Saoirse Ronan revealed that she was cast in the Barbie movie, but a scheduling conflict led to her having to leave the film.

The actress shared the role she would play in the blockbuster during an interview in the cinema Variation studio presented by Audible at the Sundance Film Festival.

“I would definitely become a weird Barbie,” she said. 'I don't know how to take that. I would have been with Kate McKinnon, so that would have been nice. I had a scene, but I never got to do it, and it wasn't in the movie.

Saoirse – who is extremely proud of being Irish – was asked what the scene would be and she admitted she wasn't quite sure.

“It was weird,” she said. 'I think I would be the strange girl who talked to herself and always had her dog with her, always talking to the dog and not looking at anyone.

The Mary Queen of Scots star goes way back with Barbie director and co-screenwriter Greta Gerwig, 40.

She starred in the director's 2017 film, playing the main character, who was based on Gerwig as a teenager.

Gerwig has previously admitted that she would like to reprise the character of Ronan in Lady Bird, and the Lovely Bones actress responded positively to the idea.

'She's based on Greta, so she makes Barbie? Don't know. When we were making the film, we talked about how we'd like to revisit it,” she explained.

'I heard she's starting to talk about it. I'll do anything to her as long as she has me.”

The Little Woman star is at Sundance to premiere her new film Outrun, which is based on Amy Liptrot's novel of the same name.

“I delivered seven lambs,” she proudly told Variety. 'That was very scary. I didn't know if I was going to kill the lamb as I pulled them out.”

'A few years ago we were in lockdown and he said, 'You have to read this because this is the role you have to play.' “I immediately fell in love with Amy's writing and how she captured the struggle against addiction,” she told the outlet.

She also talked about the challenges of playing a role based on a real person you actually know.

'You have the feeling that there is a great responsibility on your shoulders. We delve into her relationships with her family and friends, some of whom she lost along the way. To protect that and at the same time still show her life authentically, it was initially difficult to find the balance.'
