Harry and Meghan release statement on Kate’s shock cancer diagnosis: ‘We wish her health and healing’

Harry and Meghan today said they wish the Princess of Wales “health and healing” after she announced her shock cancer diagnosis.

“We wish Kate and the family health and healing, and hope they can do this privately and in peace,” the couple said in a brief statement to Harper’s Bazaar.

It remains unclear whether Harry will return to Britain, as he did after King Charles’ cancer diagnosis.

Kate announced her diagnosis in a video message today, explaining that the cancer was discovered after her abdominal surgery.

‘The operation was successful, but tests after the operation revealed that cancer was present. As you can imagine, this has taken time. It took me time to recover from major surgery before I could start my treatment.

‘But most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that suits them and to reassure them that I will be fine.’

Since then, she has received a global outpouring of support.

One of the first to praise her courage was King Charles.

“His Majesty is so proud of Catherine for her courage to speak as she did,” a palace spokesman said today.

‘Following their time together in hospital, HM has ‘remained in close contact with his beloved daughter-in-law in recent weeks’.

“Their Majesties will continue to offer their love and support to the entire family at this difficult time.”

The two couples, once dubbed the ‘Fab Four’, have not been seen together in public since the Queen’s funeral
