the game,” they wrote.

“Not another cryer,” one moaned, while another labeled Marisha’s sobs as “crocodile tears.”

The nominating all became a bit much for Levi, who then asked for a few seconds before leaving the diary room, putting his head in his hands and crying.

The political spotlight will be on Michigan on Tuesday, when voters there cast primaries, and again four days later when Republicans hold an additional election.

The party adopted a new and somewhat confusing hybrid nominating system this year, which will culminate in a statewide nominating convention on March 2.

Or two.

A mutiny in the Republican Party has spawned rival factions, each vowing to hold its own convention even though the national party only recognizes one.

Here’s what you need to know:

Michigan will hold its primaries on February 27, voting for Republicans and Democrats. In addition, the state’s Republican Party will host a nominating convention on March 2.

Polls are open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time (most of the state is in the Eastern time zone). In-person voting began on February 17. Voters can find their polling stations hereand they can register to vote by visiting their city or town clerk until 8 p.m. on Election Day.

All voters can participate in the primaries, regardless of whether they are Democrats, Republicans or independents. But voters cannot choose candidates from more than one party on the same ballot, known as crossover voting.

At the Republican nominating convention, only delegates, a group of elected party loyalists, can participate in the caucus-like event.

There are seven Republicans on the ballot, headlined by former President Donald J. Trump, the Republican Party’s frontrunner, and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations. Most of the others have lost weight.

President Biden and his nominal challenger, Rep. Dean Phillips, will appear on the Democratic primary ballot along with Marianne Williamson, who has withdrawn.

Both parties also have the option to vote for ‘non-committed’. Here’s how to do that look up sample ballots.

Democrats, who control the state government, passed a law last year moved up Michigan’s primary datewhich used to be the second Tuesday in March.

Republicans fought the change because it violates their national party’s rules that usually prohibit states from holding nominating contests before March 1. To prevent the national party from gaining delegates, Republicans in the state have adopted the hybrid nominating system.

The process is fairly simple for Democrats, who will use a proportional system based on primary results for most delegates. Michigan will send 140 delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

The formula for Republicans is more complex: starting with the primaries, only 16 of the 55 delegates will be rewarded, also proportionately. But most of the delegates (39) will be decided during the convention.

Polls show that Mr. Trump and Mr. Biden have big leads in the state, which could speed things up after the polls close on Tuesday.

“If either presidential primary is a blowout, we won’t need many votes to declare the winners,” Stephen Ohlemacher, elections editor for The Associated Press, said in an email.

And while Mr. Trump’s strong position also applies to the convention, there is greater uncertainty about the timing of the results because of how new the process is. There’s also the drama with rival Republican factions possibly hosting dueling conventions.

Both March 2 celebrations begin at 10 a.m. Eastern Time.

Pete Hoekstra, who the RNC considers the rightful chairman of the state party, chose the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids as his convention location.

Across the state, Kristina Karamo, the Trump-style election denier who has refused to give up power after a vote to impeach her earlier this year, continues her rally at Huntington Place in Detroit.

Party loyalists from across Michigan will meet by congressional district and break into 13 separate groups to vote for the president. They were chosen for the role by their provincial parties.

Republicans will award three delegates to each congressional district. A candidate who receives the majority of votes wins all three, otherwise it is two for a majority and one for second place.

The group will also “certify” the results of Tuesday’s primaries and award the remaining 16 delegates accordingly.

All this is set against the backdrop of the party feud in the state.

The process could effectively play out on a split screen during the dueling party meetings, creating competing delegates who could both end up at the national convention this summer. The RNC would then decide which party to recognize, and Mr. Hoekstra’s recognition as leader of the state party indicates that his list would be considered the official list.

Ms. Karamo rose to prominence for spreading conspiracy theories about voter fraud after the 2020 election. In 2022, she lost her bid for Michigan secretary of state, an office that oversees elections. Last year, in February, she emerged victorious in the marathon vote for the chairmanship of the state party.

But Ms. Karamo quickly lost the support of many Republicans, who said the party was shrouded in secrecy and struggling with money under her leadership. They voted to remove her on Jan. 6 and elected Mr. Hoekstra as her replacement two weeks later, actions that Ms. Karamo has argued were illegal.

Mr Hoekstra, a former Member of Parliament, was Mr Trump’s ambassador in the Netherlands. He stepped forward in January to seek the job as party boss and was endorsed by Trump later that month.

The RNC recognized him as chairman on February 14, three days before he attended a rally for Trump in Waterford Township, Michigan.

Viewers were treated to live coverage of Arsenal's painful 1-0 defeat to Porto, with the group also setting their eyes on Barcelona's 1-1 draw with Napoli.

But it was the studio action that really brought the evening to life.

That's because a reel was played with throwback clips of Abdo in her early days as a presenter in 2007.

The healthy host seemed mortified as she looked back at herself.

However, it was Henry's reaction that really made viewers chuckle.

The Gunners legend was left open-mouthed and wide-eyed when he saw a younger Abdo on screen.

Henry appeared in disbelief as Richards and Carragher howled with laughter.

And viewers loved seeing the gang back on the box.

And because pregnancies typically last nine months, people quickly demanded answers from Jessica about how her situation happened.

“I really don't want to sit here and explain to myself why I have a newborn and a six-month-old,” she responded on TikTok.

“But for the good people in the comments who really want to know what happened, I'm going to answer.

'Yes everyone, it's called superfetation.

“A person can become pregnant while pregnant.

“That's what it's called, if you guys didn't know or didn't do your research.”

Superfetation is an extremely rare medical phenomenon in which two children are conceived in the same womb at different times.

This means that embryos will grow in the uterus at the same time, but continuously at different stages of development.

Even though superfetation babies are technically twins, they spend different amounts of time in the womb.

Superfetation is so rare that ten cases have been recorded worldwide, not including Jessica's claims from the US.

Last April, Australian mother of four Sandra Searle gave birth to superfetation twins, leaving doctors scratching their heads.

That would make Jessica the eleventh woman to experience the phenomenon, but people aren't convinced she's telling the truth.

The new mother gave birth to her sons at different times, while superfetation pregnancies occur at the same time.

People have speculated that when Jessica had a C-section, surgeons closed her down for another six months after delivering her eldest.

“There are only ten confirmed cases of superfetation twins and never more than four weeks apart,” said one skeptic on Jessica's TikTok video.

“If this were true, it would be big medical news.”

“With superfetation, the babies are never more than a few days or weeks apart,” challenges a second.

Jessica has refused to answer questions and criticism.

“People are really so curious and this is the only explanation I can give,” she said.

Bumbling Joe Biden said Donald Trump is the “sitting president” as the befuddled 81-year-old stumbled through an economic speech in South Carolina this weekend.

The president sought to shore up support for another term when he ran into the former president Saturday at a dinner celebrating the state and its large base of black voters.

In addition to bashing Trump over his views on the U.S. economy, Biden also said his Republican rival's failure to support the rights of black citizens posed a threat to democracy.

“American consumers have real confidence in the economy we are building. Let me tell you who else notices that: Donald Trump,” Biden said in his speech.

The president then began to fumble his words as he tried to gather his thoughts, saying, “Did you see what he said the other day about, he wants, he wants to see the economy crash this year? A sitting president.”

During a speech in South Carolina last Saturday, President Joe Biden stumbled over his words as he attacked Donald Trump and called him a “sitting president.”

Biden also labeled Trump a

Biden also labeled Trump a “loser” for bringing up his Republican rival's “refusal” to visit a cemetery in France honoring fallen American soldiers.

“And called those heroes, and I quote, 'suckers and losers.' He really said that! How dare he say that!'

“The only loser I see is Donald Trump,” Biden said.

The president added that Trump “knows” that the U.S. economy “is good and strong and getting stronger.”

“He knows that while it's good for America, it's bad for him politically.”

Biden's latest blunder came moments after he stumbled during another speech at a Wisconsin brewery, where he called Trump a “professor” instead of a “pastor” before correcting himself.

During his remarks, the president appeared to be speaking nonsensically when he said, “The beer brewed here. It is used to make the brewed beer. While defining Earth Rider.”

“Thank you for the Great Lakes. I wonder why,” he added.

In addition, a photo published on the Twitter account of Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota showed the president at a bar with union workers.

He had put on a helmet, but was wearing it backwards.

Klobuchar held a beer with workers in yellow vests as Biden, who does not drink, gathered around them and smiled.

Democratic presidential candidate Dean Phillips criticized Biden just hours after he delivered his rambling speech.

Phillips said Biden showed “physical and communication decline” and that the problems are “obvious” as concerns about the president's age loom over his re-election bid.

'I don't see any cognitive decline. Of course we see the physical and communication decline,” Phillips told Fox News later Thursday evening.

“I think that goes without saying with any video,” he added. But he didn't think it was “fair” to suggest Biden was in cognitive decline.

'He's human. But he's an 81-year-old man. He's human. Donald Trump is 77,” the congressman said.

Phillips added that he still has “respect” for Biden, but throughout his presidential campaign he has made it clear that the country does not want either Trump or Biden on the map.

Just before that blunder, Biden had another stunning moment during a speech he gave in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he touted the plan to connect thousands of homes to high-speed internet.

As he spoke, he became momentarily confused as he tried to praise Democratic state Rep. Deborah Ross.

'Where is Deborah? I just took a picture with her. That's probably why she left,” he first joked.

“Oh, actually, she couldn't be here. That is not true. I got it mixed up,” he said uncomfortably. “You know, she fights really hard for the people of this district and she's in Washington right now.”

He went further, explaining the White House's goal to connect “everyone” in America to high-speed internet “just like Franklin Roosevelt did with electricity a generation ago.”

“I promised to be president for all of America, whether you voted for me or not. These investments also help all Americans in red states and blue states. We won't leave anyone behind.'

North Carolina is a state that Biden's campaign is targeting as a possible rebound in the 2024 race.

After his speech was mixed up, Biden stopped for a sweet treat at a Cook Out restaurant, where he ordered a “triple thick” black and white milkshake.

He then took selfies and chatted with restaurant staff, as he was seen in photos standing at the drive-thru while shoveling the milkshake into his mouth.

A new survey showed Trump taking a six-point lead over Biden as the 2024 election heads toward a possible rematch after both men prevailed in the New Hampshire primary.

Trump leads Biden by 40 to 34 percentage points in the new Reuters/Ipsos poll of 1,250 adults.

Overall, 70 percent of respondents said Biden should not run for re-election, while 56 percent said Trump should not run.

  • President Joe Biden appeared confused Friday during a visit to Pennsylvania, where he received a less than warm welcome from troublemakers who labeled him a “loser” and urged him to “go home.”

The 81-year-old appeared bewildered during a visit to a bicycle shop in the Allentown area, one of several small businesses he visited there to tour.

Video showed the president looking momentarily stunned as he was introduced to the store's staff, before appearing to remember and motioning for employees to greet them.

Before entering, he was harassed with chants of “Go home Joe,” the New York Post reports. A few hours later, a rowdy crowd of Pro Palestine supporters along his motorcade route labeled him “genocide Joe.”

The group sang, “We'll remember in November,” referring to the upcoming election.

Biden entered three stores to emphasize the value of small businesses and discuss his economic record.

“My name is Joe Biden and I work for the governor and the senator,” the president said as he joined Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pennsylvania, at the Nowhere Coffee Co. stepped in.

Biden ordered what appeared to be a smoothie. Clearly the onlookers in the coffeehouse knew who he was, and one of them joked, “This is a normal day.”

Elsewhere, his reception was less warm, with reporters demanding to know his true feelings about Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's failure to announce his hospitalization.

Asked if he has confidence in Austin, Biden replied: 'Yes, indeed.' Asked if it was an error of judgment if Austin didn't inform him of his hospitalization, Biden said, “Yes.”

These were his first public comments about his defense minister.

The Pentagon said Friday that Austin remains at Walter Reed Medical Center in 'good condition', that he had and was in contact with senior staff “actively involved” in overseeing and directing U.S. military participation in attacks on Houthi targets.

Biden has previously indicated he will support his defense secretary, but White House officials agreed the situation was a problem.

Austin finally announced on Tuesday that he had prostate cancer, after initially refusing to say what he was suffering from and days of questions about his hospitalization.

The mishandling of the case is now being investigated by the Pentagon.

Austin and Biden spoke this week ahead of the US and British airstrikes on Houthi rebels around Yemen in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden that took place late Thursday evening.

Biden made Friday's trip without delivering prepared remarks ahead of a weekend getaway to the presidential retreat, Camp David in Maryland.

Ruby Freeman, a former election worker in Georgia, sat in a federal courtroom Wednesday and told a jury: “Giuliani just confused me, you know.”

She referred to Rudolph W. Giuliani, who sat a few feet away from her, as she described how her life has been turned upside down since December 3, 2020. That was the date on which Mr. Giuliani, then President Donald J. Trump’s personal attorney, instructed his millions of social media followers to watch a video of two election workers in Fulton County, Georgia, claiming without any basis that they were Mr. Trump cheated while they were counting the votes on Election Day.

The workers were Mrs. Freeman and her daughter, Shaye Moss.

Ms. Freeman, who is black, recounted what followed: a barrage of threats, accusations and racism; messages from people saying she should be hanged or lynched for treason; people who fantasized about hearing the sound of her neck snapping.

They found her at her home. They sent messages to her work email and social media accounts. They called her phone so many times that it crashed, she said.

The harassment became so bad that the FBI told Ms. Freeman that she was not safe in the home where she had lived for years. She was staying with a friend until she felt she was endangering that friend after law enforcement officials told her they had arrested someone who had her name on a death list.

Ms. Freeman’s name had become a rallying cry in the conservative news media, embodying a conspiracy theory that Trump supporters embraced as they tried to keep him in power.

“This all started with one tweet,” Ms. Freeman said on Wednesday, the third day of a trial to determine what compensation she and Ms. Moss deserve from Mr. Giuliani. Judge Beryl A. Howell previously ruled that Mr. Giuliani spread lies about them, deliberately inflicted emotional distress on them and conspired with others as he led efforts to keep Mr. Trump in power.

Ashley Humphreysa professor at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism who testified as an expert witness for the plaintiffs told the jury that the price tag for repairing the damage to their reputation would be between $17.4 million and $47.4 million lie.

Mr. Giuliani’s lawyer, Joseph Sibley IV, has said the amount of damages would be the civil equivalent of the death penalty — a description by Judge Howell called ‘hyperbolic’.

Although officials in Georgia quickly dismissed the allegations against the two women, and a years-long investigation cleared them of wrongdoing, Ms. Freeman and Ms. Moss said they are still suffering the consequences.

Ms Freeman said she could no longer use her name, which made things difficult when she bought a new house and had to register for utilities. She wears a mask and sunglasses when she is in public.

“Sometimes I don’t know who I am,” she said. “What’s my name today?”

After purchasing her new home, Mrs. Freeman had security cameras installed everywhere. She said the neighbors are friendly, but she keeps to herself to avoid introductions.

“My life is just a mess,” she said as her testimony came to an end. “It’s just really a mess, all because someone messed me up, just tweet my name to their millions of followers.”

Mr Sibley refused to cross-examine Ms Freeman. Mr. Giuliani’s defense begins Thursday, when he is expected to testify.

The members of the WhatsApp group had advantages that many other Gazans lacked: working cellphones and a way to communicate with each other to prevent deadly Israeli attacks.

But excerpts from their conversations about the besieged southern town of Khan Younis show how even they were baffled by Israel’s sometimes contradictory evacuation warnings, which they described as confusing.

“How do you know which blocks are threatened? Where do you get the news from?,” read one of the excerpts seen by The New York Times.

    ‘Is block 49 threatened?’

“Folks, if anyone understands the map, please explain it to us.”

For the many Gazans without reliable cellphones or access to social media, the options for obtaining accurate information to navigate Israel’s evacuation orders are even more challenging — especially as the Israeli army continues its offensive this month against Hamas militants in the south of Gaza has intensified.

The United States has pressured Israel to change the nature of its southern campaign to ensure civilian casualties are minimized, infrastructure is not decimated, and the delivery of humanitarian aid is enabled. Israel says it is addressing humanitarian concerns and points to the directions it has given to Gaza residents – but on the ground, where a wrong turn can mean the difference between life and death, widespread confusion remains.

Since the lull in fighting ended and the focus on southern Gaza began, an Israeli military spokesman, Lt. Col. Avichay Adraee, has posted a series of Arabic-language maps on social media showing which areas people should leave due to danger, accompanied by text about which blocks you should evacuate.

The block numbers correspond to an interactive map of the zones that the army published on December 1. The Israeli army has also dropped kites in Arabic in several regions to advise civilians to evacuate. The United States, Israel’s closest ally, has said the cards represent an improvement on Israel’s part to protect civilians.

But it quickly became clear that Gazans are having difficulty understanding the evacuation orders. Communications networks are unreliable and patchy in Gaza, preventing many people from accessing online maps and instructions. Electricity is also scarce, making it difficult to keep mobile phones charged. Some Gazans say they have not even seen the maps.

Moreover, the Israeli army’s evacuation announcements sometimes seemed to contradict themselves.

In one post on December 2For example, Israel published a map that marked the area east of Khan Younis, bordering Israel, and instructed those staying in the marked area to move south to Rafah. However, the text of the post mentioned block groups requiring evacuation that were not shown on any map in the same post – and some were on the other side of Gaza, on the coast.

In a message on December 3, the evacuation order map told Gazans in dozens of specific blocks to leave. However, the text contradicted the order and omitted some of it. For example, blocks 55, 99 and 103-106 were marked for evacuation on the map, but not in the text.

The December 2 and 3 posts – the December 3 map was reposted on December 4 – were the last maps of South Gaza available on Colonel Adraee’s X account before he posted. new card on December 9, which showed that a small area in the center of Khan Younis had to be evacuated. On that map, block 103 was the only discrepancy between the text of the message and the map.

When asked to clarify which parts of Gaza were under evacuation orders, the Israeli military referred The Times to Colonel Adraee’s social media account.

The Israeli military, when asked about the discrepancies, told The Times that the maps in the social media posts were intended to provide “general guidance.” Israel says it is taking precautions in its fight against Hamas terrorists to limit civilian casualties, viewing them as an unfortunate but unavoidable part of the war.

Even when Gazans reach areas that Israel has designated as safe, the danger is often far from over.

“Families are aware that such zones do not provide safety in terms of life-saving services – such as water and sanitation,” said James Elder, a spokesman for UNICEF, the UN Children’s Fund. “They know they are in danger when they are on the road. They know locations change. And they know that so-called safe zones have been hit in the past. So they are confused, scared and under constant attack.”

Last Wednesday, the Shaboura area of Rafah, the southern Gaza city bordering Egypt, was attacked despite Israeli military advice that Gazans could safely take shelter there. The attack in Al Shaboura, described by three witnesses in voicemail recordings heard by The Times, was previously reported by The Washington Post. In a statement on the attack, the Israeli military said that in its effort to dismantle Hamas’ military and administrative capabilities, it followed international law and “took feasible precautions to limit damage to the civilian population.”

The Israeli agency that oversees policy for the Palestinian territories, COGAT, said it was using various methods to communicate with Gazans when and where to evacuate.

“We also continuously monitor whether our advance warning is efficient,” says Colonel Moshe Tetro, head of coordination and contact person at COGAT. “We look at whether the message has been received, and not just whether it has been received, but also whether people actually act on the message.”

“It’s not just about issuing warnings,” he said.

Since the first week of the war, Israel has ordered the evacuation of more than half of the Gaza Strip. The United Nations says nearly 1.9 million people, or more than 80 percent of Gaza’s population, have been displaced. More than 15,000 Palestinians have been killed, according to Gaza health authorities.

As Gaza residents huddle into smaller areas, shelters have become so overcrowded that hundreds of people are forced to share one toilet. The United Nations has warned that in Rafah “there is no longer any empty space for people to take shelter, even in the south and other open areas.”

Maisa al-Jarar, a 32-year-old mother of five, said she and her family fled from Gaza City to Khan Younis at the start of the war. Now, she says, Israeli forces have warned them to look elsewhere.

“They left kites – people are terrified,” she said.

‘We don’t even know which block we are in, which area. We don’t know which zone and which number,” Ms al-Jarar said via Facebook Messenger. “My husband went to Rafah to find a place for us but it’s all disgusting. People are forced to relieve themselves on the street. The stench is terrible, the disease is spreading.”

Choking back tears, Mrs. Al-Jarar described a litany of misery: being forced to feed her children salt water, her husband desperate for food that was becoming increasingly expensive and scarce, and the inability to get medicine for her sick find children.

“We want to live a life of dignity,” she said. ‘I wish they would drop an atomic bomb on us. I swear, it would be more comfortable than this life we’re living.

Royal author Omid Scobie has expressed confusion that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have failed to ‘continue the conversation’ about the alleged ‘racist royal’ scandal in their Netflix documentary or the Duke of Sussex’s book Spare – and admitted that it was as if their claims suddenly “disappeared from view.”

The royal commentator – who today released his controversial new book Endgame, which examines the monarchy’s ‘struggle for survival’ – opened up about Harry and Meghan’s claim that a senior member of the royal family raised ‘concerns’ about the color from the skin of their son Archie. during an appearance on GMA 3 today.

When asked by the hosts what he could share about what he had learned about the allegations, Scobie said he had “always wondered why” the couple hadn’t mentioned the comments again after airing them so publicly during their bombshell sit- down with Oprah. Winfrey in March 2021.

“Listen, there are a lot of people who said, ‘It’s normal to have conversations about what a child might look like at birth.’ But I think the problematic term that Meghan brought up was that there were ‘concerns’ about the color of Archie’s skin,” he said.

‘I’ve always wondered why Harry and Meghan didn’t continue that conversation in the Netflix series and in Harry’s book Spare. It was as if it disappeared from view and I wanted to get to the bottom of that.’

Scobie went on to make claims in his book that King Charles and Meghan exchanged “respectful” letters about the couple’s decision to make such damaging accusations so publicly.

He claimed that Charles and Meghan still disagree on the issue ‘to this day’, but doubled down on the claim that they had a productive ‘conversation’ about the Sussex allegations.

“To find out more about these letters that were exchanged between Meghan and Charles after that interview with Oprah, where, while neither of them agree to this day, they at least shared their questions and concerns about that being able to share conversations that were happening within the family,” he continued.

In his book, Scobie claimed Meghan and King Charles now have a “pleasant relationship” after going “respectfully back and forth” via a letter about the two members of the royal family who made the comments about Archie.

He wrote in the book that Charles first contacted Meghan in the spring of 2021 — not long after the Oprah interview aired — to express his “disappointment” that the couple had “chosen to make their words public.” .

Scobie claims sources said Charles wanted to tell his daughter-in-law that he felt there was “no ill will” present when two people reportedly commented on Archie’s skin color.

In his book, Scobie claims Meghan and King Charles exchanged “respectful” letters regarding the Sussexes’ claims about an unnamed royal’s alleged “racist” comments.

The source told Scobie that the letters were “respectful” but “serious”, adding: “I don’t know if they completely agreed in the end, but at least there was a sense that they had both been heard.”

Scobie’s appearance on GMA 3 comes just as it was revealed that his controversial book had been withdrawn in the Netherlands after the Dutch translation was reportedly called the so-called “royal racist” accused by Prince Harry and Meghan of making comments about the skin of their son Archie. colour.

Scobie said on GMA 3 that his book title was not intended to “proclaim this as the end of the monarchy,” but that he believes the royal family has “reached a peak.”

In the original edition of his book, which was published around the world today, Scobie does not name the member of the royal family who allegedly expressed “concerns” about Archie’s skin color.

Scobie – who is known to have a close relationship with Meghan and Harry – has said libel laws prevented him from naming the person, although he claimed a second person within the royal family echoed the comments.

But a page from a review copy of the book sent to Dutch journalists does mention a name, although it is not clear from the context what the person is accused of.

Referring to letters written between Meghan and the king discussing the matter, the page reads: ‘But in those private letters [the identity] was confirmed: [the Mail has redacted the name concerned].’

It is not clear why a foreign language version of the book would mention a person while other editions did not – or what that person is accused of – and it is not known whether it is intentionally included or whether it is a major publishing error.

During their interview with Oprah, the couple (seen with baby Archie in 2019) sparked a wave of speculation when they said an unnamed royal raised “concerns” about their baby’s skin color.

A spokesperson for the Dutch publisher said: ‘You’re right, but I can’t talk about the details. However, we received a request to put the title on hold and we did so.’

When asked when that request was received, she explains: “Just now.

‘We are awaiting further instructions. I don’t know how long this will be. You need to speak to the American agent.”

The original claim about the so-called racist royal was made by Meghan in her infamous March 2020 Oprah interview, when she revealed there were “several conversations” between herself, Harry and members within the royal family about “how dark” baby Archie would be are. when he was born.

‘During those months when I was pregnant [there were] concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be at birth,” Meghan said in the interview.

Harry added: ‘I’m never going to share that conversation. At that moment it was awkward, I was a bit shocked.”

Meghan added: “I think it would be very damaging to them.”

The resulting public outcry over the claims prompted Harry’s brother William to publicly insist that they were “not a racist family at all.”

Scobie addressed the furor surrounding his book’s “controversial” title, telling GMA 3 that he wasn’t trying to “proclaim this as the end of the monarchy,” but rather pointed out that the royal family is a ” peak moment’ has been reached. ‘.

“You know, it’s interesting, the name itself is quite controversial, people think I’m proclaiming this as the end of the monarchy,” he said.

‘I’m just saying that we have reached these pinnacle moments where the monarchy as we know it, that is, the monarchy that the Queen was head of for 70 years, is at stake.

“I think there are so many issues, so many unanswered problems, so many things that we in Britain have only just started to talk about because we now feel comfortable having conversations about the purpose and relevance of the Royal family.’

Scobie went on to suggest that the monarchy is at a crucial point where the royal family will either “bring it into a modern future” and “secure its stability” or see it “fade into insignificance.”
