The 34-year-old singer accepted her 13th Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights when she told the crowd she had a surprise for them.

“I would like to thank the fans by telling you a secret that I have kept from you for the past two years, namely that my brand new album will be released on April 19th.”

'It's called The Ward of the Martyred Poet. I'm going to post the cover backstage now.'

True to her word, she shared the racy cover, which saw her lying on a bed in black underwear and a sheer black top.

Swift started her speech by saying it was the 13th prize – a number she considers lucky.

“Okay, this is my 13th Grammy. That's my lucky number. I don't know if I ever told you that.'

“I want to thank the members of the Recording Academy for voting this way, but I know the way the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans.”

Minutes after she left the stage, the artwork for the new album was shared on her Instagram, with the caption: 'All's fair in love and poetry… New album THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. From April 19 [white heart emoji].'

She also posted a photo of a handwritten note that read, “And so I come into evidence / My tarnished escutcheon / My muses, acquired like bruises / My talismans and charms / The tick, tick, tick of love bombs / My veins of pitch black ink / All is fair in love and poetry…'

She signed the text with: 'Sincerely, The Chairman of the Martyred Poets Section.'

Taylor won the award for best pop vocal album, ahead of Kelly Clarkson (Chemistry), Miley Cyrus (Endless Summer Vacation), Olivia Rodrigo (Guts) and Ed Sheeran ('-').
