Finally, the world can stop speculating and coming up with countless fantastic conspiracy theories or tasteless ‘jokes’ about what happened to Kate Middleton.

I’m sure there are plenty of people who were embarrassed when the news broke of her cancer diagnosis on Friday. But the one person I think of in all of this, the one person my heart goes out to in every way, is Prince William.

This poor man.

From his parents’ divorce when he was just ten years old, to their subsequent divorce, quickly followed by the untimely death of his adoring, adored mother, we have witnessed time and time again how life threw hardships at him.

In recent years he has dealt with increasing disagreements with his only sibling Harry and sister-in-law Meghan, his father’s cancer, and now this – an unexpected and tragic burden on top of everything else.

The distance from Harry is undoubtedly felt particularly keenly.

After all, he’s the only person who fully understands what this is like. The only person to have endured both divorce and the death of a parent, in such a devastating public setting, is irreconcilably estranged.

There were certainly too many stones thrown, too much pain and too many injuries for Harry to provide any comfort or strength to William.

William who now carries the weight of the crown as his 75-year-old father undergoes his own treatment for cancer; William must support his young family like never before.

As someone who has danced with cancer myself, I know how overwhelming it is for your partner. My husband was terrified when I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in 2014, much more terrified, he later told me, than I seemed.

Our children were 14, 13 and the twins were 11. While everyone gathered around me, few thought to contact my husband.

He stepped in to care for the children, driving them back and forth, making sure their lives continued to progress normally, all the while worrying about what might happen to me.

When friends called him, they asked about me, and like William, he bore much of the burden alone, putting on a brave face, knowing he had to be strong for all of us.

We now know that the prince pulled out of his godfather King Constantine’s memorial service at 11am last month because he had just heard of Kate’s cancer. Two days later he was back at work and showed tremendous courage and devotion to duty.

We will hear endless speculation about Kate in the coming days, but few think about the partners and everything they have to go through when their loved one is struck by a serious illness.

William’s pain is even deeper right now considering his three young children: George, 10, Charlotte, 8, and Louis, just 5.

They are not much younger than William was when his mother died, and that trauma and grief, the specific fear of losing a mother, is undoubtedly something he will bend heaven and earth to protect them.

We don’t have a prognosis for Kate. She says that she is receiving preventive chemotherapy, that she feels ‘good’ and is ‘getting stronger every day’. We are all thinking of her and praying.

But illness is a great equalizer.

No matter how much help the Waleses have, how many nannies or nurses there are, William must now be a steadfast force for his children and wife.

And while Kate may need space to break down, to lie awake at night with fear dancing around her head, William will feel like he needs to be a rock, as all partners must do when their loved ones are so seriously affected are.

This is as much William’s struggle as it is Kate’s, but he, as stoic and kind in public as his mother always was, will now be under pressure to keep that mask on at home too.

No matter how scared he is, he can’t show it.

He has to keep smiling for the children and reassure them that mommy will be fine.

Children are remarkably observant: if he lets his fears surface, they will notice them, so he must keep it all deeply hidden while surrounding them with the safety, security, and love they need right now.

He is not only a husband, a father and a prince; his main role at this time is caregiver.

Whatever your life revolved around – family, work, charities, royal garden parties – everything stops when hospitals and doctors take over your daily life.

Considering everything William has been through in his life, we can only hope that he has trusted friends and loved ones to care for him as well.

They need to let him know that no matter how stoic he has to be for Kate and their children, he needs to know that he can crack, to let out that scared fifteen-year-old boy who just lost his mother.

The Princess of Wales today said she is ‘doing well’ as she bravely opened up about her cancer diagnosis.

Kate Middleton, 42, was admitted to a London hospital in January for a planned operation and returned to Windsor to continue her recovery.

However, doctors discovered an unspecified form of cancer in tests taken after her surgery.

Today, Kate revealed in a video message that the diagnosis ‘came as a huge shock’ but she was now in the ‘early phase’ of preventive chemotherapy treatment.

A two-inch scar on the head

Kate has a three-inch scar on the left side of her head, dating from childhood.

It was first noticed in 2011 when the Princess officiated her first solo royal engagement at a private black tie dinner at Clarence House.

It was confirmed that it was the result of a surgery performed when she was a young child.

An official statement explained that “the scar was related to a pediatric operation,” but that the details of the operation were a private matter.

Royal sources confirmed it had been ‘a very serious operation’ but declined to comment further.

However, surgeons said at the time that the scar is unlikely to be the result of a tumor and may have been caused by the removal of a mole.

Morning sickness

The princess was hospitalized for three days in 2012 due to severe morning sickness while pregnant with Prince George.

She was admitted to King Edward VII’s Hospital, a private hospital in Marylebone used by the royal family for more than a century.

Kate suffered a recurrence of hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) while pregnant with Princess Charlotte in 2014 and Prince Louis in 2018.

This condition caused the princess to announce her later two pregnancies prematurely, before reaching the crucial twelve-week stage.

However, while she was transporting Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, she was cared for at Kensington Palace rather than hospital.

HG can lead to severe dehydration and puts both mother and baby at risk of being deprived of essential nutrients because they are unable to keep food and drink down.

Patients can vomit up to 30 times a day, with exhausting and dangerous consequences.

Kate revealed in 2020 that she used meditation and deep breathing to manage her symptoms.

Abdominal surgery

The princess was scheduled for major abdominal surgery in January and spent two weeks in hospital.

Kate was admitted to the London Clinic in Marylebone and returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery with the support of her family.

At the time, her condition was not thought to be cancerous but no other details of the operation were given.

She was advised to recover for two to three months.

Her absence from the public eye sparked a social media firestorm and a number of baseless conspiracy theories.

It was alleged that at least one employee of the London Clinic tried to access her medical records.

Three employees have been suspended while the hospital investigates the claims.

Cancer diagnosis

The princess announced today that she is in the “early stages” of treatment for an unspecified form of cancer.

No tests prior to her abdominal surgery had confirmed the presence of cancer.

However, doctors discovered the disease in tests taken after her surgery.

In a video message released today, Kate said her medical team had advised her to undergo a preventive course of chemotherapy.

“This obviously came as a huge shock, and William and I have done everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she added.

“I am doing well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal: in my mind, body and spirit,” she said.

Kate also recognized others whose lives have been impacted by cancer.

“To anyone facing this disease in any form, please do not lose faith and hope. You are not alone.’

Brooke Boney has shared a touching message with her fans after announcing her shock resignation from the Today Show live on air on Friday.

In an Instagram post after the news broke, the TV star shared a moody image of herself on the street, along with a heartfelt caption.

“Thank you for all the wonderful messages,” she began the post.

“I will answer everyone all weekend and we will shed all the tears when I leave in September.”

She was flooded with support from her colleagues and co-stars, including Tracy Vo who said: “Awesome Brooke! What a huge adventure awaits us. Congratulations!’

The 36-year-old TV presenter confirmed in an emotional announcement on Friday’s program that she will be leaving Channel Nine’s breakfast show to pursue her dreams.

Boney has been part of the show for five years as a news and entertainment reporter, but is now leaving to study abroad.

She confirmed on air that she will move abroad to study at Oxford University from September, leaving the show after the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in August.

‘I have very big news for you this morning. I have been offered a place at Oxford University later this year, which means I will be leaving the show after the Olympics,” Boney said on air on Friday.

“I don’t want to go into too much of it now as there will be plenty of time for goodbyes and thank yous, but I just wanted to share this good/bad news with you this morning.”

Boney will take an intensive one-year Masters of Public Policy course, which focuses on economics and policymaking.

The rising Nine star admitted the decision to leave her role on the program was ‘very difficult’.

“It was a dream of mine to be able to study at a foreign university, and it just felt like the right time to take that step,” she explained.

“I’m so grateful to come here every day and I love you all so much. So it made the decision very difficult. But it just means you all have to plan trips to Britain to come visit me.”

Boney was comforted by her co-host Sarah Abo as she was left teary-eyed after sharing her big news, admitting she had “mixed emotions” over her love for her job.

‘My head currently running. My heart is beating very fast,” she added.

Karl Stefanovic also shared his pride as he spoke glowingly about her huge achievement in securing a place at the prestigious red brick university.

He said: ‘It’s a big challenge to break away from something as safe as this, and it’s to make your dreams come true. Taking that step, biting off that step, is a testament to you as a person and says everything about you.’

“The good news is you can meet my daughter to check in,” Stefanovic also joked about his daughter Willow, 18, who is studying at the London College of Fashion.

However, Boney assured fans that she will be on screens for a few more months as she will cover the 2024 Olympics live from Paris.

“We’re going to have a great time in Paris,” she said.

Boney will take an intensive Masters of Public Policy course, in which students will tackle some of the most complex public policy challenges of this century.

According to the course prospectus, the curriculum focuses on modules in economics, public policy, law and the politics of policymaking.

“It is a transformative opportunity for current and future leaders with a commitment to public service,” the course description adds.

Speak with NineBoney described working on the Today Show as a ‘privilege’ and said ‘never in her wildest dreams’ did she think she would be on the programme.

Despite her big change, she hasn’t ruled out a return to television in the future and hopes her studies will help her decide what to do next in her career.

‘I thought: if I don’t do this now, I probably never will. “I’m at that age where if I leave now, go to college and come back, I’ll only be 38,” she said.

‘That still leaves plenty of time to figure out the next part of my career.

“I would love to come back and still do stuff with Nine and figure out what that looks like.”

Steven Burling, director of Nine’s morning television, said of Boney’s departure: ‘We couldn’t be more proud of Brooke as she takes on this challenge in the second half of the year. She inspires us all as she follows her dreams wherever they take them. her.’

Boney started her television career as a political correspondent for SBS before moving to NITV, subsequently joining the Today Show in 2019.

Kris Jenner put on a brave face to celebrate her daughter Kylie Jenner’s new venture on Thursday – three days after her sister Karen Houghton’s shock death.

It was announced that Karen – who famously had a rollercoaster relationship with Jenner – had died ‘unexpectedly’ died aged 65 this week.

Following the reports, Kris paid an emotional tribute to her ‘sensitive’ sister and said her ‘heart was broken’ for their mother MJ and Karen’s daughter Natalie.

Days after the tragic event, Kris, 68, arrived to Catch Steak alongside her boyfriend Corey Gamble, 43, and was also joined by her daughter Khloe and Sofia Vergara.

The mother of six wore a 70s-inspired white suit with black dagger lapels on the jacket and a ruffled black blouse underneath.

She completed her look with pointy heels, a tiny black purse and a large statement ring on her right hand.

The late-night soiree celebrated the release of Kylie’s 100-calorie canned vodka soda brand Sprinter — which is her first business venture in the spirits realm.

Kris’ sister Karen was reported deceased to San Diego County officials on Monday in San Marcos, California, TMZ reported.

The exact circumstances of her passing are currently unclear, with county officials attributing her death to natural causes for now.

Karen and Kris grew up in San Diego and were raised predominately by their mother MJ after her divorce from their father Robert Houghton.

Kris shared a selection of photos with her sister on Tuesday and wrote: ‘It is with the heaviest heart and deepest sadness that I share that my sister Karen passed away yesterday unexpectedly.

‘My heart aches for my mom MJ and my niece Natalie and I pray that God guides us all through this difficult time. Karen was beautiful inside and out. She was the sweetest, kindest, the most sensitive and vulnerable and so so funny.

‘She always felt grateful and thankful for her life and treasured her family and friends and especially her beautiful daughter. She holds such a huge part of my heart and I cherish every single memory we have together.

‘Karen’s passing is a reminder that life is so short and precious and tomorrow is never promised. We must tell those we cherish how much we love them. I love you my beautiful sister.’

Karen is survived by her daughter Natalie, 26, who she welcomed with ex-husband Mark Zettel, mother MJ , Kris and nieces Kourtney, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and nephew Rob Kardashian.

On Wednesday Natalie shared an emotional tribute to her mother via Instagram.

In it, the 26-year-old, who is first cousins with the Kardashian and Jenner kids, including Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and Kendall Jenner, admitted that she ‘doesn’t know how to go on’ without her mom.

‘Dear Mommy, I can’t believe [you’re] gone,’ she began in the harrowing post. ‘This doesn’t even feel real.

‘It all happened so quick and I wasn’t ready for you to go. An angel was sent to heaven on March 18th, 2024. I love you mommy and you will forever be missed.’

Natalie, who works as a caregiver and is also a budding model, described her mother as her ‘best friend’ and ‘the most kind, sweet, loving, giving, and caring soul’ she knew.

‘I keep hoping that I will get to hug you or kiss you or hear your voice one last time,’ she continued.

‘You were my best friend, my everything, the best mother a daughter could ever ask for.

‘I’m so grateful to have had a mother like you. You were the most kind, sweet, loving, giving, and caring soul. You had the biggest heart.’

Kris and Karen had long endured a rollercoaster relationship, oscillating between taking public barbs at one another, to Kris lavishing her little sister with pricey gifts.

In 2019 the pair were revealed to have reunited in an Instagram Story posted by Karen’s daughter Natalie.

The feuding sisters posed smiling with Natalie, her famous cousin Kylie Jenner, and their mother Mary Jo Campbell.

Part-time nurse Karen had become known as the black sheep of the family after she candidly opened up outside Kim Kardashian’s baby shower in 2013 and even did a jig for waiting reporters.

Despite signing an NDA for the event, Karen waxed lyrical about eating ‘marshmallow on a stick’, the rose cake at the event and the goody bag, saying Kim and Kanye West ‘gave out Rolexes’.

Karen had frequently been outspoken when her sister Kris has riled her.

In 2013 Karen claimed that Kris had spent an eye-watering $1million on plastic surgery, which stemmed from being self-conscious about her weight when she was younger.

‘She was heavy as a kid and became worried about her looks at age 15,’ Karen told In Touch magazine.

She added: ‘The whole world knows it – Kris is vain.’

The reality star has been famously open about the two breast augmentations and the facelift she has had.

In 2014, Karen told Radar that despite Kris and her estranged husband Bruce looking friendly there would be no reunion.

Karen said: ‘Bruce left. He walked out on her, and I think he’s not coming back. He couldn’t take the yelling anymore and stuff.’

And she said Kris was not taking the split well, adding: ‘I think she’s got issues right now because Bruce left her. ‘Kris is alone, she’s not dating. She’s not the type to run around.’

She made the comments after writing on her Facebook page in April 2014: ‘Pray for Kris Jenner she needs it…crazy. Shes as nutcase [sic].

‘She doesn’t need prayers she needs sky vodka hahaha hahaha hahaha.’ And explaining her somewhat harsh views, Karen said ‘I get p***ed off at her because she doesn’t respond to me. If you think your sister would call you back, she doesn’t. And it hurts me.’

However the part-time nurse did poke fun at herself too, in a May 2014 Facebook post, writing, ‘Be someone s crazy aunt…its fabulous! !! K [sic]’

Karen – blamed her sibling’s celebrity status and hunger for fame and fortune.

She said: ‘I don’t care how much money you have or who you are, you’re my sister. I’m not afraid of her. I can’t get to her anymore. But I guess it’s the money.

‘She’s a huge celebrity and now she has changed. I’m not saying good or bad. But I’ve seen what it can do to Kris… ever since she moved to L.A.’

Admitting she has had run-ins with Kris – mainly to do with caring for their aging mother, Karen told MailOnline: ‘I called up Kris yelling at her, because I was like, ‘You need to help your mom more and you know it.’ And I think that she kind of got the message.I was screaming – I don’t even care.

The attack followed a 2013 interview during which Kris told Radar: ‘Unfortunately, my sister has been dealing with demons for years.’

In 2014, the former air stewardess told Radar, ‘when you express a loving family and family values and a close family and my mom wants to live in La Jolla, buy her a condo, Kris! I don’t understand her. I never will. It’s just her personality.’

In the star’s 2011 autobiography she said of her sister, ‘We loved each other, and we were there for each other through thick and thin, and to this day we are a part of each other’s lives.’

In 2016, Karen paid the ultimate compliment to the momager, getting an intensive face lift in order to ‘look like my beautiful sister Kris’.

James Valentine was at a friend’s birthday party last December when the first signs that something was seriously wrong with the ABC radio star suddenly appeared.

“My friend Tom has been celebrating his 40th birthday every few years for a while now and it’s a good party,” Valentine remembers.

“But as usual the bar was free and there was no food.”

Help arrived with three takeaway containers of Thai food delivered to the pub’s party venue about 9.30pm and Valentine gobbled down the massaman beef ‘like a dog blowing up Pal’.

What happened next led the 62-year-old to a doctor’s surgery and a diagnosis of esophageal cancer.

A few minutes after eating the takeout, Valentine began choking and gagging. His wife Joanne said: ‘That’s not right.’

As Valentine clung to a pole in the street outside the hotel, Joanne insisted he visit her sister’s endoscopy clinic for a gastroscopy.

After the procedure, a gastroenterologist confirmed that Valentine was not suffering from some kind of “old man’s reflux disease.”

“It’s bad,” the doctor said.

‘You have a 4 cm tumor where your esophagus meets your stomach.’

The ABC Radio Sydney afternoon show host’s life changed in an instant.

Valentine revealed details about his cancer diagnosis on Thursday in a first-person piece written for the national broadcaster’s website.

At the beginning of that article, addressed directly to his listeners, the former saxophonist for Melbourne band Models said, “I’m doing absolutely fine right now.”

In January, Valentine began five weeks of chemotherapy and radiation. He will soon undergo surgery to remove his esophagus.

“I was immediately given chemo and radiation, but only a mild dose intended to shrink the tumor and clean out the body before surgery,” he wrote.

‘I got tired from the radiation, the chemo made me feel like my whole body was laced with liquid aluminum foil, but I was able to go to work, turn on the radio and even do a few gigs with the saxophone.’

The operation to remove Valentine’s cancerous esophagus will be carried out in a few weeks, during which his stomach will be stretched and attached to his throat to replace the digestive organ.

“I’ll probably feel like crap for a long time afterward,” he wrote. ‘It is likely that I will recover, although that may take several months.

“I will never eat massaman beef again and I think we’ll all be happy about that.”

An ABC spokesperson said there had been an outpouring of care and concern for Valentine since Thursday, with listeners offering messages of support.

Valentine presented the ABC’s Sydney afternoon program for 20 years before holding down breakfast for two years until late 2023, when it was announced he would return to his old shift.

There was an indication that Valentine was unwell on his Facebook page in February when a fan posted: ‘Please stop with mondayitis, we’d love to hear from you 5 days a week on (Radio Sydney).’

ABC management had known about Valentine’s diagnosis since December, but the announcer decided not to tell his listeners until this week.

“I thought about telling the ABC Radio Sydney audience earlier but decided I would just come back to the afternoons,” he wrote.

“It’s a cheerful show overall, so let’s enjoy ourselves there for a few months instead of being in the shadow of my illness all the time.”

Valentine said he expected to be off the air for two or three months, he wrote in his piece.

“I’m going to make sure I’m fully recovered and my stomach stays attached to my neck before I try to broadcast again.”
