I have a newborn baby and a six month old baby. I gave birth to both and people are so confused

A MOTHER-OF-TWO has claimed she has a six-month-old newborn due to a rare medical phenomenon.

Hairstylist Jessica sparked intrigue on social media after revealing she was the biological mother of and gave birth to both toddlers.

And because pregnancies typically last nine months, people quickly demanded answers from Jessica about how her situation happened.

“I really don't want to sit here and explain to myself why I have a newborn and a six-month-old,” she responded on TikTok.

“But for the good people in the comments who really want to know what happened, I'm going to answer.

'Yes everyone, it's called superfetation.

“A person can become pregnant while pregnant.

“That's what it's called, if you guys didn't know or didn't do your research.”

Superfetation is an extremely rare medical phenomenon in which two children are conceived in the same womb at different times.

This means that embryos will grow in the uterus at the same time, but continuously at different stages of development.

Even though superfetation babies are technically twins, they spend different amounts of time in the womb.

Superfetation is so rare that ten cases have been recorded worldwide, not including Jessica's claims from the US.

Last April, Australian mother of four Sandra Searle gave birth to superfetation twins, leaving doctors scratching their heads.

That would make Jessica the eleventh woman to experience the phenomenon, but people aren't convinced she's telling the truth.

The new mother gave birth to her sons at different times, while superfetation pregnancies occur at the same time.

People have speculated that when Jessica had a C-section, surgeons closed her down for another six months after delivering her eldest.

“There are only ten confirmed cases of superfetation twins and never more than four weeks apart,” said one skeptic on Jessica's TikTok video.

“If this were true, it would be big medical news.”

“With superfetation, the babies are never more than a few days or weeks apart,” challenges a second.

Jessica has refused to answer questions and criticism.

“People are really so curious and this is the only explanation I can give,” she said.
