Terrifying footage has captured the moment six sharks surrounded the fishing boat in a scary encounter.

The two fishermen were fishing for crayfish about five kilometers offshore of Perth’s north coast near Ocean Reef Marina, Western Australia, at around noon on Sunday.

The sharks, believed to be bronze whalers, began following them, chasing old bait from the men’s crayfish pots.

The fisherman who filmed the terrifying encounter could be heard counting: “One, two, three.”

The sharks were seen in footage just inches from the back of the boat.

The predators swam around the ship on both sides, before the fisherman shouted, ‘Oh! There are four!’

The sharks came into contact with each other, one swimming over the other, prompting the fisherman to say, “Try them.”

The video, which lasted just over a minute, also showed the sharks going under the boat and some hanging out near the ladder on the side of the ship.

“Good place for diving, this,” the fisherman said cheekily.

The fishermen counted a total of six sharks.

The sighting comes after a spate of shark sightings in Western Australia last weekend.

This included seven sharks off Rottnest Island over the weekend, including Sunday’s sighting of a four-metre monster just 300 meters off the Pinky Beach shoreline.

Three hammerhead sharks were also spotted just off Fairbridge Bluff Beach on the island.

The sharks swam within inches of the ship and swam under the boat and along the sides.

A shark was spotted a meter off the shore of Dead Seal Beach, Carnac Island.

On Sunday, 2.5 meters of sharks cruised 100 meters offshore near Rockingham’s Point Peron.

A five-metre great white shark was reported on Sunday by a member of the public in the regional town of Esperance, about 50 meters offshore at Bandy Creek Boat Harbour.
