There was speculation for months about the card and who would fight in the main event of the massive show.

But it’s all been confirmed now as Alex Pereira looks to defend the UFC light-heavyweight title against Jamahal Hill in the headline fight.

Hill won the title against Glover Texeira in January 2023 before relinquishing it due to injury.

Pereira then won against Jiri Prochazka at the end of last year. But now Hill wants his title back.

Elsewhere on the card, Justin Gaethje takes on Max Holloway for the BMF title and Charles Oliveira takes on Arman Tsarukyan.

When is UFC 300?

• UFC 300 – Pereira vs Hill takes place next month on Saturday, April 13.

What has been said?

Hill has called those criticizing the UFC 300 main event “crazy.”

“Honestly, I think it’s crazy because for the most part, a lot of these people are the same people who have been calling me ‘cry baby’ for the better part of a year or however long, but it’s crazy to see how a card can become stacked,” he said.

“The main card literally has a former champion or champion in every fight […] Each of the preliminaries is worth standing on its own, and people are crying.”

CONOR McGREGOR has opened up about the “lack of transparency” surrounding his return fight with the UFC.

McGregor has been out since July 2021 when he brutally broke his leg in the first round against Dustin Poirier.

But the Irishman, who has made a full recovery, has begged the UFC to get his comeback signed and sealed.

He remains ready to face American Michael Chandler, 37, but talks continue to drag on.

McGregor, 34, said: “We will still have discussions in the first quarter of this year, it’s a bit of a lack of transparency, a bit of long finger.

“I still have two fights left on my contract, I don’t think we both know what the transfer will be.

“I just want to get a little more consistency in my training. Am I flat now? No. But I am.

“I had a schedule planned for the beginning of this year, I had a schedule planned for January and I had a schedule planned for December even before that.

“I had set up camps, I had a camp in Cannes in the south of France. I also had a camp in Dubai, with some world champions with me.

“I set up a strong camp and I was well prepared for it. And then you get a lack of transparency. It’s like you’re just being strung along.”

McGregor is promoting the release of his film debut, starring alongside Hollywood superstar Jake Gyllenhaal in a Roadhouse reboot.

And once his film commitments and St. Patrick’s Day celebrations are over, McGregor will aim for a June 29 return.

He said, “Then I start to lose interest myself, so I get caught up in other things that are going on, like this and that.

“I hope I can get this done, just a few more days and the film will be released in another ten days or a week.

“So once that’s done, my job is done and then I’ve got Paddy’s festivities with Forged Irish Stout and the Proper 12 to deal with.

“Once that happens, I’ll be locked up. I’m still in shape, I’m still training, like I said, I’ve had camps in the off time, so if they just give me a date I’d love to go on I want to go June 29 and that will be a goal for me.”

But White – who saw the Cameroonian walk to the UFC to box – was not surprised to see order restored in the ring.

He said: “If Fury had trained for the fight and not turned up looking like he ate Tyson Fury, that fight probably would have ended too.

“Listen, you know how I feel about the crossovers in boxing – that’s just how they end up.”

It leaves his MMA future up in the air, but the heavyweight star insisted his future in the ring is not over.

O’Malley went to the body several times in the closing moments of the round before missing a straight telegraph.

O’Malley opened the second round with a high, spinning heel kick that hit the goal.

Vera surprisingly didn’t use the leg kicks he used to great effect during their first fight.

A partially blocked head kick from O’Malley caused a strong reaction from the crowd just after a minute and a half.

Vera came out aggressive early in the third, but left herself open to counters from the champion.

And his lack of footwork prevented him from consistently landing notable shots, although he did end the round with a good right hand.

Vera was urged again by his compatriots early in the fourth.

And their support prompted him to put his foot down gas and country one Nice knee as he aggressively closed the distance.

Vera managed to draw blood with a good straight left, but soon let his activity level drop again.

This allowed O’Malley to get back to work on the outside and land shots from distance.

Vera was urged by head coach Jason Parillo to empty the tank if he wanted to become his country’s first UFC title holder.

But a big right hand from the champion quickly put him in retreat mode and made him wary of any shots coming back.

For years, MMA fans around the world have wondered if the dynamic karate ace could compete with the best of the UFC’s welterweight division.

And they really got their answer when he produced a textbook performance against the fans’ favourite Holland – whom he defeated via unanimous decision – to introduce himself to casual fans around the world.

Page – who paid tribute to WWE icon The Undertaker during his octagon walk – tried to keep his distance at the early doors and used his signature snake-like move as he looked to read the American.

Holland had trouble with Page’s karate range and fell out with his strikes before securing a clinch against the fence.

Page managed to break free after a heavy blow and returned to his in-and-out style, resulting in him landing a beautiful jumping elbow.

A few seconds later, he stabbed Holland with an overhand jump right, which drew a big reaction from the crowd.

Holland managed to hit the fence again with a minute left in the round, but Page managed to break free and land another big right hand moments later.

And with seconds of the verse left, he rattled Holland’s dome with a beautiful spinning back elbow.

Page opened a proud two with a big spinning wheel kick, but Holland was wise to it.

The American landed his biggest shot of the fight – a solid right hand – seconds later, before briefly initiating another clinch.

Two chop rights landed for Page after another nice submission, but he soon found himself on his back after a slip allowed Holland to secure double underhooks.

Holland unleashed a flurry of elbows after a choke attempt, but Page defended them well before going into half-guard.

He used that guard to get back to his feet and then landed another right hand that opened a cut on Holland.

Two more jumping rights seemed to hurt Holland, who was clearly fooled by the Brit’s elusiveness.

Page reasserted his dominance immediately after the final restart of the fight with a beautiful one-two combo, but he left ‘Trailblazer’ back on his feet.

Holland quickly got hold of the London Shootfighters ace and briefly dragged him to the canvas, where he landed moments later after a stunning sweep.

Another nasty elbow landed moments later for MVP, opening a gash on the frustrated Holland, who failed to find a Hail Mary shot needed to get his hand up in the final minutes of the fight.

DUSTIN POIRIER proved there is still life in the old dog with a brutal stoppage of Benoit Saint-Denis.

The former interim lightweight champion returned to action on Saturday night against the rising Frenchman on a stacked UFC 299 card Miami.

MMA fans around the world were concerned about ‘The Diamond’ when the fight was announced after he suffered a nasty injury loss to Justin Gaethje last July.

But those concerns proved misplaced when he stopped the former Frenchmen army man in the second round of their Miami fight.

Saint-Denis immediately took the center of the octagon, where they exchanged hard leg kicks near the doors.

It didn’t take long for BDS to shoot for a takedown, which Poirier defended with a guillotine choke attempt.

The Frenchman remained calm and managed to roll out of position before taking the back of the fan favourite.

Saint-Denis refused to slow his pace, walking Poirier down and landing knees and elbows in the Thai clinch.

Saint-Denis shot for another takedown attempt with a minute and a half left, but found himself in the middle of another guillotine attempt, which he defended.

He managed to maintain his dominant position and eventually took the back of Poirier, who fended off a nasty looking armbar with seconds of the stanza left.

Poirier once again allowed Saint-Denis to dictate the pace of the opening stages of the second stanza, but dropped the former Army man with a short uppercut.

Saint-Denis shot for a takedown, which Poirier again defended with another guillotine attempt.

Saint-Denis escaped the bad position and had almost a minute of dominance before Poirier managed to get back on his feet.

BDS continued to come forward and found himself wobbled by a big, straight left hand.

Poirier felt blood and followed up with another hellish right that dropped the Bayonne bruiser, who fell to the canvas.

And he closed the show with an academic right that prompted referee Dan Miragliotta to halt proceedings.

The 45th President of the United States was at the Kaseya Center on Saturday evening to attend the promotion’s second trip to Miami in as many years.

Trump made a somewhat subdued entrance to the arena shortly after the main card’s first fight concluded.

He was flanked by Secret Service agents and UFC supremo Dana White as he made his way to his chair at the cage.

And he was greeted by huge cheers from fans when he appeared on the big screen.

Kid Rock’s “American Badass” blared from the speakers as the 77-year-old made his entrance.

Faint chants of “USA, USA, USA” then began to echo through the arena.

Fight fans watching at home were quick to comment on the raucous reception he received, with one person writing on X: “Holy Donald Trump in the house for UFC 299.”

Another said: “DONALD TRUMP WENT TO UFC 299 WITH DANA WHITE.

And another said: “We got a Donald Trump UFC 299 Walkout before GTA 6.”

Trump is no stranger to UFC events, having attended UFC 295 and UFC 296 in New York and Las Vegas last November and December respectively.

Fans took White’s words as a suggestion that McGregor will indeed headline the Las Vegas Sphere in September.
