Iran’s Vafaei, 29, came from 63-37 down in the final frame and only sealed the win on the final suit after O’Sullivan missed a routine black.

The Rocket, 48, is his own worst critic, rating his technique and execution over the past two years – since becoming king of Sheffield – as only “four or five out of ten”.

To win a record eighth world title this spring, O’Sullivan will engage in a friendly shootout.

He said: “It wasn’t intentional. Many things are fate.

“Usually the better player wins 99 times out of 100. This is how the match goes.

“He deserved his win, he played better snooker. Disappointingly I didn’t play well enough to win.

“I’m doing a number of exhibitions in Hong Kong. I’m coming back to China for a tour in May.

“I’m trying to figure out why I don’t feel good there when I play.

“I’m winning, I’m participating, but I’m not hitting the ball well. I think I play better when I know I’m doing more exhibitions.

“I’m learning to relax in front of a crowd. It’s difficult when you play matches against very good players all the time. You compete for ranking points.

ONE of the biggest announcements from the recent Nintendo Direct was that a new Star Wars game collection was on the way.

Although announced by Nintendo, it launched today (Thursday, March 14, 2024) on multiple platforms.

Thousands of Star Wars fans wanted to play the collection of games as quickly as possible and bought it as soon as it came out.

Since it cost £30/$35 for the double gaming pack called Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, people were excited to get into the game straight away.

The Battlefront games are online multiplayer games that require access to other users to play.

A total of 10,000 players attempted to access the game at launch, but the vast majority were unable to get into the game.

Rumor has it that the servers for the game were only built to support around 200 gamers at a time, meaning many users were unable to play.

Users have reported that the game is 63 GB in size, which is much larger than other games of the time.

It is theorized that this is because the company rushed the project and failed to compress the data.

Quick matches reportedly only last 2 minutes because the game cannot handle the larger number of players allowed.

Players have also complained about the game crashing, leading to general disappointment.

Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection has a rating of 21 on Steam, meaning only 21% of users are satisfied with their purchase.

Those who played for less than 2 hours can automatically get a refund through Steam, although the process is a little more difficult on other platforms.

If you want to read more about Steam, check out the free game that’s making a comeback.

A desperate rescue mission is underway for two people trapped underground after a mine collapse.

Emergency services are responding to reports of two people trapped in the Ballarat gold mine at Mount Clear, Ballarat, after it collapsed around 4.50pm on Wednesday.

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) and the Country Fire Authority have both sent “resources” to the scene, an FRV spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.

Ambulance Victoria also sent paramedics and an air ambulance to the collapsed mine.

“The situation is developing and further information will be provided as it becomes available,” read a statement from Victoria Police.

Emergency services are desperately trying to rescue two people trapped underground after the gold mine at the Indicator Lane site in Ballarat (pictured) collapsed on Wednesday afternoon.

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allen said she was “thinking of every worker and family affected by the event.”

“Tonight will be a long night for them and for the entire Ballarat community.”

The bushland surrounding the Ballarat Gold Mine has been extensively scoured by police and volunteers in the search for missing mother, Samantha Murphy.

The 51-year-old disappeared without a trace after leaving her home on Eureka Street in Ballarat East about 7am on February 4 for a run at Woowookrung Regional Park.

Mobile phone records show Ms Murphy arrived in Mount Clear about an hour later, where police allege she was murdered by 22-year-old Patrick Stephenson.

Police warned those involved in the search for Ms Murphy to be weary of the hundreds of abandoned mine shafts in the area, many of which have been left open.

Despite the massive search, the mother-of-three’s remains have yet to be located.

The network of mine shafts that make up the Ballarat Gold Mine has been operational since the 1850s, with some of the original shafts still in use.

A cave-in at the site trapped 27 miners about a kilometer underground at around 3:30 am on November 12, 2007.

All miners were recovered safely after being hoisted to the surface through a ventilation shaft at around 8am.

On Anzac Day the year before, Tasmanian miners Todd Russell and Brant Webb were trapped in a small cage 925 meters underground for two weeks after a rockfall at the Beaconsfield gold mine, northwest of Launceston.

While Mr. Russell and Mr. Webb triumphantly left the mine, their colleague Larry Knight had been killed in the initial collapse.

They were both able to join mourners at their colleague’s funeral – which had been postponed until they were released – on May 9.

More to come.

An influencer has sparked outrage online after apparently using a live crab in a photo shoot.

Images circulating on social media show a crab hanging in the air while being used in a photo shoot.

In the video, shared to Instagram, an apparently live crab can be seen dangling by its claw from a model’s shoe.

A photographer using professional equipment is seen crouching on the side of the road to take pictures of the crustacean hanging from the shoe.

The crab then falls to the ground with its claw stuck to the shoe and scurries away to the side of the sidewalk.

The model is then seen standing upright as the photographer walks over and uses his own foot to loosen the crab’s discarded claw from the shoe.

The influencer can be heard apparently saying “oh my God” repeatedly as the photos are taken, and squeaking after the claw is released.

Crabs can naturally release their own claws in response to stress, danger or injury as a defense mechanism, and can regrow their claws.

The video has sparked outrage on social media, with many labeling the apparent use of a live crab in the photoshoot as “cruel” and “disgusting.”

They accused the pair – whose identities are not known – of ‘animal cruelty’ and angrily said: ‘Humans are disgusting in their disrespect for other beings’.

A woman has sparked debate online after waiting 30 minutes for a virtual job interview while the recruiter never showed up.

Sragavi Pattanaik, a pre-med student at the University of Maryland, posted a TikTok joke about the situation she was in charge of @sragvipattanaik.

The clip has already been seen by more than 940,000 people, who flocked to the comments section to share their own experiences.

In the video, she filmed herself waiting for the Zoom call, laughing awkwardly as she stared at her laptop screen.

Alongside the clip, she wrote: ‘I’m stuck on a no-show interview for 30 minutes because I’m poor and desperate.’

Meanwhile, the video’s caption simply read: “Rough out here.”

But it seems like this is a common problem, as most viewers agreed with the student and used the comments to share their relatable experiences.

Someone commented: ‘I emailed after waiting 30 minutes and they replied with a rejection’.

A second wrote: ‘I went to a job interview where the manager was 2.5 hours late and I waited and she didn’t give me the job.’

Meanwhile, someone else advised, “After a few minutes, email the recruiter or coordinator!”

But Sragavi explained, “I did, that’s why I stayed the 30 minutes in case they saw it.”

Another curious viewer asked her to “drop the company name,” while someone else added that they would “email them and thank them for the job offer and ask what my start date would be.”

One angry job seeker joked, “The field is so ridiculous that I did an online job interview, got rejected, went to a hiring event for the same place a week later and got hired on the spot.”

Someone else wondered, “What if the interview is just to see what you would do if the interviewer doesn’t show up?”

Another disappointed person said: ‘I waited 45 minutes and emailed around the 20 minute mark and I was just completely confused. Not even an apology or anything.”

However, one commenter with a positive experience recalled, “Listen, I once waited in a lobby for three hours for an interview. Three hours.

“But I got the job, and because of that experience, I got a great job and now I can apply to medical school because I have a lot of PCH.”

Another agreed, writing, “I did this and got the job!”

But someone else advised: “Email after five minutes and if you don’t have a response after ten minutes, dip.”

Another viewer made light of the situation, joking: “Do you have the required 10 years of experience to join the zoom call?”

The debate comes just after a boss claimed that new university graduates in Britain have become so used to working from home that they are not even coming into the office for a job interview.

The post-lockdown work-from-home boom has seen employers downsize their premises, blaming ‘entitled’ and ‘quiet quit’ Gen Zers who have entered the world of work remotely and are reportedly resistant are against changing their habits.

Bosses have offered ridiculous perks such as pool tables and office animals to get staff to work, but a new poll shows they are seen as ‘useless’ by younger staff who want support and benefits directly linked to their personal development.

Research conducted in 2023 shows that younger workers who started their careers from their bedrooms during the coronavirus pandemic actually want to be with their colleagues – but only if they feel their work is worthwhile.

Other employers and experts say Gen Zers are dedicated workers at heart, but a generational shift in their attitude toward work means they want to be valued as employees before they make a habit of coming into the office.

A now thin Daniel, who has long-term health problems, did not tell the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) about the money.

His benefits were later stopped and he is now no longer eligible for income support, housing benefit and council tax relief, despite now having no money left.

The retiree collected the windfall in September 2017 and said it was all gone by November.

He is now desperate to get his benefits back.

Daniel said: “I didn’t know I had to tell the Department for Work and Pensions so I spent it all giving it to my two sons and my daughter, paid for two family holidays, refurbished my house and bought me clothes . and my wife.

“The money was all spent by November.

“In December I received a letter from the DWP saying I had to go to an appointment.

“They then told me I had been reported by the tax authorities because I had £80,000 in my bank.

“That was the case in September, but not when I went for a job interview. I had €7 overdrawn.

“Now they have stopped my benefits. The only income I have is my Personal Independence Allowance of £350 per month and a pension of £1.08 per week.

“I have to pay the full rent and council tax, so we have little to live on. My wife, who is my carer, gets £62 a week.

“She has to put that aside to pay other bills, such as gas, electricity and telephone.”

Wife Bridget added: “

“The DWP has said we are not entitled to any money. They say we have deprived ourselves of capital and are not eligible for the benefits.

“On the paperwork they ask about a change of circumstances, but they don’t specify what that means.

“We just don’t know what we’re going to do.”

Victims of the lottery ‘curse’

A LOT of us dream of winning big in the lottery, but what about when you actually do it? Isn’t it all flashy cars and glamorous photo shoots, and maybe the odd movie premiere? That wasn’t the case for this group, who – despite raking in millions of pounds – ended up in the hole.

Cocaine king

Self-styled King Of Chavs Michael Carroll wore an electronic anklet when he won £9.7million on the National Lottery in 2002.

He was 19 years old at the time and squandered his fortune on a six-bedroom country house in Norfolk, which he equipped with a swimming pool and a motor racing track.

His drug addiction caused Michael to spend £2,000 a day on cocaine, which ultimately left him destitute.

He previously said: “The dealer who introduced me to crack has more of my lottery money than I do.”

Michael’s wife Sandra left him just a month after their wedding in 2003 after being shocked by his incessant partying. She also accused him of cheating on her with sex workers and making off with £1.4 million in a settlement.

He spent time in prison for failing to comply with a drug treatment order and was declared bankrupt in February 2010 and claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance.

Michael was reportedly found working for £10 an hour chopping wood and delivering coal in 2019 after losing his entire fortune.

Surgery Queen

Jane Park became the youngest Briton ever to win the EuroMillions when she won the £1 million jackpot in 2013 at the age of 17.

At the time she won, she was a temporary worker earning £8 an hour, living in a two-bedroom flat in Edinburgh council that she shared with her mother Linda.

But things got worse when she felt ’empty’ after her win and spent £4.5k on a breast enlargement from 34B to 36FF and another couple of thousand on a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) in Turkey.

Jane feared for her life after suffering a severe reaction to anesthesia and contracting sepsis in 2017.

Two years later, she launched her OnlyFans to flash topless photos of herself, followed by more plastic surgery to get her ‘dream body’ with liposuction and a corrective BBL.

Now 28 and wiser, she believes winning the lottery cursed her life and wishes it never happened.

She hilariously calls herself the ‘B&M Molly-Mae’.

Love and loss

Gillian Bayford’s eight-year marriage was destroyed when she and ex-husband Adrian raised £148million at the EuroMillions in 2012.

Their lives changed overnight, putting so much strain on their relationship that it broke down completely 15 months after their victory.

Both Gillian, 50, and Adrian blamed the stress of their stunning victory for their split.

In the decade following their divorce, Gillian became a mother to another man at the age of 48, bought a £1.2 million mansion and started a property business.

“As far as [my daughter] worries I’m not a lottery winner, I’m just a mum,” Gillian told The Sun. “Some things are easier because of the money, but it doesn’t really change anything.

“You still have to change a diaper or deal with her being sick of you, no matter how much you’re worth.”

Since the war began, few aid trucks carrying food have reached the devastated northern Gaza Strip, causing a widespread hunger crisis.

The crisis reached a peak last week after the World Food Program, a United Nations agency, joined UNRWA, the UN agency serving Palestinians in Gaza, in halting aid shipments to the north, citing the overwhelming lawlessness that has taken hold in the area.

Scott Anderson, UNRWA deputy director for Gaza, said the chaos in the north has made it impossible for the organization to ensure aid reaches the right beneficiaries without harming those in need.

“How on earth can you know who got that flour? It’s just not possible,” he said, referring to incidents in which hundreds of trucks swarmed the north. “What we don’t want is for only the people who are younger and stronger to get food.”

UNRWA, short for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, Mr. Anderson said, was concerned that the aid could end up in the hands of militants or people seeking to profit at the expense of their fellow residents.

The last time UNRWA tried to bring trucks north was on February 5, but the agency said one came under fire. The most recent delivery to the area was on January 23. Before that, only 93 trucks arrived in January.

While humanitarian groups have warned in recent days that many Palestinians in the north were facing famine, Israel has allowed aid to be dropped in the area and some non-United Nations trucks to enter.

Israel’s bombing campaign and ground invasion have devastated the north, but also collapsed Hamas’s governance structure, creating anarchy. A small number of police from the Hamas-led security forces have arrived in Gaza City in recent weeks but have largely failed to restore law and order, residents said.

Footage posted on social media in recent months shows dozens of Palestinians surrounding trucks along the Gaza City beach, grabbing bags of flour and running back with them to the city’s residential areas. The trucks usually come from the south and enter the north via the north-south coastal road.

Desperate Palestinians in northern Gaza have turned to plundering the pantries of people who have fled and grinding livestock feed into flour. While makeshift markets offer some food, prices have risen astronomically. A 25-kilogram bag of flour costs $560, more than what many people in Gaza took home as monthly income before the war, Anderson said.

He said a solution to the current crisis would be for Israel to allow trucks from the border area in the north to enter northern Gaza, instead of allowing them to come from the south via the coastal road.

If trucks were brought into Gaza from a new entry point without alerting the public, it would be possible to get the aid to warehouses and distribute it widely. He added that consistently providing assistance thereafter would encourage the public to stop emptying trucks in the middle of the road.

“If we can bring in 100 trucks of flour, that would be enough to flood the market,” he said.

A terrifying video has emerged showing the panic inside a tourist helicopter as it went out of control before crashing in Colombia shortly after take-off.

The helicopter lost control and fell from the sky, crashing into the side of a tall building in Medellin on Monday.

All six people aboard the Bell 206 helicopter miraculously survived the ordeal.

One of the traumatized passengers was rushed to the hospital and treated for a broken leg and lacerations to the body, officials said.

Now new footage has revealed the chaos of passengers in the cabin as the helicopter spun through the air before finally plummeting to the ground.

Texas-based vacationer Francisco Salas, 36, hears emergency services calling in a combination of Spanish and English.

He also describes the scene to the camera, saying, “I had a helicopter crash.

“We are very high up and waiting for the police and the rescue team.”

After the crash, Francisco said, “I had a woman next to me with a lot of body weight who didn’t have the strength to support herself, so I put my arm around her.

“I used one arm to support myself against the helicopter while the other supported the woman for about 45 minutes.”

Salas, who was on the run with his girlfriend Luisa Osorio, went on to explain how he thought he was going to die.

He said: ‘I had my phone with me, I was on a video call with my mum and dad.

‘I even said goodbye to my brother, it was a very serious moment.

“I just wanted to say goodbye and thank everyone.”

The Texas businessman was one of six people on board the tourist helicopter at the time of the crash.

Joining him were two women from Costa Rica named Sandy Villalobos Marín, 34, and Karen Rivera Picada, 36, and Colombian nationals Luisa Fernanda Osorio and Jaime Andrés Echeverri.

Echeverri, the co-pilot, broke his leg.

The pilot was Brian Michel Álvarez, 32.

More than seventy emergency workers rushed to the scene and helped recover the travelers after the horrific crash.

Outside footage taken with a mobile phone emerged yesterday showing the plane taking off and then almost immediately starting to fall through the sky.

Luisa Osorio, Salas’ wife, told Colombian newspaper Noticias Caracol that they had joined the flight to record content for social media networks to promote her singing career and his YouTube channel and thought they would not make it out alive.

Osorio said, “We have moved on. When it went up, it literally couldn’t do it all the way.

“It started spinning, it started spinning really fast and we said, ‘We’re going to die here.’

Osorio recalled being ordered by rescuers “not to move, to do absolutely nothing, not to even breathe” as they worked to pull them out.

A viral TikTok video has captured the astonishing moment a stampede of desperate Taylor Swift fans flooded Sydney’s Accor Stadium after last-minute tickets were announced.

The clip, which was shot at Swift’s second show in Sydney on Saturday evening, shows hordes of ticketless Swifties rushing to the ticket booths after organizers announced the news over the loudspeakers.

A crowd of adults and children joined the chaos as others looked on in bewilderment.

“When they announce last minute tickets,” the users captioned the video.

Several users replied by commenting on how dangerous the scene looked, with one writing: ‘People about to be crushed.’

“That’s so dangerous,” agreed another.

Swift’s show on Saturday started as scheduled at 7:30 p.m. after storms caused delays to Friday’s concert.

The pop star went solo during the performance after her boyfriend Travis Kelce was in the audience on Friday night.

Kelce has already left to fly back to Las Vegas to continue partying with his Kansas City Chiefs teammates.

Kelce only landed in Sydney on Wednesday to meet his girlfriend and see her perform one of her Eras Tour shows.

TMZ claims the tight end is flying back to Las Vegas to continue partying with his teammates after winning the Super Bowl in Sin City earlier this month.

Kelce lands in Las Vegas Saturday morning after flying about 15 hours on a trip similar to Swift’s when she flew from Japan to Nevada for the Super Bowl.

A mother has made a plea against Taylor Swift after her daughter was hospitalized and will miss the pop star's current Australian tour.

Katie Healy from Innisfail, Queensland, took to Instagram this weekend to say her eight-year-old daughter Evelyn was flown to Townsville University Hospital last week after suffering from streptococcus pneumoniae and empyema.

Although the young girl is recovering well, it is certain that she will miss the concert in Sydney.

Katie took the opportunity to reach out to the global megastar as she shared images from her sick daughter's hospital room.

'If there's a way [Taylor] maybe could find the time to send a little video to Evie, or just a comment on my message, it would mean the absolute world to a little girl who now has to spend her lifelong Eras Tour experience in hospital,' she started.

The mother went on to explain that she purchased the tickets for Evelyn and her sister Bethany in June of last year.

Over the past eight months, the family had diligently prepared costumes, learned all the songs and discussed the concert.

“Talking about the era we wanted to dress up in and all the possibilities was a lot of fun,” she continued, before adding, “It's been months in the planning.”

The Queensland mum has also encouraged Swifties to post her daughter's story widely, hoping the star will see the message.

Many Swifties offered their support in the comments of the post, with one writing: “Sending hugs and support for the mission for Taylor Swift.”

“Hope you get a video from Taylor soon,” another added, while someone else noted, “Come on Taylor, save the day!”

“Hope TS can pull through xx,” wrote another.

“The Swiftie community is incredibly kind and beautiful,” Ms Healy said in response.
