Square nails

You may have thought the days of square nails were over, but this year is all about wearability.

Short nails are everything the range – so it’s time to say goodbye to the stiletto nails that have dominated the salon in recent years.

Nail expert, Julie Kandalecsays many of her celebrity clients are asking for short, square nails to match the natural, “clean” aesthetic everyone is trending toward lately.

French tips with a twist

Speak with CosmopolitanJulie showed off the new French tip design she created for the Staud Spring/Summer show at NYFW.

The simple design is the perfect spring twist on the classic style.

Start with a neutral base color, then draw a line a third of the way down your nails with a thin paintbrush of any color (pastels for spring may not be groundbreaking, but they’re certainly appropriate).

chocolatemilk

With minimalism becoming a major player in nails this year, people are opting for simple designs in neutral colors.

“I see a big transition to minimalist looks,” says nail artist Hannah Lee. “I think a sleek, natural nail look will be popular in 2024.”

To keep them looking extra milky, the nail professional recommends using a polish that doesn’t contain gloss.

Ultra-shiny

Shiny nails aren’t exactly new, but this year we want them to be as shiny as our lip glosses.

Nail expert Julie says layering different textures will be key to recreating the look.

Consider adding cat-eye nail polish that changes in the light with a chrome powder on top for the ultimate eye-catching manicure.

Bling Ring

If you can’t stand the thought of completely neutral nails this season, a simple rhinestone gem is all it takes to give your hands a boost.

Hannah adds that it’s also very easy to do at home.

“Just apply some top coat and attach the rhinestones before it dries so they stay in place,” she explained.

Barely there

A clear nail polish is just what you need to stay in line with the clean girl aesthetic.”

Think about your nails, but better if you choose this chic design; the use of rosy pink shades adds just a pop of color.

Oyster nails

Chrome powders were already in the range last year – and they will remain so in 2024.

This time, however, you’ll want to stick with pale shades and add a chrome, glossy top coat.

The idea is that it will look like an oyster or pearl glittering under the sea. What better way to get you in the mood for summer?

Bow power

The balletcore trend on social media has now made its way into our nail salons.

This trend is all about embracing girlhood – so think pink and bows of all shapes and sizes for this fun design.

Aura reading

These nails add a pop of color to your manicure without being too obvious, and they’re super easy to do at home.

The aura design has a spiritual nod and is therefore perfect for those looking for a fresh start this spring.

To do it yourself, paint your nail your favorite base color and then dab your “aura” color onto the center of your nail with a wedge-shaped makeup sponge.

The anti-op

For those who don’t agree with the minimalist theme that will be huge this year, there is one trend that will make your heart skip a beat.

If you decide to go big with your nail art, make sure it is completely exaggerated.

It combines builder gel, jelly polish, rhinestones and everything you can think of to add dimension to your nails.
