Britain’s cheapest house is for sale for £0, but you have to go inside first

Britain’s ‘cheapest house’ is on the market from an incredible £0, but finding the front door can be difficult.

Home buyers may be excited to find the Welsh property for sale in the village of Dyffryn Cellwen in the Upper Dulais Valley, at such an astonishing price.

The 600 m² house is located on the edge of the beautiful Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, with easy access to the A4109 leading to Swansea.

However, potential buyers will have to go in “with their eyes wide open” as the house is definitely considered a ‘fixer upper’, completely overgrown with brambles and leaves.

Auctioneers themselves had to fight with branches and cut through bushes to expose the front door, but that’s where they stopped.

Inside, the ‘unsafe’ building is crumbling and uninhabitable, and no one can actually walk through it.

Sean Roper, of the house’s Newport-based auctioneer Paul Fosh Auctions, said WalesOnline: “The target price of € nil also ensures that many potential buyers stop and take a good look at the details and what exactly is offered in this otherwise barely visible lot.

“Viewing has proved challenging as we had to cut a path through overgrown brambles, shrubs and ferns to reach the abandoned bungalow, which is in a dilapidated and unsafe condition.

“We have not been inside and would not recommend it to potential buyers due to the dangerous condition of the building.”

Mr Roper added that the final offer will depend on what buyers are willing to offer – but given the condition of the house it could be “just a few quid”.

Bidding begins on Tuesday, March 5 at 12 noon and runs until Thursday, March 7 at 5 p.m.

Sean added: “This is a great opportunity to acquire a derelict bungalow on a plot of approximately 572 m2.

“The fact that the place has a guide price of zero pounds and could possibly be had for a few pounds only adds to its appeal.”

It comes as if a couple ‘got carried away’ after buying a house through Facebook Marketplace — and said they “should have thought twice.”

Chris and Becky revealed the stress they faced when moving into their run-down home in Wales.

They admitted that the house was dilapidated and in dire need of work.

Elsewhere in Britain, an ordinary three-bedroom apartment went on the market for £115,000, but inside it’s like ‘stepping into Narnia’.

Meanwhile, a man who brought a crumbling castle once fit for a king revealed how he bagged a royal paradise for just £1.

Martin Higgins, 60, from Brockham in Surrey, bought Betchworth Castle cheaply after the council refused to restore it.

Furthermore, another homebuyer who had hit rock bottom bought a ‘crumbling pile of bricks’ for just £1 and turned it into her dream home.

Maxine Sharples refurbished the rat-infested Merseyside house, rotten windows and holes in the roof, before transforming it.
