My boyfriend has a crush on Joey Lawrence 95. It’s weird.’ I thought, ‘Yeah, it’s weird. It’s a bit strange. Thank you for making me feel super old while watching my face fall apart in every interview I’ve ever done.’”

Lawrence has been acting since the early 1980s, most notably in films like Give me a break!, Blossom And Brother love. As he grew up and continued to act, he also took on a new role in real life as a doting girl daddy. Lawrence shares daughters Charleston, 18, and Liberty, 14, with ex-wife Chandie Yawn Nelson and daughter Dylan, 13 months, with wife SAmantha Cope.

While it’s admittedly strange that Charleston and Liberty’s friends have come to find 1995’s Joey Lawrence adorable, the actor thinks it’s “great” that they’re interested in his past projects.

“I think with the resurgence of the 1990s and the whole idea that we’re going to come together and do this Blossom Again, I think it’s really turned off a lot of interest from my kids and their friends,” Lawrence added, alluding to a possible reboot with Costar Mayim Bialik. “And then they like the ‘Brotherly Love’ pod, which is crazy because Mat [Lawrence] And Andy [Lawrence] and I did this as a joke to keep us busy when the whole industry shut down, so no one did anything for two years.

Joey and his younger brothers co-host one Brother love recap show, which has become one of the most popular podcasts.

“To see this thing blow up and end up in the top 50 of all pods is crazy. It’s really wild,” Joey joked. “So that’s been a whole new community and fan base that never [knew us].”

He continued, “I was at the market about a week ago… and this cool guy came up to me and said, ‘Hey, you’re that podcaster.’ I mean, no joke, that’s it. He had no idea about anything [I’ve done] except the capsule and my daughters friends watch it. It’s very, very interesting. This new world we live in, man, I’m glad it’s still going strong so I can wake up every day and enjoy it. It’s a blessing, but it’s weird.”

Joey, who emphasized that there is nothing like being a father to a girl, also prioritizes their oral hygiene with Listerine Clinical Solutions products.

A woman has spoken out about why she wasn’t invited to her friend’s wedding despite attending the bachelor party and spending thousands of dollars.

Amy Dickinson, 30, from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, shared a photo from the bachelorette party on Instagram before her now former best friend did.

Despite being best friends for more than five years, the bride-to-be soon dumped Amy from her wedding, claiming she broke an ‘unspoken’ rule.

Amy said: ‘I really don’t know why I wasn’t invited. Maybe she was just looking for a reason to rescind the invitation from me and I’ve never spoken to her since this happened.”

In preparation for a long-awaited weekend and the wedding she was planning to attend; Amy had paid out more than $2,500.

After getting glammed up for the bachelorette party, which was held on Hamilton Island, the mood took an unexpected turn after Amy unknowingly broke a rule when she shared a photo from the party and was quickly slammed for it – despite others doing the same.

The bride’s mother also got involved, claiming she should have known about the rule without being told.

After a heated argument, Amy was reportedly kicked out of her hotel room and feared she would not have access to her plane tickets to travel back home.

Shortly after the hen weekend, Amy was relieved to discover she had not been invited to the wedding as the thought of spending any more time with the bride would be a ‘nightmare’.

Amy has since blocked almost everyone she was at the bachelorette party with on social media and never spoke to them again.

Of her ‘horror story’, Amy said: ‘Overall it was a horrible experience that left me traumatised.

Why tech companies aren’t your friends: lessons from Roku

This month, many of the 80 million owners of Roku devices, including streaming sticks, set-top boxes and Internet-connected TVs running the company’s streaming software, turned on their Rokus to see a block of text. I, the owner of a cheap Roku TV in my bedroom, was one of those stuck with the screen.

The message included updated terms of service that made it more difficult for customers to take legal action against the company. Unless they agreed, users were blocked from accessing the Roku menu and apps, essentially bricking their devices. The only way to unsubscribe was to send a letter to the company.

To Isaac Phillips, a software engineer in Tampa, Florida, this felt unfair. So he came up with a solution to disconnect his Roku TV from the internet and use it as a normal TV without Roku’s apps, including Netflix, Hulu and other streaming services.

“It should belong to whoever paid for it,” Mr Phillips said. “It just doesn’t seem right to completely exclude anyone from it. It’s quite unacceptable.”

Also this month, Roku announced a security breach involving approximately 15,000 user accounts. The victims’ login credentials were illegally obtained through a breach of another company’s servers and were used to access Roku accounts to purchase streaming subscriptions, according to Roku.

“Like many companies, Roku updates its terms of service from time to time,” the company said in a statement, adding that the change was not related to the breach.

Roku’s bad month sparked debate in online forums about what it means when a company can essentially deactivate the device you paid for. That’s similar to how companies like Apple, Google and Microsoft may decide to stop issuing software updates for older devices, causing a gradual decline in performance.

It is a lesson we must learn and relearn. Companies, even those that say they strive to please us and improve our lives, are catering to their own interests. In reality, the tech products we buy may evolve to continue to protect those interests – and the hoops we have to jump through to gain some control are often impractical. Here’s a reminder of what you need to remember.

We don’t really own our tech products

When we bought a TV over ten years ago, it was just that: a big screen to which you could connect anything you wanted. Today, the vast majority of TVs connect to the internet and run the manufacturer’s operating system and apps. Even though you purchased the TV, the software component, which is a major part of what makes the product work, remains under the company’s control.

Changes to the product’s software interface and data collection practices may occur at any time. In extreme cases, a device can stop working. For example, in 2020, Amazon deactivated the Echo Look, a camera that helped people organize their closets. It gave owners a promotional credit to buy another Amazon gadget that lacked similar features.

The less extreme, more common situation is when companies stop supporting older products because they need to sell new gadgets. For example, Apple’s original Apple Watch from 2015 no longer receives software updates and now barely works anymore.

This problem isn’t new, but has become more problematic as more of our devices rely on apps and internet connections, says Nathan Proctor, director of the US Public Interest Research Group, a consumer advocacy organization. Computers allowed consumers to customize their machines by installing a different operating system. But many other types of electronics with locked-down software systems, from streaming devices to ebook readers, typically don’t allow for those adjustments.

“If you get to the heart of it, do you still own it?” he said.

Consumers have no protection

In a nutshell, Roku’s terms of service have long required customers to resolve any legal disputes through a private forum, the process known as mandatory arbitration, which can prevent consumers who share the same complaints from banding together to file lawsuits. The updated terms added language protecting the company from so-called mass arbitrations, in which attorneys could file hundreds of thousands of individual arbitration claims, a tactic to fight back against arbitration clauses.

Mandatory arbitration clauses have become an industry standard. The terms of service for companies including Sony PlayStation, Vizio and Hulu contain similar language about arbitration, and those companies also require consumers to send a letter opting out of those terms.

Roku customers can opt out of the revised terms and continue using their products, but the process is not intuitive. First, they must click the “agree” button on the terms of service screen. They must then send a letter requesting to opt out of the terms, along with a copy of the sales receipt for their Roku product, within 30 days to Roku’s General Counsel at 1701 Junction Court, Suite 100, San Jose, California 95112.

Also a Roku spokesperson gave a list of steps for those who want to use their Roku TVs as normal TVs without an internet connection. It means pressing a button or hole on the back of the TV to reset the software and skipping the internet connection setup step.

Why is it harder to unsubscribe than to log in? Because the companies are legally allowed to do this.

I suggest Roku customers follow these steps to opt out of the new terms and hold on to what little power they have. For example, I took this opportunity to disconnect my Roku TV from the Internet and connect another streaming device with less onerous terms, an old Apple TV. As for an opt-out letter: I plan to use the AI chatbot ChatGPT to draft a sharp note.

Separately, Roku customers who have been particularly vulnerable in recent weeks have been the 15,000 affected by a cyber attack known as ‘credential stuffing’. Hackers obtained usernames and passwords leaked elsewhere and reused them to log into Roku accounts. The lesson here is to create a strong, unique password for every Internet account you own, and never use it for any other site.

The fine print: tech companies are not our friends

Like many tech companies, Roku has marketed itself as a company that puts consumers’ interests first. The website, adorned with wholesome photos of families watching TV, invites you to join the millions of people saving money by cutting the cord. The streaming devices, including the $20 Streaming Stick and the $290 55-inch TV, are also relatively cheap.

But every successful company exists to make money, not make friends, and Roku’s aggressive actions this month should make that crystal clear.

With Roku and similar low-cost streaming products like Google’s $30 Chromecast and Amazon’s $40 Fire TV Stick, you largely subsidize the purchase of the product by sharing your data with advertisers, says Jen Caltrider, a director at Mozilla who investigates companies’ privacy policies.

But Roku is a bigger offender, as it collects far more information than is necessary to provide a device running streaming apps, including information about your work, education and religious beliefsshe said.

“Their privacy policy is a shining example of a terrible privacy policy for a consumer,” Ms. Caltrider said. “They are a data cleansing company.”

But James Argent has revealed a secret he keeps from his family and friends after losing a bet during a wild but down-to-earth night out in Mallorca.

Speaking about the My dirty laundry podcastJames, 36, said that although he now considers himself the most ‘boring’ of all his friends, that doesn’t stop him from having a moment every now and then.

He said: ‘No one has ever noticed or noted it, but this is probably the wildest thing I’ve done in the last few years.

‘I was laughing with a group of people on a night out in Mallorca, and we were all talking about tattoos. And then there was a bit of daring and betting.

Speaking on the My Dirty Laundry podcast, James said that although he now considers himself the most ‘boring’ of all his friends, he had done something that no one has ever seen

“I can’t really go into details, but I lost.”

He continued, “I always promised myself I would never get one because I’m not a tattoo person.

‘But I lost the nerve and the bet and I had to, you know, I went and got a little tattoo when I was in Mallorca.’

James, a wedding singer in The Arg Band, held his wrist to the camera and revealed the small treble clef symbol he had inked, paying tribute to his singing career and love of music.

He said: ‘It’s just a small one, you can hardly see it, it looks like a musical note. That’s as wild as it gets.

“It wasn’t that painful, it wasn’t that bad, but it was funny. It gives me a great memory of performing in Mallorca, so it’s something I can laugh about.

‘But I wouldn’t have done that again. I’m actually quite happy with this because I think it’s quite cool, well, it’s totally me. Maybe I have something similar on the other wrist. Don’t know.’

James is currently traveling between Spain and Britain with his singing career and he said he is incredibly proud of his band.

“The musicians in my band are world-class musicians and we take it very seriously. People are shocked at how strong the bond is. I’m just very proud of what we have achieved in recent years.

A WEDDING guest has shocked people by turning up to the ceremony in a long dress, with people saying she threatened to put the bride on stage.

Many people know that the first rule of going to a wedding is: don’t wear white and the dress was dangerously light in color.

One of the other guests shared photos of the stunning dress, which had a high leg slit.

The top part of the dress had a corset-style fit, with small straps, while the pale fabric was decorated with sequins.

They continued writing Reddit: “Saw an acquaintance at a wedding last night. Still shocked by what she was wearing.

“The theme was formal.”

The dress was so long that it had a train, which made it look even more bridal.

However, the friend revealed that the woman planned to take it a step further and wear a large tulle skirt on top.

Ultimately, she opted for the look, which would have looked even more like a wedding dress.

People were quick to share their thoughts on the dress.

The pregnant fiancee of a British police officer killed in an engagement party accident has had her world ‘shattered’, friends say, as neighbors describe hearing people having fun… and then screams of horror

The pregnant fiancée of a British-born police officer who died at his engagement party in Australia has been left “shattered”, her friends said, as neighbors described hearing their party suddenly give way to blood-curdling screams.

Liam Trimmer, 29, and his fiancée Lilly Watts threw a party at their home in Perth, Western Australia, on Sunday night, which continued into Monday morning.

In addition to celebrating their engagement, the couple also announced to loved ones that they were expecting their first child.

But the happy moment ended in tragedy when Mr Trimmer fell and severed a carotid artery in his neck, killing him almost instantly.

Mrs Watts – who is 14 weeks pregnant – was photographed on Wednesday during a short outing with her family. She told Daily Mail Australia that her “soulmate” fiancé “will always be the love of my life and our baby will know what an amazing man he was.”

The party continued late into the night when – around 1am – Mr Trimmer, who moved to Australia from Britain as a teenager, fell.

Mrs Watts is a nurse and the guests at the party consisted largely of police officers and healthcare workers who did everything they could to save his life.

However, his injuries were too serious and he could not be saved.

The Watts family were spotted walking their dog on the local streets on Wednesday, with the young mum-to-be wearing her engagement ring.

Ms Watts told Daily Mail Australia of her grief, saying her fiancé was ‘really excited to be a father’.

“I have never known love like Liam and this heartbreak and emptiness is so overwhelming,” she said. “He will always be the love of my life and our baby will know the wonderful man he was.”

Earlier that day, Mel Kelly, a close friend of Ms. Watts, created one GoFundMe page to raise money for the single mother.

The appeal raised more than $110,000 Australian dollars (£56,000) in less than 24 hours, and as of Thursday had raised more than $125,000 AUD (£64,000).

Ms Kelly wrote: ‘Lilly’s world was shattered by a freak accident that claimed the life of her beloved fiancé.

‘The evening was intended to be a joyful celebration of Lilly and Liam’s recent engagement and the announcement of their pregnancy, a huge milestone in their journey together.

‘Friends and family gathered to share in their happiness. In a cruel turn of events, Liam’s life was cut short, leaving a void that can never be filled.”

She said Mrs Watts had lost her ‘soulmate’, who now faces the prospect of raising her child alone while juggling living costs.

Ms Watts’ mother, Channy Watts, declined to comment on the tragedy when contacted on Thursday.

Neighbors have since described hearing the party from their homes, and how loud music was suddenly interrupted by shouting.

A neighbor said: ‘We don’t know what happened but they were outside and one of the boys turned on a megaphone at 1am, the music was loud, then the shouting and then nothing. We heard screams coming from girls – like gigantic, high-pitched screams.

‘We thought maybe something had happened. Maybe someone fell or got hurt.”

Another said the music was so loud she considered calling the police to file a noise complaint, before the party ended abruptly.

She said: ‘I’m new to the area so I didn’t want to be a party pooper but it was almost 1am on Monday morning, it sounded like there were over 50 people there.’

An elderly couple who live across the street from Ms Watts and Mr Trimmer said they also heard noise from the party and were initially relieved when it was over.

“We didn’t think much about it, but we did notice that the police left the next day with a van full of stuff,” the woman said.

Mr Trimmer was originally from Britain but moved to Australia in 2013 and joined the police force.

His career began at the WA Police Academy in Joondalup and featured in the British TV series ‘Wanted Down Under’, where he gave teenagers advice about life in Australia before migrating.

He later joined the gang and the tactical response group.

He held various posts while in the force, including in regional parts of the state, and took part in ‘Movember’ with officers from Kalgoorlie Police Station.

In the days following his death, friends and colleagues took to social media to pay tribute to Mr Trimmer.

A friend described him as ‘possibly the strongest guy’ in a local trekking group.

“Great sense of humor and a passion to excel,” they wrote.

“In my opinion, society cannot afford to lose guys like Liam [who had] the courage to go into the oven every day and deal with the ‘tough side of police work’.

“The boys are sore this week, but they have continued with major training and domestic operations.”

Another friend replied, “He was like that from day one [police] academy – you couldn’t help but not like him.”

A third person wrote: “It’s been a sad few days at the office.”

‘Lots of hugs and lots of tears. But… the boys continue with it and get stuck in their training. Hopefully it’s a good distraction.’

Speaking to a local radio station, Police Commissioner Col Blanch described Mr Trimmer as a ‘deeply loved’ and respected officer with ‘his whole life ahead of him’.

“I know that if my phone rings early in the morning from a senior officer, it’s usually not good news, and tragically it wasn’t,” he said.

“I know everyone involved is really hurting right now, and I think they wish they could just wake up from this nightmare.”

The cause of the accident has not been confirmed.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
