Death of Thomas Kingston: Royal supporters express their condolences after Lady Gabriella’s husband dies suddenly aged 45

Royal fans have taken to social media to express their grief and offer their condolences following the sudden death of Thomas Kingston, husband of Lady Gabriella Windsor.

Buckingham Palace announced Kingston’s death at the age of 45 on Tuesday evening, saying the financier was found dead at an address in Gloucestershire on Sunday, with emergency services arriving on the scene shortly after 6pm.

Since the palace’s announcement, a number of well-wishers have posted emotional messages of support on both X, formerly Twitter, and Instagram.

One person wrote on X: ‘Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Thomas Kingston. May your sleep be peaceful and serene. Sincere condolences to Lady Gabriella Windsor, all family and friends at this devastating time. Their wedding, like the beautiful couple, was a dream.”

Another person offered their condolences on the platform, writing, “Rest in peace Thomas Kingston,” followed by four crying emojis.

A royal fan account on Instagram called ‘themountbattenwindsors’, which has 83,400 followers, also posted a message, accompanied by a photo of Lady Gabriella and Mr Kingston from their 2019 wedding.

The post reiterated the news of Mr Kingston’s death and ended with: ‘My thoughts and prayers are with Lady Gabriella and the rest of Thomas’ family.’

It racked up more than 1,000 likes and nearly 60 comments in just two hours.

One person recalled that the couple had gotten married just a few years ago, writing, “Aren’t they married very recently?” This is so sad!! My thoughts and prayers for the family!’

Another said: ‘I’m so sorry to hear this…so sad. Love goes out to the Royal Family, but especially to Gabriella, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Lord and Lady Frederick Winsdor and Maud and Isabella.”

Maud and Isabella are the daughters of Lady Gabriella’s brother Lord Frederick and his wife Sophie Winkleman.

A third person commented: ‘Far too young to die, something terrible must have happened. I hope he can now rest in peace and wish Lady Gabriella all the strength she needs to deal with this now. Please be strong and don’t lose faith. Sending you all the best wishes.”

Another royal fan account, ‘british._royal’, posted a similar message on Instagram, wishing: ‘Condolences to the family.’

Lady Gabriella paid tribute to her financier husband in a joint statement with his family, describing him as an ‘exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him’. His tragic death was described as a ‘major shock to the whole family’.

An investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of death, but there are no suspicious circumstances and no other parties involved.

A statement on behalf of Lady Gabriella Kingston and Mr Kingston’s family said: ‘It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother.

“Tom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the entire family and we ask that you respect our privacy as we mourn his passing.”

King Charles and Queen Camilla have sent their “most sincere thoughts and prayers” to Lady Kingston and Mr Kingston’s family.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: ‘The King and Queen have been informed of Thomas’ death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all who knew him in mourning a much-loved member of the family.

“In particular, Their Majesties send their deepest thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and the entire Kingston family.”

Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Lady Gabriella’s parents, both attended a memorial service at St. George’s Chapel for King Constantine of Greece today.

Prince Michael was cousins ​​of the late Queen Elizabeth through their father.

It is understood Prince William’s absence from today’s memorial was not related to Mr Kingston’s death.

Kensington Palace announced earlier in the day that the Prince of Wales had withdrawn from the memorial service due to a personal matter.

Lady Gabriella, known to her friends as Ella, and her late husband married in 2019 at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

The wedding reception took place at Frogmore House, the former residence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Lady Gabriella is not a working member of the royal family and does not perform any public duties.

Mr Kingston, known as Tom, had been a director of Devonport Capital since 2017.
