News of feuds between cast members and accusations of bad behavior began to emerge after the show’s interior designer, Bobby Berkannounced that season 8 of the reality series would be its last.
“It was not an easy decision to come to terms with, but it was a necessary one,” he wrote via Instagram in November 2023. “Although my journey with Strange eye is over, my journey with you is not. You will see more of me soon.” (The show’s eighth season premiered in January 2024.)

“There were a lot of challenges with the planning [and] there was a loss of interest with Bobby filming the show,” the insider shared. “The network and the cast felt it was time to bring in fresh blood. His heart wasn’t in it and the rest of the cast started to hate him because of it.
Fans began to speculate that Berk’s conflict was with France after he unfollowed his co-star on social media shortly after making his announcement. Strange eye Exit.

The Jeremiah Brent of everything
An exposé published by Rolling stone claimed in March 2024 that tensions between Berk and France had increased after France reportedly campaigned to replace the designer with his friend, Jeremiah Brent. A week prior to the article’s publication, Netflix announced that Brent would be taking over the role of Berk for the show’s upcoming ninth season.
France shut down speculation that he was directly behind Berk’s Queer Eye exit in a March 2024 Instagram video, claiming Berk had been fired from the show.
“The firing of my former colleague had nothing to do with my efforts to get my friend hired. Netflix and the production companies have done a full casting,” France told his followers. “I didn’t hire my friend for the job. They ended up getting it because they were the best person for the job. Am I so happy they got the job? Um, that’s really me. I think they’ll be great on the show. But I didn’t hire them by firing someone else.”

In the above Rolling stone exposé, several crew members compared Berk’s relationship with his costars to that of a “boy band.” And like most boy bands, they were doomed to break up.
“Essentially it was a group of people put together in their mid-30s who were said to be best friends. But people don’t expect that Strange eye could be,” a production member told the outlet. “That’s what it really is: a manufactured boy band with big personalities, some favored and some not, and ultimately [things] became really toxic.”
Some of the cast’s toxic behavior is said to have come from Van Ness, as many crew members accused them of having “anger issues” and behaving in emotionally “abusive” ways towards others on set.
“Jonathan is a crowd-pulling person who has the ability to be very warm and charismatic, and who has the ability to make you feel like they are really special because they pay attention to you,” claimed a production member who met with the star worked. ‘But at least once a day they had to shout at someone. It may be something small, but there will always be someone to blame you and make you the villain of the day.”

Brown and Porowski have not publicly discussed the Berk-France feud or the allegations about Van Ness’ behavior. However, the two did show support for Berk after he announced his Strange eye Exit.

Van Ness also showed some love by posting three red heart emojis on the Instagram post.
