Amber Dowding was rushed to hospital this weekend.

The TOWIE star took to Instagram where she shared her ordeal, along with shocking photos of her swollen face.

Amber also revealed her diagnosis of periorbital cellulitis – an infection of the eyelid or skin around the eye – which leaves her with severe pain and blurred vision.

She told fans: 'That was the fastest time she ever spent in hospital. Very grateful!!

'In and out within 30 minutes. Anyway, it's periorbital cellulitis, they put me on antibiotics and sent an urgent request to the eye department to contact me tomorrow to make sure it gets better.

'Because I have a headache and the pressure is so high, they advised me to go to a certain hospital. Of course, once the antibiotics kick in, I'll be fine. Thanks for your messages and telling me to get checked out.”

The reality star also revealed how a nurse came to administer more numbing eye drops and perform a vision test.

She told her followers: 'My left eye is completely blurry and I couldn't see a single letter coming out of that eye.

“He tested the pressure and it wasn't where it should be, but he said he wasn't too worried about it. Maybe they should put some dye in my eye, but we'll wait and see what the doctor says.'

Amber then confirmed the diagnosis, adding: 'In some cases it can (rarely) go deeper into the eye. That's why they wanted to see me quickly, but luckily that didn't happen.

“My vision is still blurry, but that's due to the amount of swelling and pressure on that part of my eye.”

The hairdresser added: 'Antibiotics will help. I just can't drive ATMs, which is annoying, but not the end of the world.”

Amber later returned to social media, where she uploaded a photo of herself cuddled with her dog as she recovered.

She joked that her pet “showed sympathy for her” by closing his left eye.
