Texas woman found being eaten by alligator is trust fund divorcee, 63, as mystery surrounding her horrific death deepens

The Texas The woman who was eaten by an alligator is a trust divorcee and mother of two, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal.

The Houston medical examiner confirmed that the deceased woman found in the beast’s jaws late last month was 63-year-old Robin Jean Puryear.

Her exact cause of death has not yet been made public by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

It remains unclear whether Puryear was killed by the beast or if her remains were found by the reptile after she died.

Puryear was reported missing by her partner on May 27, and the alligator was spotted less than 12 hours later around 8:40 a.m. on May 28. the police stated.

The officer who discovered the human remains in the alligator’s mouth shot the creature to prevent it from eating the rest of her body, which was then recovered from the bayou by a dive team.

Puryear was the mother of a son in her 30s and lived in a part of Houston called Clear Lake, not far from where NASA is based.

Her home is less than a mile from where her body was found in the predator’s clutches near Horsepen Bayou.

Described by neighbors as “small and sweet,” Puryear was only 6 feet tall and weighed about 125 pounds.

According to public records, Puryear had lived since 1991 in the Clear Lake home, which was purchased with her ex-husband. The Puryears divorced in 2011.

Residents nearby said she would “keep to herself” and expressed disbelief at how her body was found.

“It’s just a terrible situation and there’s just a lot of speculation going on,” a neighbor who did not want to be named told DailyMail.com.

“Maybe this points to something people aren’t even thinking about.”

She explained that alligators are common in that neighborhood, and all residents are well aware that they are in the water and often wonder where the banks of the bayou are.

When Puryear’s former husband died years after the divorce, she and her son inherited part of her ex-husband’s business.

It appears she was living off a trust fund related to her electric company and had no other employment.

Puryear had three drunk driving convictions to her name from 1987, 1999 and 2013.

In more recent years, neighbors said she was living with a man they knew as her husband, but there are no publicly available records of a second marriage.

He did not return calls seeking comment.

Since her death, neighbors believe Puryear’s partner has left the house, with only her adult son visiting occasionally.

As questions about Puryear’s death remain unanswered, she will be buried Thursday at Crowder Funeral Home in League City, according to a online obituary.

Meanwhile, her former brother-in-law Ronald Puryear could hardly believe how her remains ended up being eaten by an alligator.

‘This is really incredible. This sounds like a fantasy,” Ronald said, adding that he had not spoken to her or her son in more than a decade due to a family estrangement.

‘We had a disagreement in the family and the family split up. That’s about the only thing I’m comfortable with.”
