Holidaymakers trying to get a sunbed got an instant dose of karma when they saw their towels soaked by cleaners at a Tenerife hotel.
The footage was taken by an upset hotel guest, who was staying at a location notoriously popular with Brits.
The clip, posted to TikTok, illustrated the maneuvers of some guests trying to get themselves a spot at the pool by placing their towels on empty sunbeds.
In a hilarious twist of fate, they were caught by the work of hotel cleaners who, undisturbed by the towels, simply removed them to clean the beds and surrounding areas.
The hotel guests’ towels were then completely soaked after the diligent cleaners had done everything they could.

She continued: ‘[The towels] were put on the sunbeds around 8:00 am and people will most likely not be back until after 10:00 am, because that is when breakfast is over.
Joining the debate, other users were quick to delve into the hot topic of whether or not they thought it was acceptable to ‘reserve’ sunbeds.
One user wrote: ‘Maybe just enjoy your holiday instead of worrying about other people’s towels.’
This didn’t seem to amuse the original poster, who replied with more than a hint of sarcasm, “I am.”
Another comment simply said ‘good’, with the user happy to hear that people are trying to gain an advantage by laying out their towels early in the day.
The incident follows the publication of new research showing that two-thirds of Britons suffer from anxiety about securing a sunbed during their holiday.
Research has shown that 80% of holidaymakers find securing a sunbed stressful during their holiday.
It also turned out that 84% of people who manage to get a tanning bed say they experience physical pain when they lie on it.
Further findings from the research show that more than half (51%) think it is unreasonable for people to ‘reserve’ sunbeds with towels on holiday.
The incident comes as a new survey has revealed that two-thirds of Brits are worried about whether or not they will get a sunbed during their holiday
Meanwhile, 1 in 10 admitted to taking someone else’s ‘reserved’ towels from a lounger to replace them with their own.
Research by travel agency On The Beach and bed company Silentnight also shows that a quarter of British people (25%) find sunbeds uncomfortable and 14% even wish they could transport their bed to the pool.
Zoe Harris, Chief Customer Officer at On The Beach, said: ‘We are tired of the sunbed wars, the 6am poolside hours and the sunbed anxiety that holidaymakers face.
‘That is why this summer we are solving the summer sunbed crisis once and for all, by guaranteeing our customers not just any sun lounger, but a lounger that offers the highest comfort.
‘The only thing you have to worry about now is which cocktail you order first on your sunbed.’
