TV newsreaders from Sydney and Brisbane have fired shots ahead of Wednesday night’s Origin series opener – with Queensland coming out on top in a hilarious move.
State of Origin has arrived for 2024, with the Blues host Game 1 in Sydney on Wednesday night as they look to wrestle the shield back from the Maroons.
7NEWS Sydney and Brisbane are showing their support for their respective states by dressing in blue and maroon.
The NSW news team also compiled a cheeky list of things they didn’t like about Queensland, which lined the ticker at the bottom of the screen.

The list of 50 included things like “cane toads,” “bogan accents” and “Reece Walsh.”
The Queensland news team fired back by posting a similar ticker at the bottom of their report, but it contained just two words repeated 50 times: ‘Paul Gallen’.
