THE kitchen is unfortunately the heart of the house, but does not always get the love it deserves.

One woman transformed the space in her home with a product from B&Q – and it cost her just £9.

If your kitchen is in dire need of a makeover, you may want to watch the content creator's video.

Tiktok user @onshuis4499 has shown off its impressive renovation, with the mother-of-three transforming her once dilapidated council house.

Like many rental properties, it was in dire need of an update with peeling paint, bare floors and built-in units that had seen better days.

Instead of relying on local authorities to solve the problem, the influencer decided to roll up his sleeves and renovate the family home himself.

Although revamping your home can cost thousands of pounds, this thrifty mum found enough items on the high street to transform the tired space.

However, it was a £9 product from B&Q that really caught viewers' attention during the renovation video as it completely revamped the old-fashioned kitchen.

Instead of paying a small fortune for new worktops, the content creator used wood-effect vinyl to bring them up to date.

Application was easy as the plastic had an adhesive backing, which meant all the Tiktoker had to do was smooth it out and then clean the edges with a small exacto knife.

Her space immediately felt brighter with the wood-effect vinyl echoing throughout her kitchen – in contrast to the old stained cupboards.

Despite this great improvement, the frugal mother wasn't done yet, for she had cheaper and happier ways to renovate her home.

I live in a council house and have given it a total transformation for almost nothing

This included using a £35 white paint to cover her old cupboards, hiding decades of scuffs and scratches.

She wasn't done changing the built-in units just yet, though, as the Tiktok creator removed the handles and covered them in a matte black spray paint (£7).

Finally, she touched up the grout in the kitchen with a black pen she bought from Shein for just £1.

For those who haven't done the math yet, the entire renovation only cost her £52 and her followers were understandably impressed.

While fans showered her with compliments in the comments, many even said they would use some of her thrifted purchases in their own space.

One even wrote: “I love this, that black tile pen looks great, going to try it on my ugly white kitchen tiles lol.”

Another revealed she wanted to repaint the cabinet handles after watching the short video.

She wrote: “I was going to say there would be black handles on the doors Nice but then I saw you spray them…delicious'

If you're tempted to copy Tiktoker's style, you're in luck, as the majority of these products are still available from B&Q.

You're also in good company, as DIY companies now estimate that 49 percent of homeowners are renovating their own homes.

It seems you have no excuse not to start your own DIY project.
