Meanwhile, world golf number 1 Scheffler has 676,000 followers.

And this means that 27-year-old Paige is giving up quite a bit in terms of social media revenue per post.

In fact, research Vegas Insider suggests that Paige, 30, earns as much as four times more per post.

The research shows that Paige earns between $8,477 (£6,692) and $12,716 (£10,000) per post.

Scheffler, on the other hand, earns $2,000 (£1,578) to $3,000 (£2,368) per post.

Not that Scheffler will be too worried as he has won a whopping $8.5m (£6.7m) in prize money in the last two weeks for winning his last two tournaments, including Players Championship.

The research methodology for the data factors in per-post engagement rate, post type extras, and additional considerations.

It concluded that the average golf influencer earns $2,000 to $12,716 per post.

Another PGA Tour golfer, Chris Kirk, earned between $140 and $211 per post because he had 20,200 followers on Instagram.

The overall data showed that the average Tour Pro player can earn around $994 per post, while the average influencer – including names like Grace Charis – can earn around $4,837.

The pub’s secret weapon is its outdoor terrace, which offers stunning views of the sea and extends to the side, allowing a panoramic view of the bustling harbor for up to 200 customers.

The Grade II listed building started out as a concert hall and meeting rooms, designed by architect Stanley Davenport Adshead in 1904.

The interior is based on the style of a Robert Adam Orangery and is said to have been derived from the Little Theater at Versailles and was simplified in the 1930s.

After a nightclubthen a casino, the venue closed its doors in 2008.

But in August 2017, the previously abandoned building was transformed into a Wetherspoons pub and welcomed customers for the first time in almost a decade.

With 11,000 square meters of drinking space spread over two floors and 400 seats, the popular drinking spot can accommodate as many as 1,500 punters.

Following a dazzling £4.5 million renovation, the inside features a grand staircase leading to a carpeted mezzanine balcony, which overlooks the enormous wood-panelled bar.

Ornate pendant lights illuminate the drinkers gathered around the round bar stools downstairs and the building is located in the seaside town’s pretty harbor area.

Some of the pavilion’s original features remain a nod to the building’s past, including the classic round windows.

Derek Bates, in his mid-70s, a retired NHS manager who has lived in Ramsgate for 44 years, said: ‘I’ve been here hundreds of times.

I went for a drink at the first Wetherspoons in Haven in the UK, with cheap beer right on the beach

“The point is that you can sit here with a view when the weather is nice.

“This is probably the best Wetherspoons.”

Adrian Bates, 51, casino worker, said: “I think this is the nicest Wetherspoons I’ve been in. I worked here for 14 years when it was still a casino.

“It’s unrecognizable; there used to be no upper floor, so the stairs weren’t there.

“It was completely different, the only thing that remains the same are the front doors. They have certainly breathed new life into it, I think it is a very good use of the building.”

Jackie Richardson, 67, a retired lawyer, said: “I like the open space, it’s big enough and you’re always served.

“This has a nicer setting than other Wetherspoons, the outside terrace gives it an edge.”

Rose Neale, 70, a retired payroll clerk, said: “This is one of the best pubs around.

“When I’m in the area this is always my favorite thing to do, the atmosphere is my favorite part and being outside in the fresh air.

“Everyone is very friendly here and you have a good selection of food. It has everything.”

Christopher Palmer, 55, a laborer born and bred in Ramsgate, said: “I’ve done a lot of other Wetherspoons.

“This is the flagship. It’s beautiful, it’s right on the beach. You can’t beat it.

“I’ve been in many others and they are all substandard compared to this one.

“This is definitely an improvement over the space that was here in the past: it used to be a nightclub and now it’s a family restaurant.

“They definitely took advantage of the great view.”

Sophie Street, 20, a student said: “I go to university in Canterbury and I thought it was a lovely day. I’m supposed to be going to the coast, so I’ve never been here before.

“It’s a beautiful view, it’s breathtaking.

“It is also very easily accessible. I caught the bus literally across the road so it’s really nice and easy to get to.

“And Wetherspoons are cheap, so it’s a win.”

Sunny McHugh, 21, a student, said: “I had a recommendation: one of my friends told me to come because they had been here before.

“Normally I get a Malibu Coke, but today I got a strawberry daiquiri.

“I definitely think being here has changed what I want to achieve.

“It’s like we’re on vacation in March.”

Andrea Dale, 56, mother of six and grandmother of seven, said: “I’ve been here before, I love the balcony overlooking the sea.

“The one in Margate is the same, but their balcony is really small, so when I have my grandchildren with me we can’t get out the pram, so we usually come to this one.”

Samantha Dale, 30, who has always lived in Ramsgate, said: “The view is what makes it here. It’s so spacious and great for enjoying the sun.”

Shams Rahman, 34, a student born in Ramsgate, said: “I like the building with the interior and the balcony.

“It’s historic and the way they’ve redecorated it, they’ve tried to keep a lot of the history so it doesn’t feel like they’ve tried to make it brand new. It feels like they fixed it.

“It’s nice to sit outside and it’s different to any other Wetherspoons in a city center.”

Wetherspoons: the gift that keeps on giving

As one of the UK’s largest pub chains, stories about the boozer come in fast – here are just a few we’ve covered.

Brothers James Dyer, an assistant product manager, and Matt Dyer, a schedule planner for a railroad company, both 25, have traveled across the country on their unique mission.

Together they visited 400 Wetherspoons pubs to assess an unusual item in each pub.

Elsewhere, a lecherous couple were caught getting frisky in the Wetherspoons toilets.

The brazen couple reportedly refused to leave the toilets after staff members heard suspicious noises coming from the stall.

When police arrived on the scene, they pepper-sprayed the punters before removing them from the venue. reports revealed.

And a hilarious video captured the dramatic moment Wetherspoon pubgoers jumped on tables and chairs after spotting a rat running around their feet.

The rodent caused extensive damage at the Bishop Vesey Wetherspoon pub in Birmingham earlier this month, where Sean Maguire was drinking with friends.

Finally, this man revealed that he had gone to the top-rated Wetherspoons in Britain.

Callum Ryan, a content creator and presenter who previously appeared on Rich Kids Go Skint, was left stunned in the pub, which was in a crazy location in Tunbridge Wells.

Neighbors of the colossus boozer include several other pubs and restaurants, as well as British seaside classics with fish and frying, entertainment and ice cream kiosks.

Carley Muslun, 38, who works at Boulevard Kiosk next to the pub, said: “The Wetherspoons haven’t affected the trade as much as people think, it’s different people coming to the beach for Wetherspoons and different people coming for an ice cream.

“We are very lucky here, the pub is so easy and convenient.

“On a sunny day you can sit on the balcony and order your drinks and they will come to your table.

“The view makes this better than other Wetherspoons.

“I’m originally from Epsom, there’s a big Wetherspoons there, but the view here is a lot nicer. It’s good what they did with the location.

“It was previously empty and I think any building in a seaside resort that is not empty is better: you bring people in.”

Hannah Todd, 25, a student who works at a nearby ice cream shop, said: “I think they did a really good job with the balcony; it is really nice there in the summer, it is always busy. It’s beautiful up there.

“Overall, though, I’m not a big fan of it.

“My family owns local food and drink businesses and if you have £10 for lunch and a drink, compared to £12 for lunch and £4 for a drink, that just doesn’t happen.

“The visitor numbers are no longer what they were, but it is nice that the building is no longer empty. I grew up here and it was deserted, I had never seen it alive before.

“But now that it’s alive, it’s taking things away from all of us who really need it, especially when it comes to the cost of living in which we live.

“Every company needs more customers. This brings in a lot of customers and we don’t.”

This comes after a Haven resort opened the very first Wetherspoons on a holiday park earlier this month

Earlier this year, the much-loved British pub chain confirmed it would be opening a new venue at Haven Primrose Valley Holiday Park in Filey.

Saudi Arabia has announced its latest hugely ambitious construction project for the world’s longest resort rooftop sky pool at 250 m².

Treyam is billed as a ‘raised haven’: a luxury complex stretching over a desert lagoon, with a nearly half-kilometre-long swimming pool on the roof.

It’s the latest vision the kingdom has unveiled as part of its plans to build a massive new futuristic city called NEOM. But it remains to be seen whether the project will ever be built.

The team behind NEOM said: ‘Treyam offers its guests a bold design with minimal land intervention, offering guests an elevated retreat where they can relax, recharge and enjoy the majestic natural environment.

‘Strategically located opposite the opening of one of the most beautiful, azure lagoons on the southern side of the Gulf of Aqaba, Treyam forms a luxurious gateway that invites guests to experiment with an active lifestyle.’

The design shows the 250-room hotel and resort and the 450-metre-long rooftop infinity pool, which sits 36 meters above the water.

It is said that guests will feel like they are floating with ‘breathtaking panoramic views of the lagoon’.

Designs show that the bridge’s facade will create a sunset-like illusion from a distance.

The upper and lower floors offer panoramic views of the tidal lagoon below and the vast sky above, blending into the landscape while maintaining the natural integrity of the coastline.

NEOM says it is designed for adventure and effort.

The resort offers a variety of activities such as sailing, diving and other water sports, as well as land sports.

There will be a luxury spa and gourmet restaurants.

NEOM made the announcement about the latest plan yesterday.

MailOnline contacted NEOM to find out what stage of planning the project is at and whether construction has actually started yet, as well as the expected cost and expected completion date.

Treyam adds to a growing list of extremely optimistic projects that are all part of the new city of NEOM in Saudi Arabia.

NEOM was launched in 2017 by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

It lies in a vast area of previously largely empty land, about the size of Belgium.

Located on the northern coast of the Red Sea, the location has a slightly cooler climate than the surrounding area.

NEOM has captured global attention since its inception with its hugely ambitious plans – and in terms of ambition, one project clearly takes the top spot.

The line was announced in July 2022 and construction began shortly afterwards.

It is a building straight out of a science fiction film, a half kilometer high, 200 meter wide, completely mirrored strip with a length close to the distance from London to Birmingham.

The idea of having an entire, virtually self-sufficient society within the building arose from the idea that if an urban area is in a straight, narrow line, transportation will be more efficient.

The line would have no roads or cars and would be served by ultra-rapid transportation systems.

Proposed buildings such as the 170-meter-long Line, whose dimensions are large enough to create a self-sufficient environment, are known as arcologies.

When the Line is completed, it will be by far the largest building ever built on Earth.

The Line, like the rest of NEOM, has received a lot of criticism.

Some have said that it is Saudi Arabia that is trying to distract the world’s attention from their human rights abuses.

Others say there is hypocrisy in the environmentally damaging construction processes that create supposedly environmentally friendly buildings.

NEOM reportedly has a completion date of 2050 – and if so, it is believed it will have cost a sum of $1 trillion (£783.5 billion) by then.

New Zealand said on Wednesday it will ban disposable e-cigarettes, or vapes, and anyone caught selling them to minors will be fined up to £47,000.

The move comes less than a month after the New Zealand government scrapped a plan to ban people born after January 1, 2009 from buying tobacco cigarettes, effectively raising the age limit by a year every year.

New Zealand Health Minister Casey Costello said e-cigarettes remain “an important smoking cessation tool” and the new regulations will help prevent minors from taking up the habit.

He also added that too many teens use disposable vapes because “they are cheap and remain too easily available.”

“While vaping has contributed to a significant decline in smoking rates, the rapid rise in vaping among young people is a real concern for parents, teachers and health professionals,” Costello said as he outlined changes to New Zealand’s Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act announced.

Under the new law, retailers who sell vapes to children under 18 will face a fine increase from 10,000 New Zealand dollars (£4,700) to a maximum of 100,000 New Zealand dollars (£47,000)

The Health Minister claimed the New Zealand government is committed to tackling youth vaping and continuing its work to reduce smoking rates.

They hope to reach the smoke-free target of less than five percent of the population smoking daily by 2025 – last year, she said, almost seven percent of the population were daily smokers.

Under the new law, retailers who sell vapes to children under 18 will face a fine increase of 10,000 New Zealand dollars (£4,700) to a maximum of 100,000 New Zealand dollars (£47,000), according to Time.

Individuals face a fine of 1,000 New Zealand dollars (£476).

Costello said the New Zealand Cabinet has also confirmed a series of other smoking-related regulations that will come into effect on March 21.

These include “a ban on vaping products with images of cartoons or toys on the packaging, and limiting flavor names to generic descriptions” that may appeal to young people.

Meanwhile, reusable vape products have until October 1 this year to include removable batteries and child safety mechanisms.

But not all New Zealanders agree with the ban, with some concerned the immediate reduction will have several negative impacts on the country.

Connor Molloy, a spokesman for right-wing pressure group New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union, took to X, formerly Twitter, and warned the ban could lead to “a black market for unregulated products.”

‘We welcome the proposed changes regarding stricter penalties and enforcement for those who illegally sell vaping products to minors, but expanding this crackdown to a ban on disposable vapes will simply drive people back to smoking and encourage a black market of unregulated vaping products, such as can be seen in Australia,’ she said.

‘This ban will simply exist [make] it is becoming more difficult and expensive to quit smoking, instead encouraging people to continue smoking or take up smoking again, or to consume black market vaping products whose risks are completely unknown.”

In February, New Zealand repealed a law banning the sale of tobacco for future generations.

The measure would have come into effect in July and would have been the strictest anti-tobacco rules in the world, reducing the number of tobacco retailers by more than 90 percent.

But the new coalition government elected in October quickly repealed the law copied by Britain, despite several researchers and campaigners warning that people could die as a result.

Costello said at the time that the coalition government had committed to reducing smoking but was taking a different regulatory approach to discourage the habit and reduce the harm it caused.

“I will soon present a package of measures to the government to increase the tools available to help people quit smoking,” he said.

He added that vaping regulations would also be tightened to deter young people, which was announced today.

The changes are expected to take effect by the end of the year, the report said RNZ.

SIR GEOFF HURST is backing Gareth Southgate to lead England to Euro 2024 glory – thanks to Jude Bellingham and his fellow boys.

And he tips Real Madrid midfielder Bellingham for inspiring England to success.

The Euro 2020 final was the closest England have come to winning a major tournament since Hurst’s exploits.

Southgate also guided England to the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2018.

Hurst, 82, said: “Our chances of winning the European Championship this summer are very good.

“The leadership under Gareth has been really great and it is good to have reached the semi-finals of the World Cup and the final of the European Championship.

“There was a period a few years ago when players thought it was more important to play European football for a club than to represent their country. That has all changed now under Southgate, although I recognize that there is still a section of people who will moan about the way he is getting England to play.

“But you look at what he’s done and how he works. A giant step forward has been taken, so we have a great opportunity.”

The former England and West Ham forward sang Southgate’s praises at Bristol’s Redgrave Theater during An Evening with Sir Geoff Hurst: The Farewell Tour, but he was less complimentary about some of England’s previous efforts on the biggest stages.

Hurst explained: “Some past performances have been very poor, especially at the World Cup in Brazil (2014). We had three qualifying matches and before we knew it we were off and back home.

“Some foreign managers have not done so well and some of our performances in tournaments have been shocking. But it won’t be a shock to me if we win this summer.

Shaun Custis and Jack Rosser discuss Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher’s England hopes as Southgate ponders Euro 2024 squad

“I say that because I think we have THE best group of young players, even though it will be difficult.”

With Bellingham going from strength to strength in Spain, Hurst is optimistic that England fans can finally celebrate as he continued: “Jude Bellingham is an incredible talent – what he has done with his career so far is incredible.

“He went to Real Madrid and it seems he can’t stop scoring, which shows what a fantastic player he is.

“But Jude is also part of a great group of young players, which is great. He’s only 20, which is amazing and he’s brilliant.

‘Plus, he seems like a nice guy and doesn’t seem to get carried away with anything.

“I can’t speak enough about him. But he is just one of many young English players who will only get better, so we have a very good chance.”

Hurst scored one of the sport’s most controversial goals in the 1966 final. But while he agrees VAR would have shown his shot was a yard over the line at Wembley, he is far from impressed of the new system.

He said: “Decisions must be made quickly. It’s c**p. Fans can’t celebrate properly, players can’t celebrate and the referee leaves the field to watch the screen for ten minutes.

“And somehow they’re still making just as many bad decisions, which is amazing. It’s just terrible.”

The Canadian has since embarked on a successful modeling career and now has 3.2 million followers on Instagram alone.

She regularly drives them wild with her raunchy photos – including when she joined the braless club and her steamy ‘overqualified Baywatch application’.

Mikalya was then told that “you are a danger to humanity” after a busty display this week.

However, she has now turned her hand to a completely different sport by revealing her ‘front two’ – and she ‘guaranteed’ victory on the football pitch.

Mikalya showed off her ball skills by posting several photos of herself decked out in hot pants and a figure-hugging photo.

The first saw her holding the ball while brushing her blonde hair back, while she dropped the foot to lean on the bar to reveal her peachy booty in the second.

The ball was back for the next shot as she watched innocently as she stood next to it before another pose leaning on the woodwork.

Mikalya then finished it off by placing her foot on the ball and striking a pose that showed off almost all of her curves.

And they were accompanied by a caption that read: “Guaranteed your team wins as a distraction.”

Mikaya was undoubtedly the match of the day, and it didn’t take long for admirers to jump into the comments.

A fifth declared: “By far the most beautiful woman in the world!!”

Another declared she would soon become “a Balon d’Or winner”, while a fellow fan labeled her “perfect”.

And another cheekily said they loved her choice of “two up top”.

INCREDIBLE plans for the world’s largest plane reveal how the giant cargo plane could be the key to transporting some of the largest objects on the planet.

With a gigantic length of 100 meters, the revolutionary WindRunner would be longer than the pitch at Wembley Stadium and could carry no less than 12 times more payload than a Boeing 747.

The WindRunner, which will carry the enormous and heavy blades of a wind turbine, could officially become the largest aircraft in terms of length and cargo volume if built.

The smart team at Radia is behind the ambitious project that rocket scientist Mark Lundstrom is part of.

He has spent the past seven years working with his engineering team to finally nail down the concept of the jet.

The overall purpose of the aircraft is to address the many challenges faced when transporting offshore blades due to their size.

The largest blades are so enormous that the plane can only carry one at a time.

It is also 80 times larger than the largest military aircraft in the world

The WindRunner will be a beast in the air due to its impressive size.

It is 30 meters longer than a Boeing 747, the largest passenger plane in the world.

And despite the aircraft’s incredible length, it is also 23 meters high and has a wingspan of 261 meters.

At a speed of 0.6 Mach, the cargo plane, if built, can also carry a maximum payload of 72,575 kg.

Interior plan for the world’s largest passenger plane, twice the size of the Boeing 747, which would have carried almost 1,000 people

The aircraft could potentially hold one large offshore blade at a time, or four smaller blades.

But Lundstrom is hopeful that the plane will one day expand its use and move other large equipment for military operations.

Or be used to help in the oil and gas industry, where it could make billions.

The Radia team expects commercial production of the aircraft to start in late 2027.

THE POWER OF WIND TURBINES

Offshore wind turbine blades are among the longest objects in the world and can currently only be transported by enormous boats.

The blades are made of fiberglass reinforced polyester or epoxy, which means they can weigh ridiculously much and be almost impossible to fit on vehicles that aren’t specially reinforced.

The heaviest knives can weigh as much as 26,000 kg, reports suggest.

But with the size and mass of the WindRunner, it could open up a whole new world, allowing even bigger blades to be produced.

In the future, Radia is considering using blades that can reach a range of up to 100 meters.

An astonishing increase from the current dimensions of only 229ft (70 meters).

Such projects could then help produce approximately double the amount of energy that current onshore installations can produce.

The larger the leaf, the more wind energy can be harvested at the same time.

Radia estimates that turbines with such large blades can reduce energy costs by 35 percent.

And it could also increase the consistency of energy generation by 20 percent compared to the current crop of onshore turbines.

The largest aircraft in the world

AIRPLANES come in all shapes and sizes, but some are simply bigger and better than the rest.

The largest commercial aircraft in decades was the Boeing 747, which took the honors after coming in at 230 feet long.

The Airbus A340-600 briefly stole the crown in 2001 when it entered service at a whopping 247 feet.

But Boeing quickly reclaimed the title of world’s largest airplane when the 747-8I reached a height of 250 feet.

There have been many candidates for the throne over the past fifty years, but one stands above the rest.

A double-decker superplane called Very Large Airplane.

The first concept was designed by Lockheed Martin in 1996 and would have blown any other passenger plane 262 feet long out of the sky.

In terms of the heaviest aircraft, the Antonov An-225 Mriya holds the world record with a maximum capacity of over 250,000 kg.

Followed by the Antonov An-124 Condor, which can carry around 150,000 kg.

The world’s 30 coolest streets for 2024 have been named by Time Out and it’s a thoroughfare in the ‘ultra-trendy suburbs’ of Melbourne that takes the crown.

It’s followed by one of Hong Kong’s oldest roads, with a street in Austin, Texas, that ‘encapsulates the city’s spirit’ taking bronze. The UK doesn’t fare well, managing just one entry – London’s Gerrard Street in 17th place.

The ranking – compiled from the thoughts, ‘hyper-local insight’ and expertise of Time Out’s global editorial team –  highlights ‘must-see streets, roads, avenues, plazas and boulevards in cities around the globe, where locals head for a guaranteed good time’, the guide says.

Grace Beard, Travel Editor at Time Out, said: ‘You only really get to know a city when you veer down its side streets, and Time Out’s list of the World’s Coolest Streets celebrates the avenues, thoroughfares, backstreets and boulevards where local life really thrives. Nominated by our local expert editors and contributors – who know their cities like nobody else – these are the best streets in cities around the world right now to eat, drink, dance, shop and stroll.’

Scroll down to see the results in full and cast your vote for your favourite street among the top 10 in our poll at the bottom…

10. Consell de Cent, Barcelona

Consell de Cent in Barcelona, which lands 10th in the ranking, comprises ‘more than 6km (3.7 miles) that cut right through the city’s core’ and is lined with shops and restaurants

‘Walking down Consell de Cent is like taking a stroll through a microcosm of Barcelona,’ says Time Out of this ‘vibrant’ street in the city’s Eixample neighbourhood.

Since its pedestrianisation, the central hub boasts ‘more than 6km (3.7 miles) that cut right through the city’s core’ and it ‘no longer feels like a chore to walk through’. Instead, citygoers can enjoy the many restaurants, boutiques and hangout spots that line the street, according to the guide.

‘You’ve got everything from the latest crazes like Chinese hot pot joints, CBD shops, and beauty salons to timeless favourites like vermouth bars, cozy tortilla spots, and artisan bakeries,’ it adds.

What are Time Out’s hot tips for the street? Soak up some culture at one of its many galleries and, when the night rolls around, ‘hit up one of the vibrant LGBTQ+ spots like Priscilla Cafe or Plata Cocktail Bar’.

9. Chazawa-dori, Tokyo

Chazawa-dori, a street in Tokyo's Sangenjaya district that ranks ninth, is 'presided over by a giant gorilla jutting out from the rooftop of a FamilyMart convenience store'

Chazawa-dori, a street in Tokyo’s Sangenjaya district that ranks ninth, is ‘presided over by a giant gorilla jutting out from the rooftop of a FamilyMart convenience store’

Just two train stops away from Shibuya, Tokyo’s Sangenjaya neighbourhood has the ideal mix of city-centre excitement with the relaxed vibe of a mostly residential neighbourhood.

So says Time Out, which shines a light on its main thoroughfare – Chazawa-dori – which ‘is presided over by a giant gorilla jutting out from the rooftop of a FamilyMart convenience store’.

But this street has more to offer than an iconic photo opportunity, according to the publication, which adds: ‘Every Sunday afternoon, Chazawa-dori is closed to traffic, making it the perfect time to explore this vibrant street on foot, popping in and out of friendly restaurants, cosy cafés, local grocers and charming bakeries.’

What does Time Out recommend to eat? Sushi with wine at the ‘sleek and modern’ Sancha Monica or a cream soda float topped with ice-cream and fresh fruit at Guuutara Coffee.

8. Arnaldo Quintela, Rio de Janeiro

Arnaldo Quintela in Rio de Janeiro comes eighth. It has established itself as 'a culinary hotspot', says Time Out

Arnaldo Quintela in Rio de Janeiro comes eighth. It has established itself as ‘a culinary hotspot’, says Time Out

‘Amazing burgers’, Brazilian music and late night venues are on the cards at Arnaldo Quintela in Rio de Janeiro, according to Time Out.

Not too long ago, the street ‘would’ve been a ghost town after work hours’, it says, adding: ‘But over the past few years, this street has established itself as a culinary hotspot, and now you can hardly move for people filling its sidewalks each night.

‘Old mechanic shops have become cosy places to eat and drink; groups gather inside and outside traditional bars like Xepa and Treme Treme; and hipster hangouts such as Calma are where to see and be seen. There are more upmarket restaurants for those who prefer to sip fine wine with a standout meal and there are plenty of places to dance ‘til late. If you’re cool, you’re probably there.’

7. Rua da Boavista, Lisbon

Rua da Boavista (fifth) is 'a central thoroughfare where new ventures in eating, drinking and shopping sprout up all the time'

Rua da Boavista (fifth) is ‘a central thoroughfare where new ventures in eating, drinking and shopping sprout up all the time’

‘Few neighbourhoods in Lisbon have lived as many lives as Cais do Sodre, a neighbourhood which has grown beyond its nightlife legacy and become a place to shop local, have a family brunch and dinner with friends,’ says Time Out.

‘Right next door to the original Time Out Market, Rua da Boavista is an excellent representation of the neighbourhood’s new chapter – a central thoroughfare where new ventures in eating, drinking and shopping sprout up all the time.’

The guide suggests buying stylish organic cotton from +351, a Portuguese clothing brand known for its minimalist, unisex pieces, and eating at Cav 86, which it describes as ‘an ode to sharing, where seasonality takes the lead’.

6. Jalan Petaling, Kuala Lumpur

One of the oldest streets in Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Petaling (sixth) has been 'experiencing a renaissance' over the past few years

One of the oldest streets in Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Petaling (sixth) has been ‘experiencing a renaissance’ over the past few years

‘Jalan Petaling is one of Kuala Lumpur’s oldest streets, home to the city’s first Chinese settlers in the 19th century,’ says Time Out.

The guide says it has been ‘experiencing a renaissance’ over the past few years. ‘You’ll find Kuala Lumpur’s oldest temples next door to colonial shophouses housing the newest dining and drinking joints,’ it adds.

‘Begin the day with a cuppa and a spot of brunch – or start off at a kopitiam, a local-style coffeehouse – cosy up at a resto-bar, and come nightfall there’s always a party, whether you’re into drum ’n’ bass, jazz or reggae.’

Eateries recommended by the guide include Chocha Foodstore, for its modern Malaysian cuisine, and Botakliquor Bar, for its cocktails ‘spotlighting local botanicals’.

5. Commercial Drive, Vancouver

Vancouver's Commercial Drive remains 'defiantly ungentrified', says Time Out, which ranks the street in fifth place

Vancouver’s Commercial Drive remains ‘defiantly ungentrified’, says Time Out, which ranks the street in fifth place

In a city of rapid change, Commercial Drive remains defiantly ungentrified. McDonald’s and Starbucks tried and failed to stay the course, and the many clothing shops and boutiques are devoted either to vintage or ethically sourced items from far-off places.

So says Time Out, asserting that here everything is ‘unique and one-of-a-kind’ besides ‘a low-flying doughnut chain outlet’ and ‘a generic watering hole’.

It adds: ‘Hip by default, the Drive – as it’s known to locals – also boasts a family-owned bowling alley, a plethora of coffee shops, no fewer than four used book shops and three record stores – and more pizza, and pizza slice, joints than you can shake a pepperoni stick at.’

The guide recommends eating at Lunch Lady for a ‘modern take on Vietnamese street eats’ and visiting The Drive Canteen for ‘local and exotic eats’, including ‘house-made sweets and a large selection of non-alcoholic beer, wine and mixed drinks’.

4. Guatemala Street, Buenos Aires

Guatemala Street, in fourth place, is home to 'one of only two Michelin-starred restaurants' in Buenos Aires, and a spot where 'waiting in line for a table becomes a social occasion'

Guatemala Street, in fourth place, is home to ‘one of only two Michelin-starred restaurants’ in Buenos Aires, and a spot where ‘waiting in line for a table becomes a social occasion’

‘Even waiting in line for a table becomes a social occasion’ on Guatemala Street in the Palermo Viejo district of Buenos Aires, according to Time Out, which notes: ‘Every night, you’ll see people hanging out by the old tram line enjoying glasses of Malbec.’

The street is home to ‘two of the city’s four newly green-starred restaurants’ as well as ‘one of only two Michelin-starred restaurants – Don Julio, aka the world’s best parrilla [grill restaurant]’.

The guide adds: ‘Much more than a casual steakhouse, this incarnation (literally) of meat culture is deeply rooted in local traditions of breeding and grilling; of wine and friends.’

3. East Eleventh, Austin

Must-visit venues on third-place East Eleventh in Austin include Kenny Dorham's Backyard, Franklin Barbeque and the Vintage Bookstore and Wine Bar, the guide says

Must-visit venues on third-place East Eleventh in Austin include Kenny Dorham’s Backyard, Franklin Barbeque and the Vintage Bookstore and Wine Bar, the guide says

East Eleventh, says Time Out, is ‘beloved among locals for encapsulating the city’s spirit like no other street’.

The guide adds: ‘East Eleventh packs every inch with incredible food, culture and music.

‘Must-visit venues include Kenny Dorham’s Backyard, a makeshift venue with a permanent house party vibe, Franklin Barbeque for game-changing brisket and the Vintage Bookstore and Wine Bar.’

2. Hollywood Road, Hong Kong

Hollywood Road in Hong Kong 'is one kilometre (0.6 miles) long and links up some of the city's must-visit destinations'. The street takes the silver medal

Hollywood Road in Hong Kong ‘is one kilometre (0.6 miles) long and links up some of the city’s must-visit destinations’. The street takes the silver medal

‘One of Hong Kong’s oldest streets dating back to 1844, Hollywood Road is one-kilometre long and links up some of the city’s must-visit destinations,’ says Time Out, ‘from the Man Mo Temple and the Mid-Levels Escalator, to the Tai Kwun arts and culture hub and some of the city’s best bars, restaurants and nightlife spots such as Tate Dining Room and Lockdown, a speakeasy hidden behind a toilet bowl display.’

As for its name – Time Out explains that ‘according to legend’, it likely came from the holly bushes that once lined its edges.

1. High Street, Melbourne

Behold the world's coolest street, Melbourne's High Street, which offers 'something for everyone' from 'amazing food and drink' to 'live music venues'

Behold the world’s coolest street, Melbourne’s High Street, which offers ‘something for everyone’ from ‘amazing food and drink’ to ‘live music venues’

Drum roll, please, for the winner, a street that ‘weaves through the ultra-trendy suburbs of Northcote, Thornbury and Preston’ that according to Time Out offers ‘something for everyone… thanks to its unique local businesses’.

The guide continues: ‘Day to night, visitors can find amazing food and drink like authentic Portuguese tarts at Casa Nata, local natural wine at Northside Wines, or lasagne at 1800 Lasagne.

‘Known for its many live music venues, High Street is home to legendary locations like Northcote Social Club and the Croxton Band Room, as well as smaller spots like High Note and Shotkickers.’

Leah Glynn, the Time Out Melbourne Editor, adds: ‘We Melburnians love a rooftop bar, and High Street’s home to a real beauty in Gigi Rooftop. Intimate and exclusive (the teeny space is accessible only via Umberto Espresso Bar), it’s the go-to spot for a spritz at sundown with a side of sweeping suburban views.’

We’re happy to see more modern avenues, like influencers and YouTubers, making the list. Who knows what people’s dream jobs will be as professions evolve over the next 10, 20 and 50 years?
