From getting picked up in the pouring rain in Milan to taking a helicopter ride over Central Park, this American woman traveling the world in search of love has certainly had her fair share of interesting dates.

Anne Marie Hagerty began a “global search” to find her husband two years ago after splitting from a man she thought she was “going to marry.”

Since then, she has visited 25 countries, exploring the dating scene in each country and collecting anecdotes such as souvenirs. She posts her dating adventures on her TikTok account (@annemariehagerty), where she has amassed 50,000 followers.

The 28-year-old spoke to MailOnline Travel about her international encounters and shared details about the most romantic spots and places that failed to capture her heart.

Before her dating quest, Anne Marie was certainly no stranger to travel. She moved from a small town in North Carolina to New York, has flown everywhere from Japan to Panama, and even lived in India when she was 18. But, she said, dating abroad opened her eyes to a “whole different side” of travel. .

The most romantic places, she claimed, are New York, Italy and Croatia. Anne Marie described New York as her “number one” place so far. And said it’s a “big part” of why she moved there.

She explained: ‘The serendipity of the city is magical, plus the fact that you are surrounded by millions of people, but when you find one special person it feels like you are living in a super romantic movie.

“I love grand romantic gestures and unique experiences, and New York is the best place in the world to make those things happen. For example, I scheduled a meeting with a man to fly in a helicopter with doors over the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and Central Park.”

And Italy also left her swooning with delight. There she experienced one of her ‘best dates’. In Milan, Anne Marie was picked up by a stranger in the pouring rain. “He walked up to me and said, ‘I think you’re beautiful, I’d like to take you out to dinner,’” she said.

Lake Como was another passionate place. She said it is “hands down the most romantic place I have ever been in my life.” But overall, she claimed it was difficult to find dates in Italy.

Meanwhile, Croatia, she said, was just as romantic and easier to meet people than Italy. She explained: ‘It has the charms of Italy, with a more off the beaten track feel. And people were generally friendlier and open to dating early on.”

Although not as romantic as some places she has visited, Anne Marie said London was one of her favorite places so far.

ANNE MARIE HAGERTY’S DATING EXCLUSIONS BY COUNTRY

NEW YORK: ‘Being surrounded by millions of people, but finding one special person feels like living in a super romantic adventure movie.’

ITALY: ‘Lake Como is without a doubt the most romantic place I have ever been in my life. It’s literally in the air.’

CROATIA: ‘Has the charms of Italy with a more off-the-beaten-path feel – and people were generally more friendly/open to dates early on.’

MEXICO: ‘I’ve had a lot of machismo experiences with guys who were quite chauvinistic and pushy.’

BELIZE: ‘I met some great expat friends, but many of the locals I met gave off the air of a big player.’

SWITZERLAND: ‘The men are friendly and kind, but isolated.’

ARGENTINA: ‘The men are so exaggerated and aggressive, almost like a love bombing.’

LONDON: ‘The men are an interesting combination of weird, stylish, reserved and chivalrous.’

She found an ‘interesting combination of men’ in the British capital, and wAlthough she had some “weird encounters,” she said most were “sweet, reserved and quite chivalrous.”

What made it stand out? She said: ‘There is a sense of global connectedness and the ability to connect with the world in some way.

‘There’s something sweet about British culture for me too. There’s tea, there’s Sunday roasts, it’s just very sweet and very family oriented.”

But Anne Marie was not impressed by the places she visited. She said Colombia is an “amazing country” with “cool food” but the dating scene is “not for me.”

She explained, “There’s a little bit of this throughout Latin America, but it’s a very machismo culture that I don’t buy into.” Mexico was another place where she found men “quite chauvinistic and pushy.”

She also struggled to connect with men in Switzerland, where she said it was “difficult to get to know people more deeply.”

She added: ‘I discovered that Swiss people are more isolated and tend to stay within their group. I respect it and they are very nice, but they are not the most welcoming to newcomers.”

While Anne Marie visited dozens of countries with the intention of finding a husband, she has not yet found one.

For now, she’s enjoying the process, meeting new people and exploring connections without “high expectations.”

A nine-year-old boy who spent years of his life battling recurring brain tumors is now climbing to the top of Mount Everest to raise money for charity.

Arthur Middleton, from Lincolnshire, had a difficult start to life when he was born prematurely at 26 weeks in 2014.

Just before his third birthday, Arthur’s parents, Claire and Henry, noticed that he was having seizures, feeling nauseous, slurring his words and losing the use of his right hand.

After an MRI scan, the couple was then told that their son had a brain tumor the size of a golf ball.

‘It’s every parent’s worst nightmare. You just go into overdrive and think about what it means,” Claire, 41, told MailOnline.

They were then blue-lit to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, in 2017, where he underwent a successful operation and the family would move to North Carolina in January that year.

After learning to walk again, Arthur had a scan in December and the family were told the tumor had returned to the size of a ping-pong ball.

Ex-lawyer Claire said this was ‘quite unusual’ for a low-grade tumor as it was quite ‘aggressive’. Arthur then underwent another operation to remove this tumor as they crossed the pond.

The parents were then told that despite two operations to remove the tumor, it continued to grow back and that the next step was to try chemotherapy.

But after five months it stopped working.

Claire and Henry, who work in finance, then found a clinical trial in America and managed to get Arthur enrolled in it.

“We put him on medication that is actually like a targeted therapy because his tumor cells have a certain genetic mutation and we were fortunate that they were testing different genetic mutations,” the stay-at-home mom said. .

‘Luckily he has one of the genetic mutations that one of the drugs targets, so we confronted him about that in America.’

Arthur remained in the trial for two years and within the first few months the size of the tumor had reduced by 80 percent.

Over the next few years on this drug, Arthur was completely stable.

The family said it was their “worst nightmare” to hear their son had a brain tumor

But after the trial was completed, he had to stop taking the medication and the tumor started growing again.

Claire said the family were able to access this drug after a difficult time when they returned to Britain in early 2022.

“He continues to take that and it’s kept everything stable for five years now and he takes it every day,” Claire said.

“He goes to school and his immune system isn’t compromised or anything. We are fortunate that we are currently in a stable situation.

‘Now that we’ve learned more about it, we feel like we’re one of the lucky ones to have been diagnosed with low grade.

‘Even though it was very large when they found it and it had long-term health consequences for him, we’re lucky it’s low quality.’

‘His journey to the brain tumor has been very difficult and it is still a bit ongoing. I don’t think we have any illusions that we are one of the lucky ones.’

Now Arthur is raising money for The Brain Tumor Charity by climbing Mount Everest – a whopping 8,849 metres.

Although he has a weakness on the side of his body, it hasn’t stopped him from achieving his goal of raising awareness about brain tumors.

‘[I’m] honestly so proud. He had been talking about doing this for a while and we were worried that he wouldn’t be able to do it physically as it is still a challenge.

‘But we were talking about New Year’s resolutions with the family and he said, ‘I’m going to climb the mountain to raise money.’

‘It’s great as a mother to see how proud and how successful he is in what he does. He struggles academically at school and with sports.

“He’s not going to be team captain, but this is his thing and he’s very proud of himself.

‘He’s finding it difficult because we’re climbing in some pretty challenging weather conditions at the moment, but he’s determined and won’t give up.’

Arthur has spent his spare time climbing several mountains including Whernside, Buckden Pike and Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales and Thorpe Cloud in the Peak District.

Claire said her son also went outside and climbed when Storm Isha hit Britain.

‘I think that was quite a challenge for him and he was talking about the wind and the rain at the top.

What are the symptoms of a brain tumor?

‘I think he found it quite frightening. But when he reached the bottom he was very proud of himself for doing it and now he is proud to tell everyone that he climbed that. [during] Storm Isha.’

He has currently reached 2,500 million with around 6,349 million to go and has raised almost £6,000 for charity so far.

Claire says he likes to update his regularly Instagram page on his progress.

Arthur usually walks up mountains with members of his family, but since then he has had peers from his school willing to join him on his journey.

His school also held a fundraising day where students and teachers wore hats and donated to his cause.

Claire and Henry are going on a climb in April with some of Arthur’s teachers and friends.

An American mum has revealed how she ditched deodorant and instead rubbed fruit on her armpits to keep body odor at bay.

Chelsey Pleasant, a 34-year-old fitness instructor from North Carolina, started using lemons to maintain personal hygiene after one of her personal training clients recommended it.

She was pregnant with her second child at the time and struggled to keep the sweat to a minimum, but the citrus worked so well that she hasn’t looked back since.

She shared a video on Instagram of herself preparing the lemon and applying it to her armpits, encouraging others to give the hack a try.

The controversial clip has been viewed more than 200,000 times, with commentators divided over whether it is a good idea or not.

An American mum has revealed how she ditched deodorant and instead rubbed fruit on her armpits to keep BO at bay

Chelsey admitted: “Some people think I’m crazy, some people want to try it.

‘My husband, Cameron, just thinks it’s too hippie. He gets weird when I take out a container of lemon wedges to rub my armpits.”

However, she stands by the choice, claiming it “works best” for her. Chelsey has been wearing the lemon scent for about two years now and swears by it.

She added: ‘I don’t smell at all, it works very well. I haven’t had any adverse side effects – unless I apply it straight after shaving, which stings for a minute.

‘The theory is that the citric acid kills the bacteria that cause the odor.

‘I’ve tried many natural deodorants and many other suggestions. I haven’t worn aluminum deodorants since 2019 after I had my first child, so I’ve tried a lot of things.

“I can apply this in the morning before my workout, and then again after I shower, and I have no adverse effects.”

‘Cameron admits it works [but] he still thinks it’s weird. He also wears natural deodorants, but they work much better for him.’

One user commented: ‘My pits are burning just looking at this…I’m not saying I won’t try it next time I have a lemon though.’

Another user said: ‘I was literally waiting for the sting to come in for the punchline because what is it anyway.’

Another user added: ‘Omg don’t go out in the sun. You’ll burn your burns straight away.’

Meanwhile, someone else warned: ‘Oh, no hippie parenting flashback. This caused me to burn my armpits when I was 14 and now I have discolored armpits.’

Another said: ‘But then if you lie in the sun with your armpits exposed they will burn and stain! Citrus and sun are not a good combination!’

But other viewers were intrigued to try it out for themselves, with one commenting: ‘I’m going to try this! I’ve tried everything you mentioned, but without success.’

Another user added: ‘My Mexican mom would do this and you can also use it as a hairspray and it holds the hair.’

Others agreed: ‘Do this! This is how I detoxed my armpits. The best ever” and “Same! I’ve tried so many natural deodorants but it doesn’t last… lemons work!’

Donald Trump moved closer to a rematch with Joe Biden in November when he defeated Nikki Haley, his last rival for the Republican nomination, on Super Tuesday.

The former president, 77, dominated the biggest day of primaries. He won 11 states by 9:30 p.m., leaving the former South Carolina governor’s dreams of the White House hanging by a thread.

Trump quickly won overwhelming victories in the states of Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Maine, Alabama, Massachusetts, Arkansas, Texas, Colorado and Minnesota.

Haley is still clinging to a glimmer of hope in Vermont, where she is neck-and-neck with Trump with about half the votes counted.

Elsewhere, she didn’t come close as Trump, the runaway Republican frontrunner, headed full steam ahead into the November general election.

The results of Super Tuesday cemented his absolute control over the Republican Party and led to increasing calls for Haley to quit the race.

Meanwhile, Biden is making gains on the Democratic side as polls close across the country. He faces only token opposition for his party’s presidential nomination.

And Trump’s string of victories on Tuesday night will make it virtually impossible mathematically for Haley to catch the former president.

Tuesday’s elections will award more than a third of Republican delegates — and more than 70% of the number needed to secure the nomination.

Haley pledged to stay in the race until the Super Tuesday contests but has made no other promises, and her campaign has no public events planned on Tuesday or beyond.

She is at her home in South Carolina and will not make any public comments. Trump is expected to address supporters at Mar-a-Lago later Tuesday evening.

Biden will be kept informed of the election results by his staff throughout the night, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.

Both the Biden and Trump camps are preparing for a rematch, tooThe earliest nominations for his party are March 12 for Trump and March 19 for Biden.

But after Tuesday, the battle for the general election will effectively begin. Both men are ready.

“We have to beat Biden — he’s the worst president in history,” Trump told Fox & Friends on Tuesday.

“If we lose this election, you’re going to come back to Donald Trump,” Biden said on the DeDe in the Morning radio show in North Carolina. “The way he talks, the way he acted, the way he treated the African-American community, I think it’s a disgrace.”

However, voters appear unenthusiastic about a repeat of the 2020 election, which Biden won and Trump wrongly claimed victory. Polls show that a majority of voters wanted an option other than Biden or Trump.

So now each campaign will have to focus on rallying their supporters and convincing independent voters to come to the polls this November.

And the candidates will hit the road to make their case to the American people.

On Saturday, Biden and Trump will hold separate campaign events in Georgia, a critical battleground state. No interaction is expected from them.

Biden became the first Democrat since Bill Clinton to win Georgia in 2020. Trump was convinced he had won the country and now faces federal and state charges over his efforts to overturn the results there.

Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks star Captain Charlie Griffin reportedly died in a boating accident on Monday.

The reality TV star with his dog Leila at the time of the wreck that claimed both their lives near Pea Island in Dare County, North Carolina.

The announcement was made on Facebook this week.

“It is with the deepest sadness that we report that Charlie Griffin and his beloved dog, Leila, died today, March 4, in a boating accident,” the note said.

“Please keep family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. We will remember Griff forever!’

The U.S. Coast Guard also posted about Charlie’s death.

“On the morning of 4/3/24, the US Coast Guard received a report of an overdue vessel en route from Virginia to Wanchese, NC,” the statement began.

‘The 35’ ship was subsequently located off Pea Island and the body of Charles Griffin Jr (Charlie Griffin) of Wanchese, NC and his (deceased) dog were recovered near the same land.

“The ship appears to have capsized somewhere near Oregon Inlet.

‘Officers are still searching for a second occupant who was on board the ship.

“North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is leading the ongoing investigation, along with assistance from officers from US Fish and Wildlife, National Park Service, NC Marine Fisheries, Dare County Sheriff’s Office and the US Coast Guard.”

Former President Donald Trump dismissed President Joe Biden’s border plan as a “conspiracy” to destabilize the United States during a rally on Saturday evening.

The campaign event in Richmond, Virginia, drew thousands of enthusiastic Trump fans to the Commonwealth’s capital. Supporters of the former president came from across the state and lined the blocks surrounding the convention center hours before he was to deliver a speech.

Shortly after taking the stage to loud applause, the former president turned his attention to Biden and his “open border policy.”

“Biden’s behavior at our border is, by definition, a conspiracy to overthrow the United States of America,” Trump told the crowd

“They dump their prisoners in our country, doesn’t this stupid guy understand that?”

Former President Donald Trump blasted President Joe Biden for his “open border policy” and for calling migrants “newcomers.”

President Joe Biden’s administration recently referred to migrants as “newcomers” in an official White House press release

“You know what they call them, newcomers!” Trump continued, joking about the Biden administration’s recent move to rename immigrants.

“From now on, you have to call them newcomers,” he joked, and if they don’t, “you’ll get sued by the DOJ in Washington.”

“Does everyone agree with them?” he asked.

‘No!’ the crowd roared back.

Many voters at the meeting that DailyMail.com spoke to agreed with the president, saying border security is the most pressing issue in the upcoming election.

“Immigration is number one,” Duchess, a voter from Virginia, told DailyMail.com.

Dave, from Woodbridge, Virginia, similarly said his top priority is solving the “immigration issues we have right now.”

Dave and Duchess are not alone, however, as many voters have said border security is their top issue in 2024.

Americans now say immigration is the most important issue facing the country — with 28 percent of voters calling it their top concern, ahead of the state of the government and economy.

Additionally, a recent poll released this week found that a majority of American voters now want a barricade along the U.S.-Mexico border, an issue that Trump addressed in 2016.

More than 7.2 million migrants have entered the US since Biden took office, many entering the country illegally between ports of entry

Trump estimated that 15 million migrants have entered the US under Biden’s term, although official government figures indicate it is about half that number.

And Trump’s border security message may be working.

The former president had a super Saturday, winning the primaries in Idaho, Missouri and Michigan.

Trump’s victories in those states mean the former president remains undefeated in this year’s primaries or caucus contests.

He previously won the primaries in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

Nikki Haley, meanwhile, still wants to win her first primary.

She previously told voters she would stay in the race until Super Tuesday, just three days away.

On Super Tuesday, 16 states and American Samoa will have the opportunity to vote on who should become the Republican presidential candidate.

It will be the biggest test yet for both candidates, although Trump is widely expected to win.

“Three years ago we were a great nation and soon we will be a great nation again,” Trump said Saturday in closing his speech.

It was his second campaign rally of the day, having previously held a campaign event in North Carolina.

Republican Reps. Lauren Boebert and Matt Gaetz also attended the meeting.

“I will soon reveal the details of what exactly happened that night,” she revealed in the statement.

“For now, we ask for prayers and privacy until I and my family recover from this terrifying experience. Thank you to everyone who is helping us catch this perpetrator,” Evans concluded.

The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office confirmed there was an attempted burglary at her home.

The Sheriff’s Office added that a deputy responded to Evans’ home for a call about a burglary, but the suspect had fled by the time he arrived.

The unknown person attempted to break into the back of the home, but was unable to gain entry.

He then entered Evans’ garage and began throwing some of her personal items from the garage onto her lawn.

The deputy reported that no items were missing from the home, although the lock on the back door where the man attempted to enter was damaged.

This comes after a report on Friday revealed that her husband David Eason is planning to file for divorce from Evans after she allegedly kicked him and his 16-year-old daughter Maryssa out of her home.

It also comes after Evans was reunited with her eldest son Jace, 14, who was removed from her home by Child Protective Services after Eason allegedly attacked Jace in September 2023.

One explanation behind the mystery is that Charlotte, who is believed to be between 12 and 16 years old, may have reproduced herself, but other experts speculate that she could be carrying 'hybrid' shark babies.

However, Kady Lyons, a researcher at the Georgia Aquarium, shared it Associated press that a hybrid of sharks and rays is not biologically possible.

Although Charlotte is due to give birth any day now, she has gained quite a following as social media users are intrigued by the mysterious pregnancy – and fans are now demanding updates on the aquarium's Instagram page as the account hasn't posted anything about the stingray since yesterday.

“We need an update on Charlotte!” one fan asked in a recent post, while dozens of others asked about Charlotte's well-being and due date in the comments section.

“We have held this close to our hearts for over three months. We have had ultrasound images confirmed by two supporters: Dr. Robert Jones, the Aquarium Veterinarian from Australia, and Becka Campbell, PhD candidate at Arizona State Univ.

“The really amazing thing is that we don't have a male ray!” the announcement continued, adding that there are “a number of possible reasons for this event.”

“We hope you'll join us. It's a once-in-a-lifetime scientific mystery,” the post concluded.

  • How Charlotte's pregnancy was revealed

In September, the team of Ecco staff at the Aquarium and Shark Lab in Hendersonville noticed that Charlotte was starting to swell and they were concerned that she might have cancer.

Americans are staying in their homes before they sell for twice as long as they did in 2005 – and baby boomers are to blame.

According to a new report from Redfin, the average homeowner today spends 11.5 years in their home, compared to 6.5 years 20 years ago.

Researchers say the trend is driven by older homeowners who aren't “financially incentivized” to move. A shortage of homes on the market is driving up prices.

It comes after former Oppenheimer analyst Meredith Whitney told DailyMail.com that home prices will finally start to fall as more seniors downsize, freeing up homes.

Homeowner tenure peaked at 13.4 years in 2020, according to Redfin's analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data.

According to a new report from Redfin, the average homeowner today spends 11.5 years in their home, compared to 6.5 years 20 years ago.

It comes after former Oppenheimer analyst Meredith Whitney, pictured, told DailyMail.com that house prices will finally start to fall as more seniors downsize – freeing up homes.

The analysis also showed that millennials are more likely to stay at home for a shorter period of time, partly because they change jobs more often than older generations.

Two in five baby boomers (born between 1946 and 1964) have lived in their home for twenty years or more.

By comparison, fewer than 7 percent of millennials – born between 1981 and 1996 – have lived in their home for ten years or more.

The report notes: “Most – 54 percent – of baby boomers who own homes own them for free and with no outstanding mortgage.

“For that group, the average monthly cost of owning a home – including insurance and property taxes, among other things – is just over $600.

“Almost all boomers who do have a mortgage have a much lower interest rate than if they were to sell and buy a new home with the current interest rate of 7 percent.”

But researchers noted that older homeowners who are “hanging on to their homes” are “posing a barrier to young first-time buyers trying to enter the market.”

The average interest rate on a 30-year fixed home loan reached 6.77 percent, up from 6.64 percent last week, according to figures from government-backed lender Freddie Mac.

The average interest rate on a 30-year fixed home loan reached 6.77 percent, up from 6.64 percent last week, according to figures from government-backed lender Freddie Mac.

The findings echo comments made by Whitney, an analyst who was dubbed the “Oracle of Wall Street” after she accurately predicted the 2008 financial crisis.

Her research shows that approximately 90 percent of the housing stock is owned by people over 40, while 74 percent is owned by people over 50.

However, she claims a significant upheaval is afoot as more of these older owners begin to sell, freeing up inventory and driving down prices.

Whitney told DailyMail.com: 'It makes sense that many of these owners will be downsizing over the next decade. That's almost 35 million homes; it's a huge number that has to go through the system.

“My advice to homeowners is, if you want to sell, it's better to do it sooner rather than later.”

During the pandemic, the median U.S. home price rose from $303,465 in March 2020 to $402,045 in December 2023, according to Redfin data.

Many families were caught up in a so-called 'race for space' as they looked for larger homes and gardens in which to spend the lockdown. A widespread shift to working from home has also separated workers from their city center properties.

But home prices have remained high since then, despite mortgage rates soaring in response to Federal Reserve interest rates hitting a 22-year high.

The average interest rate on a 30-year mortgage currently hovers at 6.77 – about double what they were two years ago, according to figures from government-backed lender Freddie Mac.

In a normal market, this would be sufficient to dampen demand for housing and thus keep prices down. However, several experts have noted that a widespread housing shortage in the US has kept home values artificially high.

Whitney emphasizes that there will not be a 'crash' in house prices, but rather an overdue correction.

And some markets will do much better than others.

She said: “Every sixty years, from an economic perspective, we see a similar kind of seismic shift in the American economy.

“Today we see companies shifting to tax-friendly states across the Sunbelt and in Texas, Tennessee and North Carolina. These are the housing markets where growth will continue.

She notes that homeowners have built $21 trillion in equity in their homes over the past decade. So a price drop is unlikely to seriously harm them.
