Johnny Depp is accused of swearing and berating his co-star Lola Glaudini on the set of the 2001 film.

Lola, 52, who had the small supporting role of Rada in the film, shared her unpleasant experience working with the actor 20 years after shooting the film.

The actress claimed the Donnie Brasco star, 60, called her a “f*****g idiot” and told her to “shut up” while speaking about the alleged incident in a recently surfaced clip from the Powerful truth angels podcast.

According to Lola, the problems started after director Ted Demme told her to “burst out laughing” after one of Johnny’s lines, but the actor was not happy with the gesture.

However, a representative for Depp denied the claims and told Variety the actor “always prioritizes good working relationships with cast and crew and this story differs greatly from the recollection of other members on set at the time.”

Depp’s career has been plagued by controversy in recent years, following his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard after she claimed she was a victim of domestic abuse during their 15-month marriage.

Lola claimed that after she laughed, Depp went on a tirade, swearing at her while sticking “his finger in my face.”

‘[Depp] says his monologue. I hear the signal, and I go haha, I laugh out loud or whatever. Johnny Depp, when they say cut, walks up to me, comes up to me, sticks his finger in my face and says, ‘Who the fuck do you think you are? Is that you? Shut your mouth.”‘

“I’m here, and I’m trying to say my lines, and you’re drawing all the damn attention. You fucking idiot,” she remembered him saying that to her.

“Oh, well, oh now it’s not so funny? Now can you shut up? Now can you shut the fuck up? The silence you have now, that’s how you fucking stay.”

Lola went on to say, “The first day on set I never met him. This was my first studio film, until then I had only done indie films.’

“And I have the star that I have idolized, that I so desperately want to work with, punched me in the face. The only thing going through my head was, “Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry.”

Lola went on to say that Johnny later gave her a “non-apology,” but she acted like nothing happened.

‘[Johnny] said, “You know, so before I was really in my head and staying in character, I’m doing this Boston accent, and it’s really fucking with me. So I’m kind of uptight and stuff” So I just wanted to making sure we’re cool and all that?’

Lola replied, “I just looked at him and was like, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about? Of course, what are you talking about? Totally cool.’ Because I thought… my dad said, “Don’t let them see you sweat.” So that was that,” she shared.

She also stated that the director “didn’t come over and say anything” when she was allegedly berated by Depp, and “when we wrapped up, I was like a pariah.” No one wanted to talk to me because I’m the asshole he was railing against.”

Meanwhile, Depp’s rep disputed the story by citing Blow’s sound engineer Samuel Sarkar, who also worked with the actor on films such as Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Chocolat, and co-produced Depp’s film Minamata.

Sarkar told Variety in a statement, “As a healthy person, you are constantly listening to what is happening on set, listening to sounds, listening to chatter. In fact, I listened to Johnny’s audio specifically to check for interference, both during rehearsals and during recording. I’ve never heard anything like it – and that would have been a remarkable event.’

The biographical crime drama Blow followed Depp, who played American cocaine king George Jung (based on a real-life American drug trafficker of the same name), and his narco network, including Pablo Escobar and Carlos Lehder Rivas, and the Medellín Cartel.

He starred opposite Penelope Cruz, who played his love interest.

His former co-star’s allegations come two years after Depp’s defamation trial with ex-wife Amber Heard, 37, in which details of their tumultuous relationship emerged in court.

Depp won a favorable outcome at trial after his legal team successfully argued that Heard’s op-ed in the Washington Post accusing her ex-husband of domestic violence was defamatory. He was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages.

Heard did not publicly mention Depp in the piece, but given their status and fame, it was clear who she was referring to regarding her history of alleged abuse.

Although Depp won $10 million in damages, the jury also found in Heard’s favor on one of her three counterclaims.

Ultimately, the former couple reached a settlement over the jury awards, and Heard was only forced to pay Depp a total of $1 million, which he would donate to five different charities.

Lily Van Der Woodsen wouldn’t miss Chuck Bass’ wedding – and Kelly Rutherford feels the same as attending Ed Westwick‘s upcoming wedding.

“I miss that character, but I still keep in touch with almost everyone from the show. I’m going to Ed [Westwick] wedding and I’m so excited,” the Gossip Girl alum, 55, narrated Variety at the French TV festival Series Mania.

Rutherford, 55, played Lily Van Der Woodsen, mother of Blake Lively‘s Serena, on the CW series from 2007 to 2012, while Westwick, 36, starred as Chuck Bass.

“It was before this whole super politically correct time,” Rutherford said of the original Gossip Girl. “We were on the edge of it and there’s just a different energy about it. After the first season we knew [it was huge].”

Rutherford added that she would “love” to return to the world of Gossip Girl, calling Lily a “fierce mother.” Continuing to reflect on her time on the series, she said: “The women I grew up with were very chic, but I hadn’t really seen a mother like that on TV. Until now I didn’t realize how much people loved Lily. At first it was all about these kids. We were just parents. Then they started writing more for us.”

Rutherford added that she likes to think about the original show’s wildest plot points. “There were times when we would read the script in the morning and some people would say, ‘I would never say this, I would never do this.’ Oh yeah, you would,” she recalled. “We all have a beautiful perception of ourselves, but we are dynamic beings. Lily would screw up and fix it, and being able to admit this as a parent was huge.

Despite Rutherford’s willingness to return, Max’s has now been cancelled Gossip Girl reboot featured an entirely new cast of characters. “I think they thought it was just easier to create a new environment,” Rutherford said. The Gossip Girl the revival only lasted two seasons before being canceled in 2023.

Sharon Stone has finally revealed the identity of the producer who pressured her to have sex with a co-star for the first time — as well as the actor she had to get intimate with to improve on-screen chemistry.

The actress, 66, previously discussed the situation with her 2021 memoir – without revealing identities – but has now revealed the producer was Robert Evans, the actor Alec Baldwin‘s brother Billy, and the movie was Sliver in 1993.

Evans, who died in 2019, was also a producer on Chinatown and The Cotton Club, and led production at Paramount on The Godfather, The Italian Job, True Grit and The Great Gatsby.

Sliver was Sharon’s next film after achieving major success and megastardom in last year’s hit Basic Instinct.

Speaking Louis Theroux’s podcastshe said, “They expected me to take home another huge hit and they gave me casting approval and they gave me all these approvals, but when it came time for me to do it, they told me it was a vanity deal and I couldn’t get my approval.

“Then they started blaming me for their mistakes, and they made terrible mistakes in the way they hired and cast directors.”

She said former actor and producer Evans called her into his office from filming to ask her to sleep with lead actor William Baldwin – one of four acting brothers, and better known as Billy – as compensation.

She said: ‘He called me into his office. It had really low couches from the 70s and 80s, so I’m actually sitting on the floor when I should have been standing on the set.

“And he runs around his office in sunglasses explaining to me that he slept with Ava Gardner and that I should sleep with Billy Baldwin because if I slept with Billy Baldwin, Billy Baldwin’s performance would be better.

“And we needed Billy to get better in the movie because that was the problem.

“And if I could sleep with Billy, we’d have on-screen chemistry, and if I just had sex with him, that would save the movie, and the real problem with the movie was me, because I was so tense, and so not like a real actress who can just fuck him and get things back on track. The real problem was that I was so tight.’

Sharon said that when she heard his request, she simply thought that he had not listened to the list of actors she had suggested for Baldwin’s role of Zeke Hawkins, and was frustrated that the film’s bosses expected them not to be more would co-star with Michael Douglas. Baldwin’s basic instinct.

I also felt like they could fuck him themselves and leave me out of it. It was my job to act and I said so.

‘This was not a popular response. I was considered difficult.’

Nevertheless, Billy, now 61, has since built up an extensive resume of film and TV credits of his own, including Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Gossip Girl.

And just two years after Sliver, in 1995, the actor married Chynna Phillips – daughter of Mamas & the Papas bandmates John and Michelle Phillips.

The couple, who have since welcomed three children together, had recently laid bare their marital problems in a series of candid YouTube clips.

The couple opened up about a serious “rift” in their relationship after Chynna converted to Christianity.

Elsewhere during the interview, Sharon shed light on working with Total Recall star Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Speaking about her co-star, she shared how the hunk helped her “lift weights” and build muscle for the film ahead of their on-screen fight scene as husband and wife.

She also described him as a “brilliant man” as she delved into her time together with Schwarzenegger.

Moving on to Sharon’s love life, the two discussed Sharon’s use of the dating app Bumble after Louis pointed out that she was “kicked off for pretending to be herself.”

Furthermore, she also reveals that she “ended up undergoing all kinds of different kinds of experiments.”

While on the app during the pandemic, she found herself “Facetiming people and chatting for long periods of time,” describing the dates she was on as an “emergency.”

HIS onscreen swagger — and those unforgettable belted cardigans — made Paul Michael Glaser the epitome of 1970s cool. Starring alongside David Soul in the iconic detective show Starsky & Hutch, Paul, who played the streetwise Starsky, was all action, all wisecracks.

So indelibly is he linked to his most famous macho cop character, it’s something of a ­surprise to be faced with such a thoughtful, introspective man.

Part of that introspection may lie in the fact that this is his first interview since David Soul — aka the more cerebral Hutch — died in January at the age of 80.

For women of a certain vintage, when David passed away, part of our girlhood went with him.

But Paul lost a ‘brother, a friend, a caring man’. Despite the fact the series — in which the pair tore around the streets of the ­fictional Bay City, California, in the distinctive red and white Ford Gran Torino — ended in 1979, the actors remained close for the next 40 years.

In the immediate aftermath of Soul’s death, Paul admitted he found it ‘difficult to comprehend David’s passing . . . It just takes time, I tell myself; saying goodbye to such a dear friend and important part of my life I suspect that I will let myself feel his loss, our loss, only gradually. We shall never see his like again’.

These were feelings clearly reciprocated by David Soul: he described Paul on Twitter late last year as someone who ‘is and will always be my best friend, my brother’.

While Soul had to overcome demons in his private life — married five times, he battled issues with alcohol — his friendship with his former co-star remained constant.

Glaser was even pictured carefully ­pushing his friend in a wheelchair in 2017 at an event they attended together — a hip replacement that went wrong had seen Soul spend 72 days in intensive care.

Though the cause of David’s death has not been disclosed, he was known to have ­previously battled cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease — a life-shortening lung condition he attributed to having been a heavy smoker at one time.

‘We spoke about a week and a half before he died,’ says Paul, now 80, ‘and even though I knew he hadn’t been doing well for a while, because he and I would talk about it a lot, I just didn’t know how fast it was happening’.

For all his success, loss has, sadly, been an all-too-prominent feature of Paul’s life. In 1988, his daughter, Ariel, died, not long after celebrating her seventh birthday. Six years later, in 1994, his wife of 14 years, Elizabeth, also died, aged 47.

Both mother and daughter lost their lives due to complications from Aids — a terrible disease that carried a huge stigma for ­sufferers back then, even those living in the glossy world of Hollywood. As Elizabeth said, before tragedy struck, they had been ‘the picture-perfect family’.

Nevertheless, the Glaser ­family’s devastating experience was turned into something positive. Elizabeth created a foundation to fund research into Aids/HIV, and it was hearing her story that helped inspire Princess Diana’s work in this field, with the two women becoming friends.

In 1994 Diana visited the Glasers at their holiday home in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.

‘I really liked her — she was fun, available and very approachable,’ says Paul.

‘And she came to see Elizabeth — not me,’ he adds. ‘I was just Elizabeth’s husband.’

Paul and Elizabeth, a teacher, had met in 1975 after he spotted her in an LA traffic jam. He ­signalled to her to pull over and then jokingly asked to see her driver’s licence and registration. Starsky & Hutch had yet to air, but his charm clearly worked.

They married after five years together and the births of their two children followed.

But in 1985, they sought medical advice after becoming worried about the persistent and severe stomach aches from which four-year-old Ariel had been suffering.

After numerous tests, the couple — Paul was then 42 and Elizabeth 38 — were devastated to learn their little girl had tested positive for HIV.

This was, after all, a time when Aids was an almost certain death sentence, and ignorance meant those who carried HIV were often shunned by their communities, something the Glasers would experience themselves.

It transpired that Elizabeth had contracted the virus directly after giving birth to Ariel in 1981 — from a contaminated blood transfusion she needed after she had suffered a haemorrhage.

This was at a time early on in the Aids epidemic when blood ­donations were not routinely screened for HIV — indeed, a test for the virus became available only in 1985.

Unaware she had been infected, Elizabeth began breastfeeding Ariel and, in doing so, is believed to have passed the virus on to her baby daughter.

In 1984, still unaware of her HIV status, Elizabeth gave birth to the couple’s second child, Jake. ­Following Ariel’s diagnosis, it was later discovered that he, too, had been infected with HIV — having contracted it in the womb.

Paul, however, escaped infection — the virus can be passed on ­during intercourse — because he is a carrier of a rare gene now known to resist the HIV virus.

It later emerged that Jake had inherited that gene from his father, which gave him some resistance to Aids.

Eight years ago, Jake crossed paths with Prince Harry during the International Aids Conference in Durban, and ‘he never had anything bad to say about [him],’ says Paul.

But then Harry and Jake’s ­mothers turned out to be kindred spirits, having been introduced by a mutual friend who felt they would get on.

In an interview with People ­magazine, Jake recalled the bond that formed between the two women.

‘They really hit it off from moment one,’ he said. ‘It was the love to support and protect their children that brought them together. She [Diana] was there for her as a friend and a ­supportive voice.’

Jake added that ‘Diana called my Mom often in the last year of her life’. Even when Elizabeth was no longer able to speak, someone would hold the phone to her ear so that she could hear the ­Princess’s voice.

Now 39, Jake has been honest about his own struggles, ­admitting to having experienced ‘survivor’s guilt’, and explaining how, as a grief-stricken teenager, he would secretly dispose of his daily HIV medications, which were still ­necessary despite his genetic resistance to the disease.

Then, aged 27, Jake had what Paul termed a ‘come-to-Jesus moment’ and started taking his prescribed drugs after his doctor warned that failure to do so would be fatal.

‘His health is holding, it’s fine,’ says Paul. ‘And he’s doing fine and finding his own way.

‘I’m proud of him for the ­struggle he’s gone through, the journey he’s on and his willingness to embrace it and learn from it.’

Father and son are heavily involved in the Elizabeth ­Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation, which funds research into the disease. Paul is its honorary chairman and Jake works for it.

Such have been the medical advances made since his mother’s death that Jake has even expressed a desire to have ­children one day — something that would have been unimaginable at the time he was born.

HIV medication has transformed what was once a death ­sentence, and millions of ­people now live with Aids/HIV.

‘He’s in a relationship and, of course, I’d love to be a grand-father,’ says Paul. ‘But I don’t have any control over that!’

It’s impossible to comprehend the depths of grief Paul has ­experienced in his life, but what is obvious today is that his inner strength is truly inspiring.

‘I went through everything you could imagine,’ he says. ‘You feel every emotion from helplessness and rage to guilt and fear.

‘And you also ask: “Why me?” until eventually, if you’re lucky, you learn: “Well, why not me?”

‘But in truth, I was just in shock for a long, long time. You go into ­survival mode when you ­experience something like that. Then you have to deal with the ­reverberations of everything you felt then and are feeling now.’

He adds: ‘But at the time, sure . . . I felt destroyed.’

The grief of seeing one’s family decimated might have felled a lesser man, ‘but I don’t think I ever thought of ending it,’

says Paul. ‘On the one hand, I don’t think I had the courage

to take my own life and on the other, [I knew that] life is such a precious thing.

‘When I was in my 20s and 30s, I may have thought I was doing OK in life, but then you go through something like this and it will either teach you a lot or it’ll destroy you.’

Speaking from his home in ­California, Paul remains ­determined to channel his ­experiences into helping others.

To that end, he has been holding motivational Zoom talks for the past two years entitled Power of Awareness. ‘I usually talk for about 30 minutes and then answer questions,’ he says.

‘I primarily concentrate on the presence of fear in our lives and our inability to acknowledge it and do something with it. But fear is a natural state. Without it, you wouldn’t have love.’

Of his own experience he says: ‘Obviously, it was painful; ­obviously, I was fearful.

‘What I’ve learned is that you can utilise a painful, difficult ­experience and choose to focus on the part of you that is not ­suffering from it.’

Paul’s admirable lack of self-pity was echoed by his late wife, who co-wrote the book In The Absence Of Angels, a moving account of her experience which acutely captures the culture of fear ­surrounding HIV and Aids in the 1980s.

The family had managed to keep their situation private for more than three years, when it became known some Los Angeles schools had refused to admit Ariel.

As Elizabeth described at the time: ‘Some friends refused to let my kids come to their homes at all. Some said their children could continue to play with mine, but only at the park. Some dropped out of our lives.’

Paul admits today: ‘That felt ­isolating, particularly when you add the celebrity aspect to it.’

Elizabeth also described how she had to learn how to forgive:

‘I had to forgive the blood donor. I had to forgive the doctors, the hospitals, the schools, and I had to forgive fate.’

Though proud of everything Elizabeth achieved, Paul baulks at how ‘her life and her story have now kind of entered the pantheon of mythology’.

He adds: ‘People wanted to make her into a saint, but she did the best she could with what she had. And she did it very well.’

Paul’s matter-of-fact attitude extends to his fame, too.

‘Well, I look at acting as something I can do and as a way I find of communicating with people,’ he says. ‘But I’m a better actor than I am a celebrity. I was never comfortable with the fame.’

As well as his most memorable turn as Starsky — which ran for four seasons — he also starred in films such as Fiddler On The Roof and the Jack Nicholson-Diane Keaton rom-com Something’s Gotta Give. He also directed ­several movies and TV shows.

In 2004, he and David Soul teamed up again for cameo roles in the comedy film version of ­Starsky & Hutch, opposite Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson.

Two years after Elizabeth died, Paul married producer Tracy ­Barone, with whom he had a daughter, Zoe, now 26. The marriage ended in 2007 after 11 years. He now lives alone and focuses on his work as a painter and artist.

Of Ariel and Elizabeth he says: ‘I speak to them still, to that part of them inside me.’

Despite the obvious pain he has endured, he made a conscious decision to ‘not be a victim’ of ­circumstances beyond the ­comprehension of most of us.

‘You can choose to acknowledge your willingness to carry on and your desire to hope,’ he says. ‘You can find a way to love yourself and love the journey and the battle — and be proud when you do.’

Sophia Bush reunited with her One Tree Hill co-star Hilarie Burton on Thursday night – almost 12 years after the CW show went off the air.

They hit the red carpet together at the premiere of Netflix’s GIRLS5EVA, which debuts its third season on March 14 in New York City.

Bush, 41, and Burton, 41, played on-screen BFFs Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer, respectively, in the teen drama that ran for nine seasons from 2003 to 2012.

Bush appeared in all nine seasons, while Burton made a shocking exit in 2009 ahead of the show’s seventh season, alongside co-star Chad Michael Murray.

Despite it being fifteen years since their last on-screen appearance, Bush and Burton have maintained a close friendship.

And their bond was on full display at Thursday’s big red carpet event.

Bush sizzled in a fitted black leather jacket, styled with matching trousers and heels.

The actress wore minimal makeup and she let her long brunette hair down all night long.

Meanwhile, Burton looked radiant in a silky green dress, worn under a black blazer with shiny gold buttons.

The Solstice star rocked black boots with gold hardware and her voluminous locks were swept to the side.

She carried a striking Coach bag containing Richard Bernstein’s stunning 1969 portrait of a young Barbra Streisand.

Although she teased a potential guest star role on One Tree Hill prior to her departure, Burton never returned to the TV show.

On her Drama Queens podcast in 2021, she revealed that it was her One Tree Hill co-star Moira Kelly who encouraged her to leave the show, while everyone else begged her to stay.

“Moira, this is the first time I’ve seen you since I left the show. I’ve wanted to tell you this for years and years and years, but on the last episode of the show, everyone in my world told me, “You can’t leave.” You can’t leave,” Burton told Moira, who was that week’s guest.

“I didn’t direct because I didn’t want to be on set all day because it was so bad. You came and you sat next to me and you started joking, and you said, ‘What’s going on?'” Burton added.

Burton told her she didn’t know what to do, and Kelly’s response was, “Run,” which Burton said she “started as a joke.”

‘I was like, “Yes?” You said to me, ‘There are so many chapters in life and this is just one. This is just one,” Burton reminisced.

She added that Kelly was the only member of the cast and crew “who gave me permission to go” from the show, which she left after the sixth season.

“I really appreciated your opinion of me and our company and the way you put your family before your job, and that’s what I wanted – what you had is what I wanted,” Burton said.

“You didn’t have to say anything because you were living it and we could just see it…I honestly wanted to thank you for that since I was 26 years old,” Burton said.

One Tree Hill premiered in 2003 on The CW, formerly The WB, and follows the lives of Lucas (played by Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan Scott (played by James Lafferty), two high school-age half-brothers living in fictional North Carolina. live. village.

Burton, Bush and Bethany Joy Lenz played the drama’s three main girls: Peyton Sawyer, Brooke Davis and Haley James Scott.

Last year, Burton publicly defended Bush after her ex-girlfriend Erin Foster accused her of having an affair with Chad Michael Murray.

Foster claimed that Murray cheated on her with Bush while they were still dating.

Using the app’s Stories feature, she posted a news article about Foster’s accusation, writing, “Ooof. Shrink. I got off my red-eye flight home and several people had sent me this headline.”

She added, “Like the person who was sitting in the front row at the time? This wasn’t it. We were all told that you were broken up and therefore our husband was too [pursuing] her. This is now being made up to make my sister look like a brazen whore.”

Burton went straight to the source of the drama when she tagged Foster in her post.

“Happy to discuss @erinfoster,” she wrote, adding, “You deserve the truth too.”

The note continued, “There are so many unnamed sources making claims about the woman I love, so fuck it. I will be a cited source. Lotta internet voices are nasty, and as the person who knows the real timeline? It would be laughable if that were the case [weren’t] so painful.’

Sydney Sweeney hilariously shut down rumors of an “affair” with her rom-com co-star Glen Powell in her SNL monologue by showing off her “fiance” in the crowd.

Rumors surrounding Sweeney, 26, and Powell, 35,’s romance spiraled out of control as the pair filmed Everyone But You together in Australia – with fans saying their off-screen chemistry was undeniable.

The gossip spread even more after news broke that Powell had broken up with his girlfriend of more than three years, model Gigi Paris, in April 2023 – just months after his on-screen romance with Sweeney was filmed.

Despite Powell’s breakup, Sweeney has remained faithful to her fiancé Jonathan Davino, 40, throughout her time working with the Top Gun hunk — and she made sure to let the SNL audience know about it during her opening monologue.

“The craziest rumor I’ve seen is that while I was filming someone other than you, I had an affair with my co-star Glen Powell… That’s clearly not true,” the actress said.

“My fiancé and I produced the film together and he was there for the entire shoot,” she continued.

‘I just want to let everyone know that he is the man of my dreams. And we are still together and stronger than ever. He even came here tonight to support me… can we go see him?’

The camera then panned to an unsuspecting Glen Powell standing in the audience grinning, before Sydney jokingly shouted: “That’s not my fiance, he’s in my dressing room.”

Powell has previously admitted that he and Sweeney agreed to “play up” the dating rumors as publicity for the rom-com.

When asked about their decision to delve into their characters, Ben and Bea, Powell opened up about using their “authentic chemistry” to entice viewers to watch their rom-com.

‘I She doesn’t have the mental capacity to pull something like that off, but she’s very smart. She is very smart,” the Ton Gun: Maverick actor told Business Insider. “I’ve had such an amazing journey with her in this field. But in terms of actually dating and actually being together? [Laughs.]’

As for how their on-screen chemistry and natural rapport during press events may have caused him “a lot of headaches,” the artist acknowledged his breakup with Gigi Paris.

“Well, look, the only reason it became harder for me to dig into that was because I was going through a very real breakup on a promotional tour,” he explained.

Powell continued, “I was with someone I really loved and cared about, and I was trying to understand a lot of things.”

Meanwhile, the 35-year-old pointed out that “it was a lot easier for Sydney to do something like that because she’s in a very committed and great relationship and she’s very happy.”

Powell also admitted that he and Sweeney “love each other” but are not in a romantic relationship.

When asked about their romance on the Today show, Glen and Sydney started giggling, before Glen replied: ‘No, but we do love each other. And honestly, this is one of the most spectacular people I’ve ever met. She’s really great.’

Sydney also shot down the rumors during a tell-all interview with Variety in August.

‘It’s a rom-com. That’s what people want,” she said.

“Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker.

“We’re excited about the press trip and I literally left ADR with him. We talk all the time.’

Her comments came as a production member working on the film claimed that a number of people on set “thought they were already a couple.”

“I knew him from Top Gun,” they said. ‘But I just assumed they were a couple in real life. This is what it looked like for most of us. And also for some extras.’

Curb Your Enthusiasm star and creator Larry David paid tribute to his late friend Richard Lewis on Wednesday.

Lewis death was first announced by Bette Midler on X (formerly Twitter), before it was subsequently confirmed that he had died at 76 by Variety.

David, also 76, called his fellow comedian ‘like a brother’ in a moving tribute shared in a statement by HBO.

‘Richard and I were born three days apart in the same hospital and for most of my life he’s been like a brother to me,’ he said.

Lewis is credited as appearing in 41 of the 114 episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm aired to date, including the 2000 special that created the framework for the series, according to IMDb.

True to life, the comedian played one of the curmudgeonly David’s best friends, though the two often ended up at each other’s throats for comic effect. 

‘He had that rare combination of being the funniest person and also the sweetest. But today he made me sob and for that I’ll never forgive him.’ 

Fans were heartbroken after Lewis announced in 2021 that he wouldn’t be returning to Curb for its eleventh season after he recovered from multiple surgeries, though he later changed course and appeared in a single scene, before returning more substantially to the ongoing twelfth and final season.

Lewis had already been diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the time he said he would be stepping away from David’s show, though he wouldn’t share the information publicly until April 2023. 

Larry David’s longtime Curb costar Cheryl Hines — who initially played his wife, and later his ex-wife — also expressed her love for Lewis in a moving caption accompanying a photo of the two beaming next to each other.

‘When I was young I had the biggest crush on Richard Lewis,’ she admitted. ‘He was the funniest person on stage and the most handsome comedian. Then when I was cast on Curb Your Enthusiasm, I got to work with him and it was a dream come true.

‘Through the years I learned who Richard really was and the gifts he gave,’ Hines continued. ‘Yes, he was the comedian I fell in love with, but he was also one of the most loving people I know. 

‘He would take time to tell the people he loved what they meant to him — especially in recent years. In between takes on Curb, he would tell me how special I was to him and how much he loved me.

‘To be loved by Richard Lewis. A true gift,’ she added. ‘I love you Richard.’

David and Hines were joined by numerous other high-profile comedians and actors including Steve Martin, Jimmy Kimmel, Michael McKean, Albert Brooks, Paul Feig, Loni Love and many more.

Martin, 78, shared a brief post in response to Midler, calling Lewis’ death a ‘Great sadness.’

Although the two funny men never shared the screen for a major project, they are both considered two of the major stand-up comedians of the past century. 

Others, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Jimmy Kimmel, Michael McKean, Albert Brooks and Paul Feig were just some of the actors and comedians who shared their love and appreciation for Lewis on social media.

Curtis costarred with Lewis on the sitcom Anything But Love for four seasons from 1989 through its cancellation in 1992.

She shared promotional stills from the series of the two looking affectionate, including one featuring guest star John Ritter.

In her caption, she praised her late costar and cited him as the reason she was eventually able to get sober. 

‘I’ve just read that my friend Richard Lewis has died. I remember exactly where I was when I saw a billboard of him about a stand up special on Sunset Boulevard when we were casting the ABC pilot Anything But Love and asked the casting people to bring him in to audition to play my best friend/maybe boyfriend, Marty Gold,’ she wrote, admitting that she found him ‘handsome.’

‘He made me laugh, which is the one thing that a strong, capable woman, can’t really do for herself. He got the part when I snort laughed when he mispronounced the word Bundt cake,’ she continued. ‘He blew everyone else away. 

She said they were supposed to be part of a love triangle, but their stellar chemistry mad producers retool the show with just the two as the leads. 

Despite the fact that he would hide his lines everywhere on set — including on Curtis’ face, she said Lewis ‘was a wonderful actor.’

‘Richard’s last text to me, was hoping that I could convince ABC/Disney to put out another boxed set of episodes of the show,’ she revealed, before admitting: ‘He also is the reason I am sober.’

‘He helped me. I am forever grateful for him for that act of grace alone,’ she wrote, admitting that she was ‘weeping’ as she composed her post. ‘Strange way of saying thank you to a sweet and funny man. Rest in laughter, Richard. My Marty, I love you, Hannah!’

Jimmy Kimmel shared a black-and-white photo of Lewis holding a baseball bat, captioning it, ‘they don’t come any better than Richard.’

The Spinal Tap star Michael McKean managed to find some levity in paying tribute to the late comedian.

‘Farewell, Richard Lewis. Procol Harum has lost another fan, and the rest of us have lost a very good man,’ he wrote sweetly. 

Albert Brooks wrote that Lewis was a ‘brilliantly funny man who will [be] missed by all,’ adding,’ The world needed him now more than ever.’ 

Paul Feig wrote that he was ‘devastated’ to hear of Lewis’ death. 

‘Richard was my hero when I was a standup. I was lucky enough to get to know him and he was the most wonderful man. So supportive and kind and truly one of the funniest people on the planet. You will be missed, my friend,’ he wrote.

Mark Hamill wrote that he was ‘so sad’ to learn that Lewis had died.

‘He was one-of-a-kind & always hilarious. Thank you for a lifetime of laughter,’ he wrote. 

Robert B. Weide, an executive producer on Curb Your Enthusiasm and its principal director for its first five years, paid tribute to Lewis with three photos of the two together, each taken nearly two decades apart.

‘1984. 2004. 2023,’ he wrote, referring to when the pictures were snapped. ‘Reeling from the news. The suddenness of it. I love you, Pal. Always have. Always will.’ 

Nancy Sinatra shared a report of the comic’s death, writing, ‘This is dreadful news. I will always love Richard.’ 

The stand-up star Bill Burr wrote that Lewis was a ‘true original’ and ‘an absolutely fearless comedian who did and said what he wanted.’

Fellow comedian Dane Cook added: ‘Aww @TheRichardLewis I love you and will miss you man. You were a champion. RIP.’ 

‘Richard Lewis was the best,’ wrote Loni Love. ‘he was lovely, hilarious and authentic. Make God laugh my friend.’ 

The English comedy writer Danny Baker tried to tap into some gallows humor that Lewis might have appreciated.

‘Told my wife the awful news Richard Lewis had did. She said, “Oh. But he never looked well though did he?”‘

He clarified that she meant, ‘”He always looked like his time was up.”‘ 

Baker added, ‘I realized this is a very Larry David (and correct) response.’

Sam Morril recalled one of his favorite lines from Lewis’ book I’m Dying Up Here after sharing his sorry at his death: ‘I’ll buy you a tuna sandwich anywhere in this city.’ 

The guitarist Nils Lofgren shared a photo of himself with Lewis.

‘Say it ain’t so!!’ he wrote ‘Damn, we needed you here.’ 

The comedian Jeffrey Ross recalled seeing Lewis at Carnegie Hall in 1989, and he said the veteran comic taught him that ‘you don’t have to play guitar or write songs to be a rockstar.’ 

‘We called each other “son of a caterer” because both our dads ran famous catering halls in New Jersey,’ he shared. ‘He was such a mensch. Long Live King Richard! — son of a caterer.’

Dave Attell called Lewis ‘one of the Greats.’ 

Todd Snider wrote that he would be ‘lost without’ his ‘daily phone calls’ to Lewis. 

 

‘I don’t think I’ve ever been sadder than I am right now and I will think of you every day,’ he added.

Judy Gold called Lewis a ‘gift’ and shared a sweet text message of the two saying they loved each other. 

HBO, where Lewis was a mainstay, also paid tribute to him in a social media post. 

‘We are heartbroken to learn that Richard Lewis has passed away. His comedic brilliance, wit and talent were unmatched. Richard will always be a cherished member of the HBO and Curb Your Enthusiasm families,’ the cable channel shared on its X account. ‘Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and all the fans who could count on Richard to brighten their days with laughter.’

Rebecca Ferguson slams her “absolute idiot” of a former costar without naming names.

While promoting Dune: part twoFerguson, 40, appeared on the ‘Reigning with Josh Smith’ podcast and was asked about her “proudest” moment of speaking out.

“This human was so insecure and angry because this person couldn’t get the scenes out,” she recalled during the episode, which was released on Tuesday, February 27. “And I think I was so vulnerable and uncomfortable that I yelled at it.”

Ferguson went on to say that her costar was “No.” 1 on a call sheet,” so no one came to her defense.

“I would cry when I left the set,” she continued, explaining that the actor would say things along the lines of, “Do you call yourself an actor?” and “This is what I have to work with?” for the cast and crew.

“I remember walking on the next day and saying, ‘Get off my set,’” Ferguson continued. “I remember being so scared and looking at this person and saying, ‘You can leave.’ I’m going to work towards a tennis ball. I never want to see you again. ”

When the producers said the person needed to be on set, Ferguson doubled down and acted on the back of his mind.

“From that point on, I never let myself get to a point where I came home and thought, ‘Why did that happen?’” she concluded.

After the podcast clip went viral, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson quickly came to Ferguson’s defense. (Johnson and Ferguson both played in 2014 Hercules.)

“I hate to see this, but I love seeing her stand up to the bulls. Rebecca was my guardian angel sent from heaven onto our set,” Johnson, 51, shared via X on Wednesday, February 28. “I love that woman. I would like to know who did this.”

Fans on Tom Cruise‘s name as a possibility. However, Ferguson has previously praised her experience working with Cruise, 61 Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Mission: Impossible – Fallout And Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning part one.

“He expects the best from everyone. That’s probably the only thing I really took with me. If you can’t make it happen, that’s fine, you always look for other solutions,” Ferguson said Radio times in December 2023. “But he’s the first one on set and the last one out. If you ask for everyone to be the best they can be, you have to make that happen for yourself too. And he does that too.”
