UPSC CSE Mains Result 2023: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the result for the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2023. Selected aspirants have qualified for the Personality Test (Interview) for selection into the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and other central services (Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’). Candidates who have qualified for the interviews are required to fill and submit their Detailed Application Form-II (DAF-II) as a mandatory requirement.

UPSC CSE DAF 2 Form: What is UPSC Detailed Application Form-II (DAF-II)?

The UPSC DAF-II is an essential form that candidates who qualify for the UPSC Civil Services Personality Test/Interview, based on the CSE Mains exam results, have to fill. This comprehensive form collects details about the candidate’s background, education, and preferences for participating services.

All candidates who qualify for the Personality Tests (Interviews) are required to compulsorily fill and submit their Detailed Application Form-II (DAF-II). The following provisions have been included in the Civil Service Examination Rules, 2023:

  1. “14.(1) Before the commencement of the interview/personality test of the examination, a candidate is required to mandatorily indicate only the order of preferences for those services participating in the Civil Service Examination 2023 and for which the candidate is interested to be allocated in in case of possible selection, in the online Detailed Application Form II (DAF II). OBC attachment (for OBC category only) and EWS attachment (for EWS category only) are required to be submitted mandatorily. Any delay in submitting the DAF-II or supporting documents after the prescribed date will not be allowed and will lead to cancellation of candidature for the CSE-2023. A candidate can also upload additional documents/certificates of higher education, achievements in various fields, service experience, etc.
  2. (2) In case of recommendation of candidature by UPSC for Allocation of Services, the candidate will be considered by the Government for allotment to any of those Services for which the candidate has indicated preference in the online Detailed Application Form II. subject to the fulfillment of other conditions. No changes are permitted to preferences for Services once submitted by a candidate. If preference for any of the Services is not indicated, the candidate will not be eligible for Service Allocation.
  3. (3) A candidate seeking consideration for the Indian Administrative Service or the Indian Police Service shall indicate in the online Detailed Application Form II the order of preference for the various Zones and Frameworks for which the candidate would like to serve. is eligible for assignment in case of appointment to the IAS or IPS. No change in preference of Zones and Cadres would be allowed once filed by a candidate.

Note‐I: The candidates are advised to indicate their preferences for different services or positions very carefully. In this context, attention is also drawn to Article 21(1).

Note‐II: The candidates are advised to visit the website of DoPT periodically or for information or details regarding Service Allocation, Cadre Allocation, etc.

Note‐III: As per the existing Cadre Allocation Policy applicable for the Civil Services Examination-2023, the candidates who wish to declare IAS/IPS as their service preference are advised to declare all zones and cadres in the order of preference in their online detailed list. Therefore, in accordance with the above provisions of the Examination Regulations, all such candidates are required to fill and submit only DAF-II ONLINE which will be available on the website of the Union Public Service Commission (during the period from December 9, 2023 to 6:00 PM on 15 December 2023, failing which his/her candidature will be canceled and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard by the Commission and furthermore, no e-Summon letter will be issued to such candidates.
