Telangana elections 2023: Sirpur is one of the Assembly constituencies among the 119 Assembly seats in Telangana state. It is classified as a rural seat, is part of the Adilabad Lok Sabha/Parliamentary constituency and falls under Kumaram Bheem Asifabad district in the North Telangana region of the state. The Election Commission (EC) has announced the schedule for the Telangana Assembly elections, wherein the state elections will be held in one phase on November 30 and counting of votes is scheduled for December 3 this year.

Telangana Assembly Elections 2023: Current Government

Currently, the state is governed by the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), headed by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. In its relatively short electoral history, the country’s youngest state is heading for its third parliamentary elections, with the BRS aiming for a perfect hat-trick to retain power. The Congress, the main opposition party in the state, still dreams of ruling Telangana, the formation of which it facilitated in 2014. Meanwhile, the BJP, which is still dependent on its central leadership, will try to win seats from the BRS.

In this semester’s assembly elections, the BRS has nominated Koneru Konappa as its candidate for the Sirpur seat, while the grand old party has picked Raavi Srinivas to contest. The BJP has awarded the ticket to Palvai Harish Babu for the Sirpur Assembly constituency.

Telangana Assembly Elections 2023: Sirpur Previous Election Result

In 2018, BRS’ Koneru Konappa emerged victorious by a significant margin of over 24,036 votes, defeating Congress’ Palvai Harish Babu. Konappa received over 83,088 votes, while Babu secured 59,052 votes, resulting in a voting percentage of 50.57 percent. Dr. Kottapelli Srinivas of the saffron party got 6,279 votes, securing the third position.

Sirpur constituency has a total of 2.12310 eligible voters. These voters are divided into 1,06,970 male and 1,05,333 female voters, according to the website of Chief Electoral Officer Telangana.
