The Brit Awards 2024 were filled with many memorable moments this year as the stars returned to the 02 Arena for the biggest night in music.

Raye was the big winner on the night, scooping six gongs as she made an emotional appearance on stage.

This year’s ceremony was hosted by Clara Amfo, Maya Jama and Roman Kemp who took the helm on the big night.

There were plenty of big moments including Roman’s savage dig at Christian Horner, Raye’s appearance on stage with her grandma and Kylie Minogue’s hilarious ‘shoey’ drinking moment.

Roman Kemp makes savage dig at Christian Horner 

Roman Kemp made a dig at the Christian Horner scandal which is currently dominating the headlines, during the BRIT Awards on Saturday night.

The Capital Radio host was part of the presenting team, alongside Maya Jama and Clara Amfo, for the star-studded ceremony at London’s O2 which was broadcast on ITV.

Roman made a cheeky quip about Red Bull boss Christian during the live show, which took place just hours after Horner put on a united front at the Bahrain Grand Prix with his wife Geri Halliwell.

Whilst milling around the guests at the ceremony, Roman quipped: ‘It’s busier here than at team Red Bull’s press office.’ 

It comes amid allegations relating to the leak of hundreds of WhatsApp messages which appeared to be written by Horner to a female colleague.

The messages came on Thursday, just 24 hours after Horner was cleared to continue as Red Bull head following an internal probe into ‘inappropriate behaviour’ by the F1 team’s parent company, Red Bull GmbH.  

Horner, who has always denied the claims, said previously: ‘I have the support of an incredible family, an incredible wife, an incredible team and everybody within that team.

‘And my focus is going on racing, winning racing and doing the best I can. It was a day about starting the season in he best possible way. My focus is on this team, my family, my wife and racing.’

Emotional Raye brings her grandmother up on stage

Raye called her grandmother Agatha Dawson to the stage with her as she collected Album Of The Year at the Brits on Saturday – and viewers at home were left in tears.

Looking at her grandmother, the singer, 26, said through tears: ‘I want to thank my grandma for her prayers. My grandma is awake until 3AM praying for me and my beautiful sisters. I love you so much.’

Raye, who wore a stunning white gown, then looked to the audience and revealed: ‘My middle name is Agatha and this Agatha Dawson, ladies and gentlemen.’

She stood back and allowed Agatha, who looked beautiful in traditional Ghanaian kente cloth, to bask in the rapturous applause that filled all corners of the O2.

The Escapism singer continued: ‘I’m so sorry, I want to thank all of the writers. I’m ugly crying on national television. I love music. All I wanted to be was an artist and now I’m an artist with an Album of the Year. Thank you so much, come on grandma, let’s go.’

Emotional fans took to X, formerly Twitter, and said: ‘Not me sitting here crying for raye no one deserves it more than her!!! and shoutout to grandma in the kente!!!’

Roman Kemp ‘insults’ Green Day while hosting 

Viewers were left less than impressed by another Roman quip on Saturday night.

The presenter called Green Day ‘the America Busted’ igniting the fury of fans of the hugely successful US band.

Tré Cool and Billie Joe Armstrong of the American pop punk band attended the award ceremony to present the Best British Group award, with Roman introducing them.

‘To present our next award for British group are two genuine rock gods,’ he said.

‘They have sold over 75 million records and released 14 albums – they are very much the American Busted. Please welcome from Green Day, Billie Joe Armstrong and Tré Cool.’

Viewers weren’t impressed with the joke, with one tweeting: ‘I think Green Day being called ‘the American Busted’ might be the most insulting thing I’ve ever heard. Ever. #BritAwards.’ 

Another asked: ‘Did he just call Green Day the American Busted #BritAwards.’

Kylie Minogue does a ‘shoey’ on national TV

She spends most of her time living in the UK, but Kylie Minogue proved she still calls Australia home during the 2024 Brit Awards on Saturday night. 

The 55-year-old music icon, who won the BRITs’ Global Icon award, stunned fans by agreeing to participate in the Aussie ritual of drinking alcohol out of a shoe during the awards ceremony in London. 

Host Roman Kemp convinced Kylie to drink her signature rosé wine from her high heels during an interview with the pop star at her table, saying it would be ‘amiss’ for the pair to not ‘go with an Aussie tradition’. 

‘So will Kylie Minogue do a shoey with me at the Brits? If I ask for your shoe, can I do that?’ Kemp, asked. 

Kylie appeared hesitant at first, asking the crowd: ‘Do I do this?’ before Kemp held out a pair of black stilettos and filled them with alcohol.

Proving she’s a good sport, the All The Lovers hitmaker clinked stilettos with the host and drank the entire shoe in one gulp. 

Later in the evening, Kylie closed the show with an energetic medley of her most famous hits with viewers rightly branding her a ‘legend’ after she last performed at the ceremony in 2008. 

She looked sensational as she flaunted her age-defying figure in a skimpy white bodysuit which boasted sheer panels.

Falsely accused sub-postmistress hits out on stage 

A former sub-postmistress, who was wrongly accused of stealing £36,000 during the Post Office Horizon scandal, took to the stage at the BRIT Awards on Saturday to accuse the government of lying about paying back postmasters.

Jo Hamilton, whose shocking story was told in ITV’s Mr Bates vs The Post Office, presented the first award on the biggest night in British music.

The wronged subpostmistress was joined onstage by Monica Dolan, the actress who played her character in the hit drama which delved into the scandal.

The 66-year-old told the large crowd at London’s O2 Arena: ‘I want to thank everyone in the country for the love and the support they have given the postmasters. 

‘Please can you keep on supporting us because, despite what the Government says, they’re not paying the postmasters.’

The audience, who loudly cheered the mother-of-two as she started speaking, then booed after they heard her claims about the Government’s reluctance to remunerate victims of the scandal.

MailOnline has contacted the Department of Business and Trade for comment.

Mrs Hamilton was falsely accused of taking the money from the Post Office branch she ran in South Warnborough, Hampshire. 

She eventually pleaded guilty to false accounting in fear of going to jail and was prosecuted in 2006.

The subpostmistress and her husband were forced to remortgage their house twice, borrow money from friends and take £6,000 in donations from the village in order to pay back what was lost.

Calvin Harris ‘drinks Harry Styles’ bathwater’ in Saltburn reference

Roman Kemp made Calvin Harris drink a ‘bottle of Harry Styles’ bath water’ in one funny moment.

In a reference to the film Saltburn Roman sat with DJ Calvin and his wife Vick Hope at their table where he said he wanted to do some shots with him.

He said it was a ‘non alcoholic’ drink and didn’t give anymore details until after when he brought out a bottle labelled ‘Harry Styles’ bath water’. 

Roman said: ‘I know, it is alcohol free, it is at one with the body. I have a mocktail for you. Are you ready for this one?’ 

They both downed the shots, then Roman quipped: ‘It is a little be salty.’ 

He then picked up the bottle and held it up to the camera. 

Roman told Calvin: ‘I call it the Saltburn. It is a special brew.’ 

Roman said ahead of hosting the show: ‘This is a real pinch me moment! Hosting the BRIT Awards – what an honour. 

‘I remember watching the BRITs on TV when I was growing up so to be asked to host this year’s awards, is a dream come true. 

‘It’s going to be a privilege to share the stage with so many talented artists and to celebrate the incredible achievements of all the nominees and winners this year. See you there.’

Viewers have given a firm thumbs down to the 2023 Royal Variety Performance after it finally hit screens on Sunday night.

Despite a star-studded lineup for the guests of honour, The Prince and Princess of Wales, many fans took to social media to malign the ‘depressing’ names that took to the stage.

Others took aim at the event’s host Bradley Walsh, and slammed his stand-up routine as ‘painfully unfunny’ and ’embarrssing,’ with The Chase frontman even taking a swipe at The Royals in attendance.

However, while much of the evening was savaged by viewers, including Britain’s Got Talent winner Viggo Venn and comedian Simon Brodkin, three names earned plenty of praise. 

Cher, Hannah Waddingham and Beverley Knight were all lauded by fans watching for bringing a touch of star power to proceedings, with some noting they even ‘saved’ the show.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one posted: ‘#RoyalVarietyPerformance by the looks of some of the comments I’m glad I skipped the shebang.’

‘#RoyalVarietyPerformance the highlight of the evening was Bradley Walsh’s opening rant about no gong, all down hill after that, hit rock bottom with that p**t and his high vis,’ a second added.

A third posted: ‘I bet King Charles was glad he decided to send his son and stay snug at home in his comfies than going out that night to endure’ while one added: ‘Not sure what’s more depressing, the quality of the acts on offer (with one or two exceptions) or the comments on Twitter.’

Bradley was slammed by ITV viewers as he kickstarted the show with a ‘cringe’ stand-up routine.

The Chase presenter first appeared in the annual show 30 years ago and has now taking charge of proceedings. 

However, just minutes into the show fans took to social media to complain about his ‘boring’ opening as he made an awkward joke at the expense of Prince William and Kate Middleton. 

The Princess and Prince of Wales attended the event at the Royal Albert Hall with Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and her husband Prince Daniel, who were in the UK on an official visit.

William and Kate entered the event with beaming smiles before they settled into the balcony with the Swedish royals while the crowd was giving them a standing ovation.

Bradley made a joke on the ‘royal highnesses’ being in attendance, with the camera switching to William and Kate as they laughed away – despite Omid Scobie’s ‘royal racist’ claims which were published on the very same day.

Bradley’s awkward joke started with him greeting the ‘royal highness, or royal highnesses’, with him pretending to stumble over the word several times.

‘It doesn’t sound right, your royal highnessesses? There’s too many “ssessess”, innit? Your royal highness… your royal highnessesses?,’ he said.

‘It should be like cactus, cactussess, cacti. Your royal highness, highnessess and highni. That’s it. I’ve got it. Your royal highni.’

Meanwhile Kate and William as well as Victoria and Daniel were seen laughing awkwardly at the joke at their expense.

The royal couple showed no signs of anguish following the release of Omid Scobie’s book Endgame, the couple looked delighted to greet the crowd.

But viewers were quick to take to X, formerly known as Twitter, to complain how ‘cringe’ the bit was. 

One wrote: ‘Bradley Walsh stand-up comedy isn’t for you.’

A second agreed: ‘Bradley you are going on a bit too much about noting having an OBE you’re not good at stand-up.’

Another penned: ‘Bradley Walsh absolutely painfully unfunny. This is one of the worst routines I have ever seen in my life. Hopefully the end of this ‘career’.’

The evening saw a slew of big names taking to the stage, including Paloma Faith, McFly and the cast of shows Sister Act and Crazy For You.

Also on the bill was Britain’s Got Talent winner Viggo Venn, who bagged his place on the bill after his controversial Britain’s Got Talent win back in June. 

Some viewers even used the hashtag #CancelBGT at the time as they took to Twitter to criticise the results of the public vote.

But now back on stage and decked out in his high vis, Viggo performed his own unique style of comedy and crowned a random audience member ‘King Charles’ as he presented him a golden jacket.

Viewers at home were left well and truly divided while some claimed the Norwegian comedian ‘hysterical’ others branded him a ‘cringeworthy embarrassment’.

One furious fan said he ‘made a mockery of both BGT and the Royal Variety’, while a second typed: ‘Motored watching him, I had to turn it off’. 

With a third saying: ‘Embarrassing, cringe. Did he win [BGT] as a protest vote’.  And: ‘Embarrassing not entertaining in the slightest’. 

A fourth agreed stating:  ‘The Royal Variety perfomance this year is shockingly bad and Vigo Venn highlighted that’. Someone else branded his on stage antics: ‘Pathetic’. 

But others were loving the show and said his set left them in ‘stitches’, with one commenting: ‘Great to see Viggo back’.

With another fan writing: Made me laugh a lot tonight and BGT. Comedy is subjective’.

A fourth gushed:  ‘II’m sorry but Viggo Venn is hilarious, I’m in stitches right now’. And: ‘Well I thought he was funny’. With a fifth adding: ‘He makes me laugh’ and fifth wrote: ‘It made me laugh’. A seventh happy viewer added: ‘Viggo Venn loved you on the Royal Variety you smashed it’. 

Comedian Simon Brodkin also sparked a furious backlash with his own stand-up routine, after he made a ‘sick and insensitive’ Covid joke.

The comedian has previously been known for attention-grabbing stunts, including throwing money at FIFA President Sepp Blatter during a press conference and handing Theresa May a P45.

Opening his set at the prestigious event, Simon quipped that he ‘broke into a lab in Wuhan in 2019’ in reference to the supposed origins of the deadly coronavirus.

He told the audience: ‘I am the guy that did all the stunts and people always want to kow if my stunts ever go wrong. Occasionally, late 2019 I broke into this laboratory in Wuhan. Sorry.’

While Simon’s joke earned plenty of laughter from the audience, many viewers watching at home took offence, and slammed the jibe.

One posted: ‘HOW dare you make a DISGUSTING joke about the pandemic? I will be making a complete Ofcom about this you should be ashamed of yourself.’

‘The Wuhan joke was very poor taste. Many lost loved ones, or remain poorly – not funny,’ a second added.

A third posted: ‘Sorry, but jokes about Covid are in poor taste, we lost a family member to it. I’m a nurse and worked through it too, terrible times.’

‘Very distasteful and insensitive joke about the Wuhan Labs. Many people lost their lives to Covid!’ one user posted.

One shared: ‘Was Simon Brodkin making a joke about Covid?? The joke about him breaking to a laboratory if so that’s not funny that’s sick!!’

However, there were some stars who took to the stage that earned some praise from viewers, with Beverley Knight showcasing her incredible vocals alongside the cast of Sister Act.

One wrote: ‘Sister Act saved a dreadful Royal Variety Performance’ 

Another said: ‘Beverley Knight now we’ve a bit of class. Thank God, Sister.’

A third penned: ‘Sister Act is what I’ve been looking forward to! No way I’ll ever get to see it in the West End so delighted to have a taster!’

A fourth said: ‘Beverley Knight can do ANYTHING’

Another added: ‘#beverleyknight being the ICON as always GOD BLESS my IDOL #theroyalvarietyshow’

‘@Beverleyknight & the cast of #SisterAct had me goosebumping all over the joint on the #RoyalVarietyPerformance. I NEED to see that show in the West End!!’, gushed another.

‘YAY @beverleyknight and @sisteractsocial lighting up the #royalvarietyperformance,’ added a seventh. 

Dressed in an elegant gold gown, Hannah Waddingham also delivered a stunning performance which earned universal praise from viewers.

One wrote: ‘Wow Hannah Waddingham can SING!!’ while another added: ‘Well our latest National Treasure… Hannah Waddingham really delivered then. She’s a bit of a star.’

A third posted: ‘Wow! Best act of the night! Hannah Waddingham. Amazing,’ while one viewer added: ‘My god, Hannah Waddingham is absolutely extraordinary.’

Cher also closed out the evening with a performance of her festive new track DJ Play A Christmas Song, and was a welcome addition to the lineup for many viewers.

One posted: ‘I have to admit Cher’s Christmas song is very catchy. I wouldn’t mind it getting the much-anticipated #ChristmasNumber1,’ while a second added: ‘Yeh we would have rather heard a Cher classic song but wow she looks absolutely fantastic for 77.’

A third praised: ‘That Cher Christmas song is right banger,’ while another added: ‘I have to say, this Cher song is very catchy. I like it.’

‘DJ play a Christmas song is genuinely such a good song, Cher is forever mother,’ one shared.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! fans were left in stitches on Sunday night at Tony Bellew’s final trial – as he took a savage swipe at Nigel Farage before fearing for his ‘goldfish’. 

The former professional boxer, 41, was strapped onto a giant spinning plate as he endured the ‘Stakeout’ challenge during the highly-anticipated final. 

As he rotated in circles, a ton of critters and offal were dumped onto his body, leading to an eruption of many swear words. 

Poor Tony was left effing and blinding as he was fuming at the disgusting trial – but hosts Ant and Dec, fellow finalists Nigel Farage and Sam Thompson and viewers back home were all left in hysterics. 

However, at stake was a meal, drink and personalised treat so Tony was forced to stay on the platform for as long as possible. 

An enraged Tony told Sam to ‘shut up laughing’ while fuming at Ant and Dec, shouting: ‘You weren’t let out as a child were you!’ 

He went on to take a savage swipe at his ex UKIP leader campmate Nigel as Sam encouraged him to ‘Just pretend you’re Nigel!’ to which Tony immediately shouted back: ‘No thanks!’ 

After Ant told him he was ‘nearly’ at the end of the trial, Tony seemed to reach the end of his patience. 

He said: ‘No I haven’t – I’m nowhere near it! Stop telling lies! They’re [the critters] really biting!’ 

He then expressed his worries that one would go near his ‘goldfish’ as the critters began to crawl up his shorts. 

And to a laughing Ant and Dec he continued: ‘That’s what it is! It’s worked four times, it’s done the job!’

‘The fifth child is now off the cards because that crab has just given me the snip!’ 

Amused viewers immediately took to social media and were left in hysterics. 

One said: ‘Tony is so funny hahahaha’, while another added: ‘Tony makes it 10 times funnier with his reactions.’

Another agreed: ‘Tony’s commentaries throughout his trials are too funny!’ 

Arriving at the Trial clearing host Ant said: ‘Welcome, for the last time, to the Bushtucker Trial clearing. You’re our final three.’

Dec added: ‘Don’t want to spoil that lovely time we’re all having, but, today you will all face a classic Bushtucker Trial. 

‘On offer are starters, main courses, desserts, drinks and treats… you’ve just got to take on the Trial to win them. Sounds good, doesn’t it?’

Ant said: ‘You’ll all take on a Trial individually, but the question is who’s up first? Tony – it’s you.

‘This is ‘Stakeout’. You’re going to be strapped down to the giant plate and you must stay on it and endure the jungle critters that will join you on there. 

‘For every two minutes you manage to stay on the plate that’s a star up for grabs.’

Dec added: ‘The first three stars you win are for starters for you and your other campmates. 

The fourth is for your drink of choice tonight and the fifth is for a very special treat for yourself. Shall we get this over with?’

After Tony’s trial Sam took on an eating trial while Nigel endured the Panic Pit.

It comes as the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! favourite to win has been revealed.

Sam leads the odds to be crowned King of the Jungle, according to Ladbrokes.

The Made In Chelsea star, 31, will compete against boxer Tony and politician Nigel in Sunday night’s final.

The bookies make Sam odds-on at 4/11 to go all the way Down Under, with Tony second in the betting as things stand at 4/1, ahead of Nigel at 9/2.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: ‘We’re guaranteed a King of the Jungle this year, and while Nigel Farage has been well backed of late, the odds suggest Sam Thompson is a shoo-in for the crown.’

It came after TV presenter Josie Gibson, 38, became the seventh campmate voted out on Saturday, only just missing out on Sunday’s final.

Fans were left fuming upon her exit as they shared their disappointment that she didn’t make the final – after she was the last woman standing in the camp.

Many viewers also shared their annoyance that controversial politician Nigel, 59, had not been voted out instead of Josie as they said she deserved to make it through. 

Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter – one wrote: ‘How is Josie out and Nigel still in,’ another said: ‘How the f**k is Nigel still in and Josie just left???’

A third tweeted: ‘Noooo!!!!!!! Not Josie. WHY IS NIGEL STILL IN THERE???!!!!’ and another penned: ‘Trying to figure out how Nigel beat Josie.’

A fifth gushed: ‘Aw, Josie has just been the best! I really wanted her to win right from the start, and I’m so happy she got so far. She’s been such good fun!’

And one sweetly added: ‘She was the last woman standing so she’s still the Queen of the jungle, we love you Josie.’

After her exit, Josie became the seventh star to back Sam for the crown as he seems to have won over viewers and campmates alike with his bubbly and enthusiastic personality. 

When asked who she wants to win, she said: ‘Sam has just got a magic about him, he’s entertaining from the moment he wakes up until he goes to sleep,’ before adding that she would also be happy to see Tony win.

Josie was finally reunited with her son Reggie after her shock elimination.

The This Morning star picked up her five-year-old in her arms in a sweet hug as she arrived at the Marriott Hotel.

Boy meets world alumni Danielle Fishel, Rider strong And Will Friedel are closer than ever — but they can’t say the same about their relationship with the former costar Ben Savage.

“He disappeared – I wish I knew why, to this day,” said 46-year-old Friedle Variety in an interview published on Wednesday, June 28. “We didn’t argue. There’s no fighting. There was no animosity. He woke up one day and decided, ‘I don’t want this person in my life anymore.’”

Friedle – who played Eric Matthews, the older brother of Savage’s Cory Matthews, on the beloved sitcom – said he “finally texted you that said, ‘I’ve known you for 30 years, what’s going on? call bye until you tell me not to call you again.’” However, Friedle gave up after “a month” of not hearing anything.

“I’ve known him since he was 11 years old, and we have a shared history. And we did these conventions together, and we got to know each other as adults, and then he just said, ‘I’m done with you,'” he added, pointing out that their estrangement is a “painful subject.” to discuss. “I tried and tried and tried for months, until finally my wife said, ‘Why are you doing this to yourself? He clearly doesn’t want you in his life.'”

Savage, Friedle, Strong, 43, and Fishel, 42, all starred in the ABC hit from 1993 to 2000 and became instant global teen icons. The popular Friday night staple ran for seven seasons and followed Cory and his friends from high school through their college years. While Friedle was Cory’s wacky older brother, Strong and Fishel played Cory’s childhood best friend and old girlfriend, respectively. The sitcom revival series, Girl meets worldpremiered on Disney in 2014 – with all four main characters appearing throughout the show’s three seasons.

For years, the group held fan conventions together – until Savage quit without any notice. “He just disappeared from our lives,” Fishel said Variety on Wednesday, adding that Savage was there for her when her first son was born early and in the NICU in June 2019. (Fishel shares two sons, Adler, 4, and Keaton, 2, with husband Jensen Karp.)

“We were just so, so close, especially at the time. He checked in with me regularly,” she recalled. While Fishel claimed that Savage “ghosted” us after that, she revealed that she remains hopeful that they will all reconnect in the future.

“If there’s one thing this podcast has taught me, it’s that everyone is on their own journey and has their own experiences that can be perceived in many different ways depending on your POV,” she explained. “Speaking for myself, Ben and I may be estranged at this point and we may have our complaints about each other, but I will always love Ben and have his best interests at heart. I don’t think this is the end of our story, but time will tell.”

When it comes to their podcast, “Pod Meets World” – a rewatch show where the actors watch the sitcom for the first time and recap the series from their own perspective – Savage has rejected the idea from the very beginning.

“He was convinced it wasn’t for him,” Fishel said. “He was also very clear: ‘I don’t want it to hold you back. If you want to do it, go ahead.’ The time between those conversations and when we actually started the podcast was a significant amount of time.

A walk down memory lane may not have been the right decision for Savage, but Fishel, Strong, and Friedle have achieved great success with the podcast, including seeing over 17 million downloads and selling popular merchandise. The trio have also done two live shows and had a slew of BMW guest stars including Betty Randle, Trina McGee, Matthew Lawrence, Adam Scott and Mr. Feeny himself William Daniels.

Child star and politician Ben Savage hasn’t spoken to his old co-stars Will Friedle, Danielle Fishel and Rider Strong in three years.

The foursome all had their big break on the ABC sitcom Boy Meets World, which ran for seven seasons (1993-2000) and the Disney Channel spin-off Girl Meets World, which ran for three seasons (2014-2017).

“He ghosted us,” Danielle recalled Variety on Wednesday. “He’s sort of disappeared from our lives.”

The 42-year-old actress has not seen the 42-year-old congressional candidate since he visited her in the NICU after her first child – son Adler Lawrence Karp – was born a month early in June 2019.

“We were just so, so close, especially at the time. He checked in on me regularly,’ Fishel marveled.

“I’ve known him since he was 11 years old and we have a shared history. And we did these conventions together, and we got to know each other as adults, and then he just said, “I’m done with you,” the 46-year-old actor recalls.

“I finally texted, “I’ve known you for 30 years, what’s going on?” I said, “I’m going to call you every day until you tell me not to call you anymore.” That lasted about three weeks or a month, every day.’

Friedle continued, “I tried and tried and tried for months, until finally my wife said, ‘Why are you doing this to yourself? He obviously doesn’t want you in his life.'”
