Two people have been rushed to hospital after a horrific single-vehicle crash on the Gold Coast.

A 25-year-old male driver crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of Guanaba Creek Rd and Stewart Rd in Guanaba just before 8:25 p.m.

He was with a 19-year-old female passenger.

The passenger side appeared to bear the brunt of the crash, but it was the driver who suffered the most serious injuries.

The 25-year-old man suffered serious injuries to his lower extremities and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with the 19-year-old woman, who suffered minor fractures, Queensland Ambulance said.

The vehicle was removed from the intersection and the accident scene cleared before midnight.

The investigation with the Forensic Crash Unit is ongoing, Queensland Police said.

Dancing On Ice’s Greg Rutherford has been forced to quit the show mere hours before the live final.

The Olympian, 37, was set to battle it all out against Ryan Thomas, Adele Roberts and Miles Nazaire to lift the trophy this Sunday night, with bookies’ calling it the ‘closest final in history’ with the odds on who would win.

Yet his hopes of taking part have been shattered after he sustained a ‘significant’ injury on the morning of rehearsals.

His pro partner Vanessa James broke the news in an Instagram post on Sunday, sharing: ‘Unfortunately Greg has sustained a significant injury this morning at rehearsals and won’t be able to perform tonight.

‘We are on our way to the hospital for Greg to get examined further and receive the treatment he needs.’

Earlier this week, Greg told The Mirror his time on the competition might be over after sustaining a painful groin injury four weeks ago

Earlier this week, Greg told The Mirror his time on the competition might be over after sustaining a painful groin injury four weeks ago

An ITV spokesperson added in a statement to MailOnline: ‘Sadly Olympian Greg Rutherford MBE has had to withdraw from Dancing On Ice after sustaining an injury whilst in rehearsals for the final episode of the current series.

‘Greg and Vanessa have been such a popular couple this series and have performed some truly memorable routines.

‘We will be helping to support Greg and wish him well with his recovery. We also want to thank him for being such a treasured member of the Dancing on Ice family.’

Earlier this week, Greg told The Mirror his time on the competition might be over after sustaining a painful groin injury four weeks ago.

‘I was gutted at first, that’s classic me, an injury right at the wrong time. But due to Sharon, the physio who works for the show, has done a tireless job to keep me going and doing well,’ said the Olympian.

‘We are currently in a situation where, yes, it is still healing and there’s a little bit of soreness and tightness. But I am able to do what we need to do. Thankfully I am here and I’m thrilled to be here as well.’

The athlete admitted the last hurdle will be attempting to do the Bolero – although he is ‘happy’ to have made it to the final regardless.

Greg remarked he was also voted best skater out of solo skate, something he called as a ‘really proud moment’.

‘All in all, thrilled to bits, I’m ignoring the fact there’s still a little bit of an injury there but that’s fine. I’m hoping the showcase, everyone loves it, and we get to do the Bolero. Then, who knows at that point, who knows!,’ he added.

Greg previously revealed the show was doing wonders for his health and he was in great shape after losing 7kg since joining the ITV show.

The long jump star added his journey on Dancing On Ice helped him finding a great balance while eating better and training.

Gushing over his experience on the runaway series, Greg admitted he found a ‘complete love and passion’ for ice skating which he ‘didn’t expect to happen’.

The athlete – who is now retired – said the show gave him a purpose for training and ‘feeling better in myself’, which he described as a ‘kick up the bum to stay fit and healthy’.

Elsewhere Ryan Thomas has said that he hopes the final of Dancing On Ice will mean his body can finally recover from undergoing intensive training while on the series.

The former Coronation Street actor, 39, who played Jason Grimshaw for 16 years will battle it out on Sunday night

The actor, whose professional skate partner is Amani Fancy, told The Mirror that being nearly 40 meant his body didn’t ‘bounce back as easy’.

He said: ‘They work you hard and it’s now final week and there’s a lot to take on. And the body’s not far off coming to a standstill. I mean, it takes its toll on your body more than anything else.’

Ryan – whose brothers are Strictly Come Dancing star Adam Thomas and former Love Island contestant Scott Thomas – added that his focus was on returning to his family.

He continued: ‘I think that’s the only reason I can get through this because I know at the end, I’ve got my beautiful family to go back to.

‘I live for that, doing the normal every day, taking the kids to school, going to the park, the things I used to take for granted, I will be embracing very much.’

Ryan, shares a daughter Scarlett, 15, with his ex and former Coronation Street star Tina O’Brien, and two children with fiancee Lucy Mecklenburgh, who found fame in TOWIE.

With the end in sight, Ryan stated that the skating has been getting ‘harder and harder’.

The final of Dancing On Ice is on Sunday at 6.25pm.

Most shocking Dancing On Ice injuries EVER from broken bones and sliced scalps to hospital dashes – amid claims the show could be facing the axe

Dancing On Ice is back on our TV screens for another series, with the latest intake of celebrities battling it out on the rink.

But every year as the competition hits ITV, there are a number of injuries caused by the treacherous ice – with Greg Rutherford, Ryan Thomas and Roxy Shahidi among the victims this year.

It has prompted fans recently to questioned the safety of the ITV show following several falls and injuries this series.

In addition, in 2021 after a series of A&E dashes even before launch night, many viewers took to Twitter to claim that the show was ‘stretching the NHS‘.

And now Dancing On Ice judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean’s decision to retire from skating could signal the beginning of the end for the show following a ratings tumble.

Amid claims the show could be facing the axe MailOnline takes a look at the worst falls and injuries over the year along with a series of other controversies from the show…

Iconic Falls

Todd Carty surprised everyone (including himself) when he lost his balance and found himself flying down the tunnel during his performance back in 2014.

Skating alongside his partner Susie Lipanova, suddenly the former EastEnders actor, 60, lost his balance and flew down the tunnel off stage, while Susie completed the routine alone.

Judge Jason Gardiner said at the time: ‘Todd you’re like a derailed locomotion’, as the star was voted out in week four.

Meanwhile Gemma Collins took a serious tumble when her graceful routine to Celine Dion’s It’s All Coming Back To Me Now suffered a bump in the road.

As the TOWIE star, 42, tripped and fell on the rink back in 2019, her professional partner Matt Evers rushed to her aid.

Returning to the show as an audience member for the show’s Christmas special later that year, she said: ‘I got so excited, I just went too over the top with my movement, which you’re not allowed to do in ice skating and my toe pick got caught – and bang.

‘I thought I was dead. I literally thought I was dead.’

Joe Pasquale managed to fall off the ice in his week one routine to Queen’s Flash.

Skating towards a podium for the finale of the routine, the actor, 62, flew off the ice and landed in a heap, before quickly clambering to his feet and stumbling to the top of the podium for an epic finish.

Host Christine Lampard joked: ‘Well he not only entertained us, I think he possibly winded himself as well.’

Injuries on the ice

Skating is a famously dangerous sport, and contestants are constantly aware of the perils involved while taking part.

Brookside actress Jennifer Ellison, 40, accidentally struck herself in the head with her skate while trying to perform a tricky manoeuvre back in 2012.

Despite the injury during the ‘scorpion kick’ she bravely continued to finish her routine, receiving her highest score up until that point.

The blonde left the ring as soon as her routine ended to receive medical help with blood pouring from her head.

Meanwhile in 2006, England goal keeper David Seaman accidentally dropped partner Pam O’Connor during rehearsals.

The footballer attempted to swing his partner round by her feet only to hit her face on the ice and result in a hospital dash.

Accusations of bullying

Supermodel Caprice Bourett accused pro Hamish Gaman of bullying after she exited the show after two weeks in 2020.

Reports claimed she was ‘poised to sue ITV over the fallout’ and allegations that the skater ‘gaslighted’ her in tough training sessions.

Caprice was said to have complained about Hamish and the duo were assigned a supervisor to watch their rehearsals.

Despite the allegations, ITV said they ‘found no evidence of bullying’ on the show.

ITV told MailOnline at the time: ‘We take allegations of bullying very seriously but found no evidence on Dancing On Ice and we strongly refute any suggestion to the contrary.

‘We’re very proud of the team, both on and off screen. They produce a fantastic show and we are committed to ensuring that everyone who works on the programme is fully supported.’

On screen arguments

Former judge Jason Gardiner, 52, left the show four years ago, following a series that saw him at loggerheads with contestant Gemma Collins.

The drama between Jason and Gemma played out on the 2019 series, with them at each other’s throats during the critiquing.

It eventually reached boiling point when the TOWIE star accused the judge of ‘selling stories’ about her and her apparent poor work ethic.

The uproar eventually cost Jason his job on the show and he was replaced in 2018 by John Barrowman, 56 – before he faced the chop due to accusations of inappropriate behaviour.

But his altercation with Gemma wasn’t his first after he found himself face to face with Denise Welch’s then husband Tim Healy back in 2011.

After Jason described Denise and Matt’s routine as ‘watching two people playing Twister’ and called her upbeat routine from the week before ‘abysmal’ Tim decided to take matters into his own hands.

As the audience cheered the Benidorm actor went face to face with Jason as he said: ‘Listen mate she’s 52 and she’s got four jobs, how many jobs have you got?’

‘Oh my God you’re breath!’ exclaimed Jason as he dramatically wafted the air, as Holly joked: ‘You mess with Denise you mess with her husband’.

Backstage romances

Just like its rival Strictly Come Dancing, the ITV show is no stranger to the dreaded curse and stars finding love with their professional partners.

Coronation Street’s Samia Ghadie, 41, split from her co-star Will Thorp and found happiness with French skater Sylvain Longchambon, 43, – with whom she is now married and shares a son.

The budding romance also saw Sylvain split from Hollyoaks’ Jennifer Metcalfe, 40, after also meeting her on the ITV show.

EastEnders’ Shona McGarty and former co-star Matt Lapinskas ended their romance during his stint on the series, reportedly due to his relationship to partner Brianne Delcourt.

The actor went on to date the professional for a year before the stunner dumped him amid cheating allegations.

David Seaman, 60, also found love with pro Frankie Poultney, 49, after retuning to the show for a second later making her his third wife.

 Judges battling it out

One of the show’s most memorable moments was Jason and head coach Karen Barber’s on air argument.

After Karen attempted to offer constructive criticism Johnson Beharry VC, acid-tongued Jason jumped in with a put-down.

Attacking the former judge he said: ‘Karen if your opinion mattered, you’d still be on the panel’. While Karen clapped calling him ‘offensive’ and questioned what he brought to the show.

Once again finding himself in trouble with bosses Karen reportedly saved him from getting the sack.

Brittany Higgins was rushed to hospital in Perth on Tuesday evening.

The former Liberal staffer was treated at Royal Perth Hospital at 11pm on Tuesday evening, The West Australian reported.

Ms Higgins’ hospital visit came just hours after a nine-hour mediation session at the WA Supreme Court with her former boss, Senator Linda Reynolds, collapsed.

She reportedly spent several hours in the emergency department but was not admitted to a hospital ward.

On Wednesday evening, Senator Reynolds called the negotiations “difficult and testing” and wished Ms. Higgins “a speedy recovery.”

Senator Reynolds (pictured with her partner and lawyer leaving the WA Supreme Court on Tuesday) told the waiting media it had been a ‘long day’. She has wished Mrs Higgins a ‘speedy recovery’

Legal negotiations are unfortunately sometimes difficult and testing for all participants and yesterday was an exhausting and difficult day for all of us,” Senator Reynolds told The Australian.

‘I have tried to keep stress to a minimum by avoiding any direct contact that might have been confrontational and relying on a very experienced judge to interact with Ms Higgins.’

Higgins revealed that she had proposed a two-week break in the case ‘to allow Ms Higgins and all parties to recover and get past the stress of court attendance and significant media attention’.

Although it is unclear why she went to hospital on this occasion, Ms Higgins previously spent five days in a mental health clinic during the first trial of her accused rapist.

She was admitted to a clinic after being found walking alone in the rain on the streets of Canberra in October 2022.

She then returned to the courtroom to complete her cross-examination.

The details could only be revealed after the lifting of a High Court ban order, following the decision to halt a second trial of her alleged rapist.

On Wednesday morning, Daily Mail Australia revealed that a planned conference between Ms Higgins and her fiancé David Sharaz and Senator Reynolds, due to take place later that day, had been sensationally scrapped.

It is unclear whether Ms Higgins’ hospital visit played a role in that decision.

Senator Reynolds is individually suing both Ms Higgins and her fiancé David Sharaz over a series of social media posts that she claims have damaged her reputation.

Ms Higgins and Mr Sharaz moved permanently to France at the end of last year after buying a house near Bordeaux.

They had no plans to return to Australia but were forced to attend a court-ordered mediation session in Perth on Tuesday and Wednesday.

It was intended to avoid a costly lawsuit.

The group entered the courtroom at 10 a.m. Tuesday and left just before 7 p.m., without resolution. Wednesday’s session was subsequently suspended.

A trial is now expected to take place, likely to begin in May and last six weeks.

The two sides did not even face each other on Tuesday because Senator Reynolds wanted her own chamber on the court.

Daily Mail Australia understands Ms Reynolds opted for a private room away from the couple on Tuesday, meaning a mediator had to spend the day traveling between the parties.

It is also understood that Mrs Higgins was not allowed to bring a chaperone with her, which is why her best friend Emma Webster was absent.

Ms Webster stood by Ms Higgins during both Bruce Lehrmann’s criminal trial and when Ms Higgins appeared in court for his defamation action against Network Ten and Lisa Wilkinson.

When contacted by Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday, a spokesperson for Ms Reynolds said: “Discussions between the parties are ongoing today.”

“There will be no further comment.”

As she went to court on Tuesday morning, Hs Higgins told reporters she believes everyone went to the hearing “in good faith.”

Neither she nor Mr Sharaz answered any questions as they left court with their lawyers later that evening.

Ms Reynolds left with her lawyer Martin Bennett and her partner Robert Reid.

“Long day,” she said, grinning widely to the waiting media.

“It’s still ongoing, so it’s not appropriate for me to comment on it yet.”

Monday’s hearing was held as Judge Marcus Solomon urged the parties to resolve the issue before going to trial, citing the enormous costs often associated with defamation proceedings.

Ms Reynolds’ defamation case centers on social media posts fired by Ms Higgins and Mr Sharaz.

She claims the messages implied she pressured Ms Higgins not to proceed with a complaint to police about her alleged rape, and interfered with Mr Lehrmann’s criminal trial.

Ms Higgins is also accused of breaching a non-disparagement clause in a settlement contract she entered into in 2021, which prevents her from speaking negatively about Ms Reynolds.

The senator is seeking higher damages, an injunction to restrain Ms. Higgins from publishing allegedly defamatory material, and another injunction to restrain her from breaching the settlement agreement.

Ms Reynolds is simultaneously suing Mr Sharaz separately alleging he defamed her in five social media posts, which were allegedly ‘falsely defamatory’ and caused her ‘loss and damage’.

It comes just months after Ms Reynolds attempted to freeze Ms Higgins’ assets.

Ms Higgins received around $2.4 million from taxpayers in 2022 on claims her political career was in ruins after she alleged she was raped by former colleague Bruce Lehrmann at Parliament House in 2019.

Mr Lehrmann has consistently denied the allegations and is currently suing Channel 10 and Lisa Wilkinson – who broke the story about The Project in 2021 – for defamation.

During a match against Odense, the Northern Ireland international suffered brutal injuries to his head and nose.

After the match, Peacock-Farrell shared a series of photos on his Instagram account, including one from his hospital bed.

In another, he showed a gruesome gash on the top of his head.

He captioned his post: “Some stitches, a broken nose and a little less hair on top. The benefits of being a GK.

“Thanks for all the sweet messages. Enjoy the swipe.”

Peacock-Farrell subsequently received many well wishes on social media.

One fan said: “Owch. Get well soon Bailey. I really hope to see you back at Burnley. We really need you.”

While a second wrote: “Tough guy, hope you’ll be back on the pitch soon.”

Sheffield Wednesday ace Liam Palmer added: “Quick recovery mate.”

And fellow members of the goalkeepers’ union also wished him well, with West Brom stopper Alex Palmer writing: “Jesus! Get well, mate.”

While Blackburn’s Aynsley Pears added: “Rest up mate all the best.”

Peacock-Farrell started his career as a teenager at Leeds and went on to make 41 appearances for the Whites.

He then moved to Burnley in 2019, where he made a total of 24 appearances for the Clarets, helping them to the Championship title last season.

Following Vincent Kompany’s takeover of James Trafford last summer, Peacock-Farrell moved to AGF on loan.

The new series of the smash hit show The Traitors has reportedly been thrown into chaos after the BBC was flooded with 300,000 applications.

Nearly 7 million viewers watched the season two finale in January and now producers are said to be racing against the clock as they try to get just 22 hopeful viewers in in time for filming, which starts in a few months.

A source said The sun: ‘[Filming] should start in the spring because the hours of daylight in the far north of Scotland are far too long in the summer months.’

“That’s a big deal because, as anyone who’s seen the show knows, a lot of it has to take place at night.

“So if they miss the opportunity to film, it causes problems.”

Before going on to say how happy the producers were that so many hopefuls had signed up to appear on the show.

MailOnline has contacted the BBC for comment.

It comes after Courteney Cox was reportedly lined up as the first signing for a famous version of The Traitors.

The actress, 59, is close friends with the show’s host Claudia Winkleman, 52, and she claimed bosses hope their friendship will convince Courteney to sign up.

American star Courteney was known around the world for her role as Monica Geller in the hit sitcom Friends from 1994 to 2004.

Insiders have claimed that producers are hoping to have their pick of a number of big stars who are themselves fans of the reality show following the success of the first two series, which featured previously unknown contestants.

MailOnline has contacted the BBC and a representative for Courteney for comment.

Claudia and Courteney have been friends for years and last month they were photographed having lunch together in London.

A source said: '[Filming] should start in the spring because the hours of daylight in the far north of Scotland are far too long in the summer months.'

They were joined by Courteney’s long-term boyfriend Johnny McDaid from Snow Patrol and Claudia’s husband Kris Thykier, a film producer.

Last year, Courteney even helped Claudia with a BBC promo video for the show asking for applications for series two of the show.

In the video, Claudia appeared next to a hooded figure as she made the announcement.

She said, ‘I have news. Traitors series 2 is coming, want to join in? Visit the BBC Take Part page and maybe I’ll see you at the castle

The crash occurred on a downhill slope and while McCutcheon was driving at a high rate of speed, she lost control of the steering wheel, unable to reach for her brakes, causing the 19-year-old to fall face first into the bottom of a sand hill.

The impact knocked her unconscious, but after regaining consciousness, McCutcheon managed to crawl to the top of the sand hill to call for help, as no one had witnessed the crash.

Paramedics then treated her and McCutcheon was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital where she underwent nose surgery after falling in and out of consciousness for an hour and a half.

The rider, from Queensland, Australia, was left black and blue after crushing her nose, breaking both eye sockets, the left cheekbone, the left jaw and her upper jaw – the main facial bone.

She is set to undergo further surgery to treat her facial injuries, with McCutcheon saying she is ‘thankful to be alive’ after revealing her helmet saved her life.

McCuthceon shared an update on Instagram and thanked those who came to her aid.

She wrote in the caption: “Grateful to still be here🤍

“We have yet to find out what cut my face as it is still unknown. This is as much information as we can gather from what we know as I don’t remember anything and no one has really seen much of it. But thanks again for everyone who messaged or called me.

“Especially to everyone who helped me during my incident, I would like to thank you all more than anything!!

“There was definitely someone by my side that day and I’m just blessed to be here. Enjoy each day as it comes.

Susannah Constantine was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery as doctors told her she was ‘lucky to be alive’.

The TV personality, 61, was told she needed surgery immediately or risk paralysis, a brain haemorrhage or a stroke.

Susannah suffered from a venous fistula, an abnormal connection between an artery and a vein.

After the worrying ordeal, Susannah said she initially brushed off her pins and needle symptoms in her arm.

Susanna told me OK! magazine that she received sharp warnings from doctors during last year’s health crisis.

Susannah Constantine was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery as doctors told her she was ‘lucky to be alive’

She added: “They said, ‘It’s Hobson’s choice: if you don’t have the operation you have a one in three chance of having a brain haemorrhage, becoming paralyzed or having a stroke.

“If you have surgery, you have a one in 10 chance of the same things happening during surgery.”

Susannah’s condition is typically induced surgically or occurs as a result of a congenital or genetic abnormality.

She said: ‘I had a health problem and quite a major operation. It was very rare that I had a leak: the arteries bled into the capillaries, compressed the spinal cord and affected my brain.’

It caused symptoms such as tingling in her arm, as well as a swollen left eye and ringing in her ears.

Last year, Susannah spoke out about the scary incident for the first time when she revealed she was rushed to hospital after struggling with a ‘withering arm’.

The presenter said on Instagram that she had been put on a drip after the health scare, which turned out to be ‘more serious’ than she first thought.

Fortunately, Susannah assured her followers that the health issue was ‘all resolved now’, and praised the ‘amazing’ NHS and neurosurgeons for their care of her.

Susanna posted a photo of her arm connected to a cannula and wrote: ‘A withered arm turned out to be a symptom of something more serious.

‘Everything is now sorted thanks to our ailing but still great NHS, where we are fortunate to have some of the most gifted doctors (and in this case neurosurgeons) in the world. @brainandspine. Forever grateful.”

Following Susannah’s post, many of her famous friends expressed their well-wishes in the comments, including Stacey Dooley, Faye Tozer and Lisa Snowdon.

Susannah previously revealed she suffers from hearing loss and shared details about her devastating diagnosis and the treatment that changed her life in an interview with The mirror.

She spent a lifetime in loud environments, juggling between production studios and live performances – but it was the inability to hear birds sing that troubled her.

The award-winning author realized she was having problems with her hearing earlier this year, but gave in The problem could have lasted a year and a half.

The famous writer – who lives in the countryside – said the birdsong was one of the most comforting things for her, as she suddenly couldn’t hear it anymore.

‘It was a cacophony of noise without clarity and differentiation. Then I realized it. Well, that in combination with my children [Joe, 23, Esme, 21 and Cece, 18] calling me deaf and getting very frustrated with me,” she said.

Susannah admitted that social situations were becoming increasingly difficult to tolerate, with ambient noise being ‘terrible’.

‘I couldn’t hear the person sitting next to me. I had become an amateur lip reader, but if I couldn’t see someone’s face, I had no idea what they were saying. It was embarrassing,” she revealed.

It comes after Susannah revealed she suffers from hearing loss and shared details of her devastating diagnosis and the treatment that changed her life.

It comes after Susannah revealed she suffers from hearing loss and shared details of her devastating diagnosis and the treatment that changed her life.

The clothing designer opened up about her ’embarrassment’ in seeking help with her problem – as she admitted she had always feared age-related hearing loss.

‘There can be a huge stigma attached to wearing hearing aids. I felt like I might as well go to the funeral home and order my coffin, I felt so old,” Susannah explained.

WHAT CAUSES HEARING LOSS? AND CAN IT BE TREATED?

Hearing loss can be temporary or permanent.

It can also develop gradually with age or occur suddenly.

Hearing loss in only one ear can be due to a buildup of earwax, an infection, or a burst eardrum.

Sudden loss of both ears can result from damage from a very loud noise or side effects of certain medications.

Gradual hearing loss can be the result of fluid retention, also called glue ear; a bony growth called otosclerosis; or accumulation of skin cells, known as cholesteatoma.

Gradual hearing loss in both ears is usually caused by aging or years of exposure to loud noises.

Hearing loss sometimes gets better on its own.

A buildup of earwax can also be treated by suctioning it away or using softening drops.

However, hearing loss can also be permanent, with treatment then focusing on making optimal use of the remaining hearing.

This may include the following:

  • Hearing aids
  • Implants – are attached to the skull or placed deep in the ear if hearing aids are not effective
  • Communicate via sign language or lip reading

Hearing loss can be prevented by avoiding loud music and wearing headphones that block out background noise.

Hearing protectors should also be worn if you work in a noisy environment, such as on a construction site.

And hearing protection must be worn at concerts and other noisy events.

Source: NHS choices

But things took a turn for the worse when the TV star decided to book a hearing test with Boots, finally overcoming the embarrassing stigma.

Recalling the moment she took her hearing test, Susannah said she sat in a soundproof booth with headphones on while listening to a persistent beep, only pressing the button when she could hear it.

The celebrity style consultant was initially confident everything was going well and was pretty sure she was ‘not deaf’ – but there were several pitches she didn’t know she couldn’t hear.

The test revealed that years of wear and tear – such as listening to music on headphones at a very high volume – left the author in need of a hearing aid.

The BBC star has undoubtedly had a life full of sensational moments, including touring with the Scissor Sisters in the past – where, as a huge fan of live music, she often got up close and personal with speakers.

Despite the initially devastating diagnosis, Susannah admitted that hearing aids changed her life forever. She described her Phonak as “transformative” and “comfortable.”

The former fashion journalist joked that the hearing technology is something like “NASA” and that it only blew her away after she tried it out.

Susannah explained that these types of hearing aids can become a comfortable part of your life because you can wear them while swimming or washing your hair – as long as you are careful.

She also said they have built-in Bluetooth, which she often uses to listen to music and make phone calls, although “the music isn’t as good as through headphones.”

The TV personality also revealed that her eldest daughter admitted that her hearing had improved significantly.

Susannah remembered her very first test, which was a loud, big party.

The award-winning author revealed that she was actually doing better than many of those at the party – with many asking to turn down the volume to talk, while for her it was all ‘perfectly positioned’.

Then things took a big turn for Susannah, as she said she was finally starting to embrace her new accessory.

She felt even better when she realized that her previous shame was so unmotivated, because many people around her showed support and even surprise at how “subtle” the technology was.

The writer recalled pulling her hair up and asking people if they had noticed ‘anything new’ about her – with some hilariously asking if she ‘had a piercing’.

The TV star admitted that seeking help for hearing loss proved to be groundbreaking as it allowed her to appreciate what she was missing – and take control of her life.

Susannah also urged anyone who notices symptoms of hearing loss to get tested.
